Odango Atama. Baka. Who'd have thought that this is what you call the one person that's stolen your heart away? Why? Every time I see her, in the arcade, yelling and kicking at a machine after she lost, or just happily munching a cookie, I smile and give a little sigh. And yet, I can't tell her how much I like her. She hates me! She'd never want to be around me, ever. Maybe I deserve it, after all. I *did* start it by calling her 'Odango Atama,' after all... If there was only something I could do for her, something maybe I could give her, to show I care... but it's not to be. It would never happen. So on with the insults, the bickering, the taunts. If only she knew how much it hurt me... @)~~>~~>~~~ Anyway, it was just another regular day. I was walking to school, trying to remember all that ancient Greek for history class, when who do I see then none other than Usagi. She was looking with delight at something in a store window. Stuffed animals, cookies, what could it be? Creeping close, I tried to catch a glimpse of what was so engrossing. She was gazing at a small silver jewelry box, with intricate patterns carved on the lid, in the shape of a crescent moon. Roses curved along the sides, and the box, laying open in the window, was lined with deep red velvet. The large advertisement read, "A gift from a prince to his princess. On sale! A treasure, 50% off!' She was staring at it longingly, with big, shining eyes, her slender fingers clutching her schoolbag for dear life. Suddenly, she groaned, smacking her head. She said out loud, moaning, "Baka! Why long for that beautiful box when I know no one'll buy it for me! No guy loves me enough to give me such a lovely thing! Baka, baka, baka!" Pouting, she started trudging off to school, before letting out an agonizing, loud wail. After she left, I walked up to the window of the store. 'What a beautiful box,' I thought. No wonder she wanted it so much. In the display, there was a picture, of a prince suited in dark, black and silver armor holding it in his princess's hand, who had long, flowing blonde hair and was dressed in a shimmering white dress. An idea sparked in my head. As I looked at the picture, the more and more that princess reminded me of Usagi, and I wondered... 'Maybe I should buy that box for her...' I shook my head quickly. What would she think of me then? Am I nuts? If I suddenly give her an expensive gift like that, she'd think I was trying to blackmail her or something! No, I couldn't do that. Not yet, maybe... Without a second thought, I went in and bought that box, expensive as it was (sweatdrop!) and later, when I got home, I carefully stored it in my nighttable, concealed at the very back. I will give you your wish, Princess, but not just yet... I have to make sure you'll accept it first... @)~~>~~>~~~ The next day, I had my plan all ready. Usagi entered the arcade where Motoki worked after school, as I knew she always did, and I was waiting. "Hey Motoki!" she called as she swung her school bag in her hand. "Where are you? Yippee! No more school!" "Yes, but there's school tomorrow, you know. It's only Tuesday." I grinned at her as she spotted me standing at the counter. "Oh, it's you, Mamoru-san! Ick, don't tease me so!" she scowled. "Why would I tease you, Usagi-chan?" She looked at me, wide-eyed. "Ma-Mamoru-san, you didn't call me Odango Atama! Are you okay?" She ran up and felt my forehead. "Hmm, no fever... Are you feeling alright today?" I chuckled. "No, I'm fine. Just thought maybe you didn't like being called that, so I stopped. Happy?" "Well, I..." she stammered. She looked a bit shocked as she looked at me. "Why the sudden change of heart, Mamoru-san?" I shrugged nonchalantly. "Maybe it's the weather, maybe it's your sweet smile that I got to see; I'm not really sure which. Anyway, ja ne, Usagi-chan." I stood up and walked to the door. She gaped in shock. "S-sweet smile?" she whispered. "Wait, Mamoru-san! What was that you said? Wait!" And with that, she ran and followed my disappearing form. ~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~*~~ Don't you just love that song by Selena? 'Dreamin of You' is my favorite song ever, besides 'Tuxedo Mirage.' 'I Could Fall In Love With You' always did remind me of Usagi and Mamoru; so now I have started a story spawning from an idea that stayed long neglected in my head, thought up one night when I was listening to that lovely song. Comments are appreciated! Always! ~May the stars shine brightly upon you, Starlit Princess, gentle, wise (but panicky) ruler of the Realm of Romance @)~~>~~>~~~
