A white light enveloped the room and the only sound emitting from the small, fragile form was a loud wail as the umbelical( is that how you spell it?) cord wascut. " Its a girl! The nurse announced as she handed the now sleeping form to the exhausted mother. Irene Tsukino was immediately fawning over the small bundle of joy that was wrapped in a pink bunnyblanket. " What is her name please?" Irene looked up at the doctor. " Serena. Serena Tsukino!" The baby began to giggle. ******************************************************* 5 years later ******************************************************* A boy of about ten years old sat in the small room all alone. His head was bandaged tightly as he sat rocking back and forth with an empty look on his face. So much had happened in the past hour to this scared little boy. A crash was the last thing he remembered besides the sickening thud of his parent's headsagainst the glass windshield. He had lost everything in a matter of minutes. His mother, his father, and his memories. All of this and more was taken from him the second the car hit therocks below. He had been the only one to survive and at the cost of all he had loved and lived for. The only thing he had was a name. A name that wasn't his. A name that meant something and nothing to him at the same time. And that name was Darien. ******************************************************* Serena bounded over the hospital floor with a bouquet of red roses, while she whistled happily to herself. She had a new baby brother and her father had let her buy the roses in celebration of the new life. She intended to give one rose to every person down the hall and she now had only one left as she made her way to the last door on the left. She quietly knocked on the open door and entered. Serena was surprised at how empty and lifeless this room was. Not a card or flower brightened the drab hospital room and Serena was immediately empathetic. She walked up to the boy on the bed and tapped him onthe shoulder. " Hi there! I'm Serena! Whats your name?" The boy paused before saying, " Darien." " Well Darien, here you go," she handed him the rose. " What is this for?" He asked in wonderment. " I am happy because I have a new baby brother. I have visited everyone down the hall and given everyone a rose so now it is your turn!" Darien stared at it blankly for a minute before scowling and handing it back to a startled Serena. " I don't want your stupid flower. Its ugly anyways." He said as he turned his back towards her. Serena stared at him quietly before turning around to leave, setting the rose on his nightstand. Darien picked it up after she had left and stared atit. ******************************************************* Thats it for now, minna-san! Happy New Years, New Millenium and New Century!
