"Boy Meets Girl" Ori ((Ori_author@hotmail.com)) Rating: G Notes: Struck by a random idea when mindlessly listening to my Sunset Boulevard soundtrack. Two out of three stories have thus far come from songs. :) OH! Alt reality first season. Superpowers not awakened yet. Mamoru is twentyish and Usagi is eighteen. Disclaimer: I don't own Sailor Moon. It might be nice tho. I'm only in HS, I have nothing you'd want to sue me for...especially not this computer. Promise! Chapter 1: In the Beginning Usagi sighed. The University of Tokyo had run out of dorm spaces and since she wasn't that important of a student, she had to see about finding an apartment that wasn't too far from campus to live in. It also had to be rather cheap. Her budget was not exactly accommodating even with her waitressing in the afternoon. She stopped by a student advertisement board to peer up at any apartments for rent. She pulled down one of the notices to get a better look. 'Huh.' she thought to herself. "Self, I don't think there are many people who have a one bedroom apartment who are only looking for people who will only need to sleep at night. It's worth checking out." Usagi blushed, realizing she had been unabashedly talking to herself in public. She glanced down at the flyer. The address was in walking distance and soon she was looking up at a small flat. She went up to room 10086, which to her made no sense because there certainly weren't even ten rooms in the complex, but she knocked on the door anyway. There was no answer. She sighed again. This was not her day. Just as she was about to crumple the flyer in her hand, some small type caught her attention. It read 'If you go to visit, hold this up to the eyehole in the door.' Usagi shrugged, but complied. To her surprise, the door swung open. 'The person living here must know a lot about technology,' she thought. Twenty minutes later, she had decided the apartment would do. She would likely never see the other person who lived here and she didn't have enough stuff to make a difference. She hastily wrote a note, attached it to the fridge, and walked back to the house she was temporarily staying at. That night, the phone in her guest room rang. She groggily rolled over to answer it. The voice was slightly muffled but asked, "Did you leave a note in apartment 10086?" "Hai," she replied. "Key will be under the mat tomorrow morning. I expect you to pay half the rent each month. I leave at five in the afternoon and get back at eight in the morning. I expect to not see you in those hours. All the other time, it's yours." The voice on the other end terminated the conversation with a loud click . Usagi rolled over and went back to bed. ************** The next morning, Usagi was having problems discerning whether the phone call had been all part of a dream or not. Today was Saturday and though she waitressed almost all day, it was 6:30 and she had a little time. She walked quickly over to the apartment. She climbed the stairs slowly and when she got to the door, she paused briefly. She lifted the doormat with her foot. Sure enough, there was a little key there. She bent down to pick it up and opened the door quickly. Walking in, she saw the place was deserted. Then she remembered the message. Eight o clock in the morning it had said. She looked around once more and then glanced at her watch. Letting out a small shriek at the time, she locked the door and bolted down the street for the Crown Game Center. Just as she was rounding the corner to make the last dash, she ran smack into someone and went sprawling backwards. Dazed for only a second, Usagi hopped up. "I am SO sorry, sir! I'm late and I should have watching where I was going. Let me help you up." She took the man's hand and pulled him up. She was brought face to face with the deepest blue eyes she had ever seen. And they were ANGRY deep blue eyes. She shuddered involuntarily, stuttered another apology and walked quickly to the Game Center. Stay tuned for Chapter Two: Small Annoyances
