For The First Time (Part Six)

"You know what Mama? I had the weirdest dream after the surgery", 
Usagi said as she sat in her hospital bed. Ikuko who was arranging 
the bunches of flowers and gifts looked at her daughter and smiled. 
How nice it was to see her looking so healthy. 
"Tell me about it", She responded and beside her daughter. Taking 
her hand she rubbed it gently. Usagi gave her mom a shy smile but 
then it faded and was replaced with a dreamy look.
"I had a dream that I was kissed", Usagi told her mom. The grin from
Ikuko's lips faded. When her and Kenji had seen Mamoru kissed their
daughter they left the room quickly. It only confirmed their suspicions
that YES Mamoru and Usagi were in love. It was sincere, the kiss but 
Kenji had been angered at how Mamoru had done it so prudently. In
her heart however Ikuko wanted it to happen for she had never seen 
such a love like they had. "The boy kissed me and I just felt this 
light surround me"
"How did he look like?", She asked her daughter. Her heart was pounding.
"...I don't know", Usagi answered and wound her fingers in her hair. 
"He reminded me of someone...and the touch it was so familiar" Her 
voice was practically a whisper. The person in her mind seemed so hazy
but clear, it had almost looked like...Mamo-chan. "It seemed so real"
"Sometimes dreams are like, they can sometimes seem real but they 
really aren't" She could've told her daughter the truth but IF Mamoru 
and Usagi belonged together they'd find the truth themselves.
"It was kind of silly anyways", Usagi remarked. "Really! Someone 
kissing me in a hospital! Absolutely silly, right?"
"Yeah silly", Her mother murmured to herself.

Now Usagi was healthy she had taken on her daily life with a storm,
it had been as if she was making up for the time she had been in the 
hospital. She studied with Ami, helped Rei at the shrine, went shopping
with Minako, cooked with Makoto and often helped waitress at Motoki's
arcade. But yet she had picked him to do one of the SCARIEST things
he would ever have to do.

He had to teach her how to drive.

It wasn't like Usagi didn't know how, it was just that the only 
experience she had was from going on the bumper cars. As he sat
there in HIS car with her Mamoru cringed thinking of the damage
she would be doing to his car.
"So what is the first thing after you put your seatbelt?", He 
questioned her as they got ready.
"Simple", She answered. "You check your rearview mirror" At least 
she knew a little about driving.
"And why do you that?", He asked her. She looked at him and gave
him a simply dazzling smile.
"Another simple question", Usagi told him. "To check your makeup"
His face fell and he slapped his forehead. This was going to be
a LONG day.
"NO", Mamoru said. Obviously Minako had been teaching her the
basics. "To check if there are any cars coming. Now just turn
the engine on, put the shift on drive, and slowly tap the gas-"
*VROOOOM!!!!!!* "OKAY NOW WE'RE GOING TOO FAST! STOP!" *BRAKE*
And so that's how it went for the past hour.

*VROOOOM!*
*BRAKE*
*VROOOM!*
*BRAKE*
*VROOOM!*
*BRAKE*

Mamoru prayed that he would not throw up in his own car. Besides
messing up his nice interior he'd look like an idiot in front of
Usagi. After awhile Usagi learned how to control the accelerator 
and they found themselves parked at the beach watching the sun set. 
The sun doesn't always look that nice especially while you're vomiting all over the place. At least that's how Mamoru felt.
"Am I THAT bad Mamo-chan?", Usagi asked worriedly as he sat back in the
passengers seat. "I'm SO sorry, do you want me to get you something?"
"No, just hold my hand", He answered with a sweet smile as he laid his
head back on the back of his chair. Usagi returned the smile and took
his hand. It felt so natural.
"So I guess I'll be taking the bus for the rest of my life", Usagi 
commented jokingly. "Or maybe I need to know a LITTLE more about 
driving" More like a lot.
"You'll do fine, I'm glad you're okay again", Mamoru said sincerely
and gazed into the eyes of the young girl. She was innocent yet
something in her eyes compelled him, made him desire her. Just to
kiss her lips again made him ache. "Usako...um...there's something
I've gotta tell you" Okay here it goes.
"Yes?", She said breathlessy and swallowed the lump in her throat.
Mamoru cleared his throat and tightened the grip on her hand.
"Well this isn't an easy thing to say but I think...I-I think-"
Suddenly a bright light flashed in their eyes. Mamoru was finally
sure that YES the gods did hate him. For before them stood a tall,
uniform-clad policeman.
"HEY YOU KIDS! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!", He demanded to know.
This officer just happened to be an above the law guy, rules
were important and kept kids out of trouble. Yup he was one of
THOSE guys.
"Sir, we were just watching the sun go down-" Mamoru tried to explain.
The officer wouldn't hear of it. No kids would get off this easy.
"I know what you were doing, you think I don't know that kids come
up hear to fool around", He told them. Their faces turned beet red.
"It's a good thing I came up here before you made a mistake" He looked
at Usagi. "Don't you know how many young girls like you become a mother
each day?"
"But officer we didn't come here to make out-" Usagi assured him though
it seemed he was on a roll.
"How old are you anyway? You hardly look old enough to be behind the
wheel and you mister don't you know what you're doing is illegal!", He
lectured.
"BUT-"
"I won't hear it-", He told them. "I'm taking you both home, I'll be
your poilce escort"
"BUT-"
"NO, start your car and GO", The officer said. "And don't try to ditch
me, I have your license plate number" Usagi and Mamoru angrily buckled
up and started the car to Usagi's house where they knew both their
families were hanging out.
"Moron", Mamoru muttered to himself. Usagi looked at him with weary
eyes.
"Well wait till my dad hears about this", She told him.

The folks didn't seemed to that mad which was surprising since they
had been knocked off their socks when they saw their children being
escorted by a police officer. Only Kenji was angry when the man
started talking about them being in the most famous makeout spot
in Tokyo and how Usagi could turn out to be a teenage mom if they
didn't watch out. Mamoru was just thankful that Kenji hadn't
murdered him yet. Walking into the arcade he immediately realized
that all eyes were on him. Going over to Motoki he sat down
wary of all the people staring at him.
"What's going on?", He inquired and Motoki put down the washcloth
he held. Motoki gave his friend a sympathetic look and leaned
over to him.
"Someone told everyone that you and Usagi were caught in the
beach where everyone makes out", He whispered and Mamoru's
eyes widened. "Now they all think you guys...you know"
"We didn't!", Mamoru said loudly. "It was totally INNOCENT!"
"YEAH RIGHT!", Someone yelled back. Mamoru at that moment was ready 
to KILL. He was practically boiling and Motoki didn't know what to 
do. Comfort him or throw a glass of  water on him. The door opened 
with a jingle and in came Usagi. She wasn't alone. A tall, handsome 
boy with dark brown hair and seedy hazel eyes had his arm around her.
"Mamo-chan!", Usagi called out cheerfully with the boy in tow. He
heard people whispering and it occurred to Mamoru that Usagi didn't
know what was going on. She presented the boy to Mamoru. "This is
Kazuko" The boy held his hand out and Mamoru gingerly shook his
hand. "He's taking me out tonight" In honest truth Usagi had meant
to refuse him but he had such a charm that she couldn't resist
him. Her nature was naive and was fooled by the snakiest of snakes.
"Yeah U-sagi" He stretched her name out, Mamoru hated it. Hated him.
"I'm gonna show you a GOOD time"
"Really? Where we going?", She asked dizzily with a smile. Something
fishy was going on. Motoki pulled aside and then took another glance
at Usagi.
"Mamoru, I think she's drunk", Motoki informed him. "That guy is a
BAD news" Steaming he went over to them and saw that Usagi had her-
self draped all over him. The guy had his hand on her waist tightly.
"You know what? I'm gonna go use the bathroom, fix my face", Usagi
told both of them and made her way across the room and into a door
leading to the bathroom. Whoops, wrong door. She came out and then
quickly into the other door with word GIRLS on it.
"I'm gonna have the best time with her. After what I gave her", Kazuko
remarked with a smirk.
"What did you give her?", He asked ready to strangle him.
"Just a small bottle of alcohol, she didn't know it though when I gave
her that soda", He said triumphantly. "Well maybe I shouldn't have done
that, afterall you got something from her, right? Or was she drunk then
too?" *POW!* And the guy was down. 
"OHMIGOD! MAMO-CHAN WHAT DID YOU DO?!", Usagi yelled coming out of the
bathroom. He grabbed her arm and pulled out of the Arcade. Angrily she
yanked her arm away. "What the hell was that?"
"Do you know you're drunk?", He asked her and the look on her face told
him no. "Do you know what the guy wanted to do to you?!"
"I can take care of myself!", She responded all of sudden angrily. "I
don't need you"
"Well it didn't seem that way inside the arcade", He answered back with
his teeth clenched. Sometimes...she could be so...UNREASONABLE.
"I'M NOT A CHILD ANYMORE MAMORU!", She yelled in the streets. It didn't
seem to faze her that many people were turning around. Her eyes filled
with tears of anger. "I'm just some child to you, aren't I? That's all
you think I am"
"Yes, that's all you are to me USAGI", He told her steaming with 
madness. "A kid who I use to bail out of trouble and then be followed 
by" She had been looking down by now she looked up with crystalline
tears, this time his anger had not dampened with he saw her watery
eyes and the hard look on his face remained.
"Yeah..." She nodded at him. "I thought so" Turning she ran quickly
so he wouldn't see her falling tears. The hard look on his face fell
and he sat on the edge of the sidewalk. 
"Yes Mamoru", He said to himself. "You've just lost the only girl
you've ever loved"
