For The First Time (Part Five)

Usagi opened her heavy eyelids and looked around the room. Why was it
so blurry in here? Getting up from her bed but quickly sat back down,
that one action made her so faint and not to mention kind of dizzy.
Usagi brushed it off thinking that it was just because she had just
gotten up too quickly and got dress into her school clothes. Going
down the stairs quietly she made her way into the dining room. Ikuko
glanced at her daughter in worry seeing that her daughter had a 
somewhat pasty, grayish complexion like she was about to faint.
"Usagi?", She called as her daughter sat silently in her chair. 
"Are you alright? You look sick" Kenji put his newspaper down and 
gazed at his daughter whose eyelids look like they were about to fall.
"Usa, maybe we should take your temperture", He said to her.
"No papa, I'm alright", Usagi said tiredly. "I'm just stressed from 
schoolwork, I guess I haven't had a lot of sleep" It was almost true,
she had been studying hard and keeping her grades up but she had also
been sleeping on regular schedule. The fatigue was out of the ordinary.
"You studying?", Shingo said and pour milk in his cereal. That seemed
bloody unlikely. He was however was worried about his sister also.
"Maybe you should have something to eat", Ikuko suggested and placed a 
plate of pancakes in Usagi's face. Her favorite. This time instead of
gobbling them up she simply stood up and gathered her things for school.
"No thanks mama, I'm not hungry", She said simply and left for school.
Not hungry? Now THAT was strange.

Mamoru walked into the arcade and immediately he felt that something 
was wrong. He saw Motoki talking to Minako and her friends, a concerned look
on his face. Their eyes met and he beckoned Mamoru over.
"Hey everyone", He greeted and saw that Rei's eyes were downcast and 
Ami looked as if she had been crying. Makoto was gripping her glass 
so hard, she could have broken it and Minako was on the verge of tears.
"What's going on?"
"Usagi passed out at school", Ami said to him and he felt his heart 
stop. A cold wind seem to hit him and he sat on a stool, his eyes all 
of a sudden emotionless. "We were walking and all of a sudden she fell
against a locker. I asked what was wrong and she just brushed it off
but then she fell again. We couldn't wake her up, we tried and we 
couldn't!" Ami crumbled into tears and Makoto hugged her. 
"Her parents brought her home", Rei informed him. "But when we went to
see her parents told us that we couldn't see her because she was really
sick and to come back in about a week" 
"You know, in case she was contagious or something", Minako said to him.
"So we were thinking-"
"I'll go tommorrow", He assured them. "I want her to rest now" Inside 
his heart was pounding so hard that he feared his shirt might pop open.
"I hope my Usako is okay" With that Mamoru jetted out of the arcade
to see if he could find any information from his mom. They were all
silent after his departure.
"Hold up", Minako said suddenly. "Did he just say MY Usako?"

The next evening Mamoru walked slowly to Usagi's door and rang the 
doorbell. In his hands were a bouquet of roses which he knew she loved
with a passion. The door opened and he was surprised to see that before 
him stood Usagi. Her hair was down and her eyes were a watery blue.
Around her body she was wrapped in a thick wool blanket. 
"Mamo-chan" Her face lit up in a grin. Her face was pale and something
in her eyes gave him a feeling that she was in pain. She widened the
door. "Come in" They went into the living room and she laid back on
the couch. "I didn't know that walking to the hallway could be so
tiring" He sat on the edge of the small couch she was laying on.
"How you feeling?", Mamoru asked and laid the flowers on the coffee 
table. Usagi looked up at him innocently as she laid and he found
himself wishing more than ever to kiss her. Just once. 
"Horrible, I can't sleep and promised my mom that I would while they
were watching Shingo's play. I just have this horrible ache on the
side of my stomach" Her hand gently rubbed the side of flat stomach
and her face was grimaced in pain. Her eyes suddenly filled with tears.
"It hurts a lot"
"Don't worry, I fix this sleep problem", Mamoru said and walk over 
to the grand piano that the Tsukinos owned. Sitting down he touched 
the ivory keys delicately and a tune began to flow from his fingers. 
He forgot the world as the music flowed from within him. Mamoru even 
began to sing the tune lightly.

As he stopped Mamoru looked to see that Usagi's eyelids were slowly 
falling but a hazy smile played on her pink lips. Her eyes focused
on him.
"I haven't played in a long time", He told her and a sat on the edge
of her couch again.
"Why?", She asked him. "I remembered when you played, you were great.
How could you stop?" He lightly pushed her hair back and sighed.
"I stopped playing...cause the music just stopped for me", Mamoru 
answered. "When you left Usako, the music and all it was for me
was gone"
"Now that I'm back the music is back?", Usagi questioned drowsily.
"Yes, the music has come back, you're my music", He told and she 
grinned. "I only hear it when I'm with you"
"Ditto", She replied and yawned. Her eyes began to close. "I hope I
get better...for you Mamo-chan....cause gosh I love you" Her eyes
were closed and she was fast asleep. He took a deep breath and
caressed her face.
"I love you too Usako", He told her quietly.

He stayed with her for an hour as she slept. Glancing at his watch
he got up but suddenly she took his hand.
"You're going?", She asked, her eyes tired. He nodded. "I'll walk
you to the door so I can lock it" Struggling up she walked him
and then gave him a hug as he stood outside her door.
"Are you sure you're ok?", He asked her. Usagi smiled at him. Mamoru,
always so caring. 
"I'll be f-OW!" Stumbling into Mamoru's arms she gasped in pain.
"Mamo-chan, something's wrong! The pain...i-i-it's horrible, I can't 
breathe!"
Without another word he lifted her into his muscular arms and quickly
closed the door. Bringing her into his car he soothed her as she cried.
"Don't worry Usako, I'm here. I'll take care of you"

Ikuko and Kenji rushed into the hospital not caring that they had
knocked down a bunch of doctors. Running to the front desk, their
breathing heavy as they got the attention of the head nurse.
"My baby, Usagi Tsukino, where is she?", Ikuko asked. "Please tell me"
"Ma'am I believe I can help you", A doctor said who had just come 
around the corner. Looking in his clipboard he located her name. 
"Usagi Tsukino, yes...her appendicts had to be taken out, your 
daughter is very lucky"
"Lucky?", Kenji asked. His daughter is in the hospital and she was 
LUCKY?!
"If she waited in any longer to come to the hospital, she would've 
died", The Doctor responded. "Also visiting hours are over and I 
can't have anyone else begging to sleep in your daughter's room"
"Anyone else?", Ikuko asked. "Whose in our daughter's room?" For all
she knew some stranger could be along in there with her. The thought
gnawed her insides. 
"I think his name is Mamoru Chiba"

Mamoru sat on Usagi's hospital bed and pulled her blanket to her chest.
She had been through a tough night. So had he but it didn't matter. It
was almost morning and his parents were probably worried sick. Did that
matter either? Nope. He got up to go but stopped to touch her sweet 
face.
"I love you Usako, I always have", He said to her quietly. "All I've
wished was to find someone and all along she had been there, right
in front of my face. Oh God, when they told me you would've died,
I almost died with you. All I've ever wanted was YOU and you probably
just think of me as that boy who would dig holes in the park with you"
He leaned down and kissed her forehead. "And even if you never hear
this or you never know, I'll always remember this" As the sun rose,
Mamoru kissed Usagi full on the lips. The sun shone around the room
lighting them and their kiss. Mamoru was unaware however that as he
kissed Usagi, Ikuko and Kenji watched from the doorway.
