Title: Kiss me at Midnight chapter #1 ( One odd Day ) Rating: PG13 mild cursing E-mail ( shenkoskyusa@netscape.net ) By Kas My Sailor Moon Web Site: (http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Blossom/2070) Thanks to Alicia Blade and Lady Starra, for putting this up. Also to every one who's been e-mailing me. ................................................................... Disclaimers: I don't own Sailor Moon, but I envy those who do. ................................................................... Somewhere in the universe there are happy little spirits, content to sit back and relax. Never lifting a finger and smiling all the time. But on this day, they would take to the town and take pity on sad souls, then find the 'said sad souls true love' and make them see reason. And in order to do this the spirits will take to manipulating the forces of nature and messing with logic as well as common sense. The manipulative little creatures will pull every stunt in the book, for they are often referred to as cupids, and today was known as Valentines Day. ................................................................... Mamoru Chiba stomped down the streets of Tokyo in a huff. He was having the mother of all bad days. Rage boiled over inside of him, as he cursed every happy face, chirping bird, smiling couple, barking dog, heart shaped candies, stuffed teddy bears and every stinking peace of nature that was left on this God forsaken world. His life - in his opinion - sucked! His whole day started out bad. He had woken up 30 minutes late for school because he had apparently broken his alarm clock the night before when it fell off the nightstand. He had forgotten to pick the blasted thing up, witch resulted in him tripping on it first thing in the morning. Well as you could have guessed he missed his shower, missed his cup of coffee, missed his morning jog, missed running into Odongo Atima, and made it just in time to get yelled at by his Professor for missing class. The day proceeded to get worse from there on in, when he realized he had forgotten his paper on physics, then realized that he had *actually* forgotten to study! Something that had never in all his life happened to him. Getting snickered at by his fellow schoolmates was the icing on the cake when the Professor asked him to read his thoughts on his recent assignment for physics class. He ended up braking his *only* pencil before he had the chance to write down his notes for tomorrow's class. Embarrassing himself, by tripping on his own shoes when he got up to go and find a pencil sharpener, he involuntarily cursed rather fluently in his own stupidity. That only resulted in getting him the evil eye from his female Professor who had a thing about cursing. After looking for thirty minutes for the pencil sharpener and finally finding it, he raced back to class only to find that today's notes had been erased from the black board. Growling in frustration, he marched out of class and off to the restaurant down the street. After missing his morning coffee he was in DESPERATE need of caffeine. He got there only to find that THEY WERE OUT OF REGULAR! He wanted to ring the woman's neck for even *suggesting* decaffeinated. Quickly balling his hands into fists to keep from doing just that, he stormed out of there as fast as his feet could carry him. Realizing that he was only going to make things worse if he didn't release some of the pent up anger, he strolled to the nearest park. He was in desperate need of some of 'mother natures natural relaxation tactics.' Propping himself down on an empty bench, he took deep breaths and concentrated on the serenity of the lake in front of him. This truly was a beautiful spot, surrounded by trees and flowers. The sweet smell of roses that lingered over from the rose bush. He always came here to get away from it all. The noise, the people, the classes, the work. This place was just beautiful and it was his spot. Unfortunately he wasn't the only one who thought so. One, two, three, four couples popped up from out of no where, and nestled into 'his' spot! Two on either side of the lake, one by the trees and one on his bench. Shaking his head in denial of it all, he reached down to grab his bag, and ended up bumping the couple beside him. Turning to apologize he quickly realized it would be lost on them for the couple in question were ~as he would later say~ sucking face. He could tell that they were obviously teenagers and still in school, by the uniforms they were wearing. The question as to why two teens had skipped and decided to make out in a park was beyond him, until he noticed the heart shaped ear rings the girl wore. Turning to see one of the other couples kissing while a girl held on to a stuffed teddy bear that read "I Love you" and a different girl held a heart shaped box of chocolates. "Great," he breathed while standing from his perch on the bench. "Its valentines day." He hadn't even realized it was so close. Sighing in self-pity, Mamoru slowly walked away from the park. He hated Valentines Day; in his opinion it was the worst holiday ever made! Well that and Christmas, and Mothers day, and Fathers Day. Coming to the conclusion that they all sucked, he looked down at his watch and had to do a double take. Staring at the digits in complete disbelief, he broke into a dead run. How in God's name was he going explain to his boss why he was 20 minutes late for work? When he did arrive at work he got snapped at and then informed that he would be working the late shift for the rest of the week, starting tomorrow. He ended up getting stuck with tons of paper work and then not being able to even start on any of it because his bosses' secretary was out sick. He was quickly demoted and became secretary boy for the rest of the afternoon. He ran around all day delivering stock reports and papers while fetching a coffee or two with a donut or three. He inexplicably suffered from a klutz attack and spilt coffee on one of his bosses who remarkable enough didn't fire him. Instead he had him run all over Tokyo, to fetch his personal laundry, check on his car, get harassed at by the mechanic and get blamed for being the one to blow out his bosses brakes, along with other time wasting things. He had *literally* punched out his time card and stomped out of work. Then realized that in all the commotion he still hadn't gotten his coffee! And on top of that, he now had a headache the size of Texas. And that brings us to the present, where Mamoru is currently cursing under his breath and stomping towards the arcade, in search of caffeine. He couldn't be sure but he had the feeling his eyebrow was twitching. Breathing a sigh of relief as the arcade came into view, he quickened his pace, as little coffeepots danced around his head. Reaching the sliding doors he waited for them to open. They didn't. His eyebrow did another "twitch twitch" as he put both hands on the door and forced them open. Quickly jumping in before they slammed shut again, then spotting the coffee pot, siting on the counter, his eyes lit up like a child on Christmas morning as he ran to the beverage. There it was, with the words "regular" imprinted on the pot. A slow smile spread across his face, as he stared at it. Taking a seat he realized that he needed a cup! Looking around and seeing Motoki busy with customers he sighed in anguish. "Hey Mamoru-san!" chirped a girl's voice. Oh no, he knew that voice and right now, he really didn't want to deal with the owner of it. Plastering a smile onto his face he turned around vary slowly. Between clenched teeth he managed to get out, "Hello Rei-chan." Don't get me wrong, it wasn't that he didn't like Rei, it was just that he always got the impression she wanted more then friendship. Not that it was a hideous idea or anything, it was just that well, he required lots of coffee when he was around Rei. Don't go jumping to conclusions though, he liked Rei, really he did. She was vary pretty with her long silky black hair and vibrant purple eyes, she was smart and self reliant - also good points. They had things in common and she could challenge him in many ways. But aside from that he considered her more of a sister then anything else. And he was much to busy for a girlfriend now anyway. He couldn't possibly squeeze in any time for her or any one else, except for maybe a certain Odongo Atima, but the chances of her actually wanting to spend time with him were nonexistent; to say the least. Frowning at his miserable love life, or lack thereof, he slumped deeper into his seat. "You know Mamoru-san I was thinking, you don't get out enough." 'Oh boy', Mamoru looked over at the coffeepot with a pout. Rei posed to sit down next to him on one of the other stools. She looked nervous, not a good sign. "And I was just thinking about this charity auction for Valentines Day." She took a deep breath then stopped and looked down at her hands before continuing. "So I got to thinking and um it would be nice if you went you know? I mean cause Motoki had said you weren't and um I thought that maybe that was because you didn't have any one to go with." She stopped again. Mamoru turned back to the coffeepot. 'Where in the world was Motoki, with his cup?' Looking back over at Rei, he noticed her fidgeting with a strand of her hair. She did that when she got nervous. He knew where the conversation was going and wasn't looking forward to the stop. Wondering if death by caffeine withdrawal was possible, he started to wonder where the lovely Odongo Atima was. She was normally in here by now. Boy he could sure use a nice little battle of wits with her right about now. He unconsciously looked over to the doors in hopes to see her cheery face and cute odongo's. No such luck, instead an overweight boy walked in. Definitely not his Odongo! Looking back to Rei when she resumed her talking, he noticed the mug in her hand. "Well as I was saying.." "Excuse me Rei were you almost done with that?" he cut in. Before giving her a chance to reply, Mamoru took the mug from her hand and studied it. Looking around, and seeing that there was no place he could dump the rest of the tea, he frowned in frustration. 'Could this day get any worse?' Just then a crazy idea struck. Could he really do this? he asked himself while considering the insanity of what he was thinking. Looking back to the coffee pot then to the cup, he realized it was the only way. Stretching his arm out he proceeded to tip the cup upside down, and spilt the rest of the tea onto the floor. A smug smile came to his face as he starred at the now empty mug. Guess he could do it. Rei stared eyes wide and mouth agape at his action, while he reached over and grabbed the coffee pot. Pouring a large glass he quickly brought the beverage to his lips and guzzled it down. A long sigh of relief escaped his lips as he savored the bitter sweet taste. It was just right, not to hot, not to cold. Perfect. After pouring another class this time, deciding to sip it, he looked back to Rei, who was still watching him like he had flipped. "You were saying?" he asked sweetly. She leaned forward, and asked quietly "Mamoru-san a.. are you all right?" Looking as though he had no idea what she meant, he replied "Fine why?" She shrugged her shoulders and continued to stare at him oddly. The sound of the doors opening caught his attention, looking over and seeing a petite blond girl with a rather unique hair style walk though the doors, with one of her friends. This brought a genuine smile to his face as watched them sit down in a booth. Suddenly a frown came to his lips. >From where he was sitting, she didn't look too happy. He had the most insistent need to go over to her, but was stopped dead in his tracks when Rei started talking again. Looking from Odongo to Rei, he realized he couldn't just leave Rei, it would be too rude to walk out on her. So he did the only thing he could. Nothing. He would have to wait before he got the chance to match wits with the lovely Odongo Atima. "Hey girls!" Usagi and Minako looked up to see Motoki standing before them with a friendly smile. Usagi sighed and rested her head on the table. "Hello Motoki-san," came her muffled greeting. He cocked an eyebrow and looked towards Minako expectantly. She caught the look and mouthed the words "don't ask" before turning back to watch Usagi mope. Motoki looked from the tray that was propped up on his arm to the girl, who looked as though the world itself was going to end, and quickly made the decision. "Here you go Usagi-chan, it's on the house," he announced as he handed her the triple chocolate sundae. Her eyes lit up for a moment and a grateful smile came to her lips. "Thank you Motoki-san, that's really sweet." Well it wasn't the blinding smile he was use to but it would do for now he assured himself as he got ready to leave. That is before Minako stopped him with a frown. "What am I? Chop liver?" The question went unanswered for a small period of time as he tried making sense of what she had asked him. Once understanding her he looked to the trays last item. A chocolate shake that was suppose to go to that guy in the back. You know, the one annoying guy who blew up when anything was late? Motoki was sure that every place that sold food had one. Sighing he took the shake of the tray and handed it to Minako - who smiled thankfully. "They only like you cause you give you them stuff," he mumbled as he left to get another chocolate shake. He could all ready hear the man's reply when he gave him the shake ten minutes late. Usagi looked over the table to see Minako sipping her shake, and humming a song. Looking over to her own treat she noticed that her appetite seemed to be missing. Pushing the sundae up a little, she relaxed into her seat and propped her arms up onto the table before laying her head down as well. "What a day.." came her slightly muffled voice. Minako looked at her friend sadly with a disapproving frown. "Come on Usagi-chan it's not that bad." Usagi raised her head to look at the other girl "What are talking about? You all have dates, remember?" Apparently now that Motoki was gone the 'girl talk' could begin. Minako rolled her blue eyes at her friend "So it's not like you have to *have* a date for the party, you can come with us." "Minako-chan, it's a valentines party, why would I want to go alone?" Minako smiled proudly at her friend. "Because they have FOOD!" The sound of Usagi's head hitting the table echoed threw the arcade. "OK, OK, so maybe not the best reason, but who ever said you won't meet someone there, huh? I mean what if it turns out you do meet someone and you end up marrying the guy? Would you really pass up that opportunity?" Usagi looked directly at the blond in front of her. "Number one all the guys there will have a date already. Number two if I went by that theory then I'd have to go every where for a chance encounter. I mean, be realistic! I'd have a better chance of meeting my soul mate on the street or in the arcade or something." Usagi looked up, to meet the determined eyes of one of her best friends. ' Oh, no. I know that look.' "Usagi-chan there is no way of knowing that all the guys will have a date. It's going to be a huge party, with plenty of single guys remember it's a charity thing." Usagi sighed and stared at her friend, How was she going to get out of this? Didn't Minako understand that she didn't want to go? 'Well that isn't really true, you do want to go, just not with anyone who's asked that's all, and the one man you do want won't ever ask you' she thought dejectedly. "Minako, please. Just drop it," she pleaded with the other blonde. "Alright but you have to promise me something." "What is it Minako-chan?" At this point she was ready to gnaw of her own arm if it would bring the conversation to an end. Her lack of a date had been the main topic all week. If she wasn't being lectured by Minako, it was Mako-chan, if not her Rei, and Ami! To many people where talking of her misery this week, and she for one didn't like it. "Promise that if someone asks you then you'll go?" Usagi looked at the other blonde tiredly. "Why?" Minako smiled sweetly at her. "Well cause if someone asks then you won't be home all night, alone. And besides I really want you to be there with me and the other girls." Usagi sighed in defeat, 'Well the party is tonight, what are the chances of being asked any way?' "All right Minako-chan, I promise if someone asks, I'll go. Happy now?" Minako nodded, "Yeah if that's the best I can get out of you." Standing up defeat, Minako got ready to the game area she turned around just in time to crash into Motoki, spilling her milk shake on the floor and him. "Oops! Sorry Motoki-san," came her blushing reply, before high tailing it out of there. Motoki sadly looked down at his shirt, and sighed. He had *just* gotten it washed to. Turning around to leave and mumbling something about hating his job before, leaving to clean up. Usagi sighed again. She couldn't let Minako know that she *had* been asked out, but just turned them down, if she did then her and the others would wonder why she wouldn't go. And there was *no* way she was going to tell them that she only wanted Mamoru to take her. They'd think she had gone nuts or something. Heck she couldn't believe it herself. And there was NO WAY that she'd go alone just to watch him dance with some beautiful girl all night. No, she just wanted to stay home tonight... less painful that way. Suddenly the sound of the doors opening caught her attention. Despite her efforts she couldn't stop herself from turning around and seeing if it was *him*. Nor could she stop the pounding in her heart at the mere thought. Looking up towards the door, her hopes crashed immediately as she seen some other guy walking through the sliding doors. Realization hit her as she recognized the guy. Mark Sheen a real jerk that went to her high School. He had this attitude that every girl on the face of the earth should bow to him, apparently he thought he was something special. Usagi had to admit he wasn't ugly with deep green eyes, and thick brown hair, defined cheek bones and a nice build; he was one of the most kawaii guys in school. But his personality was a true minus zero, and not the type she wanted anything to do with. Turning back around she continued to stare at the bowl of uneaten ice cream in front of her while wondering why all the cute ones were either vain or jerks. ' Well maybe not *all* the cute ones.' She told herself silently as she started day dreaming about a certain man with thick black hair and deep blue eyes. Sighing in regret for something that would never happen, she sunk deeper into her seat. Suddenly she felt eyes on her and turned around to see only that Mark was watching her. 'Oh, no' was her only first distinctive thought as he began strolling over to her. 'Good lord please just let him keep on walking.' No such luck. He stopped right at her table and slid into the seat opposite from her. "Hello Usagi-chan, how have you been?" "Who's that?" the question stopped anything further Rei had planed on saying. Looking up to follow Mamoru's gaze she landed on Usagi, looking rather helpless, while trying to talk to... who was that? Oh Lord! A laugh erupted from Rei's lips as the knowledge of the situation dawned on her. 'Oh well better to let Usagi work this one out on her own' she thought silently as she realized she still hadn't answered Mamoru's question. "That's Mark Sheen, Mamoru-san, he's kind of what the girls like to call a "boyfriend don't". This made him rase an eye brow in question. Rei shrugged her shoulders and looked back to the situation unfolding only thirty feet away from them. "That guy is a complete jerk, Mamoru-san, a real piece of work. He's more vain then the super models in Hollywood, also he has more nerve then a...a well he's in his own category on that one. Mark's whole life revolves around Mark, and only Mark. He's the perfect question mark as to why the good looking men are either vain or jerks. Not to mention he has money, and he thinks he's better then every one! I'd like to watch Usagi, get out of this one." Mamoru quickly looked back to Rei, with a sinking suspicion. "What do you mean, Rei-chan?" She made a motion towards the two of them before standing up, and getting ready to leave. "Are you kidding? There's no way Usagi's going to be able to turn down someone with that much nerve. And lets face it, Mark almost always gets what he wants, and right now he has his eyes set on an Odongo." Quickly realizing she had never finished asking him to the party, she sighed. She had the sinking suspicion he would have said no any way. Turning around she hurried off to the temple, she was going to call the girls and fill them in on the latest news. Hesitating a moment she looked back over to Mamoru who still had his eyes glued to Usagi. Sighing in realization, she quickly wished him the best and began to wonder what Chad was doing. After all she couldn't vary well go after a man who was head over heels for her best friend, now could she? Mamoru stared silently, watching the couple with intent. It shouldn't bother him that the Odongo atima, looked upset with her situation. And he certainly shouldn't want to ring the boys neck for making advances towards her - but he did. He'd watched as she tried getting him to leave, but the boy wouldn't budge, rooted to the ground with intent he held firm and ignored her obvious wish. Something about the whole thing felt wrong. She certainly wasn't acting herself. Usagi usually loved talking to others but she seemed intent on getting this Mark to leave. Just as intent as he seemed in staying. Deciding to stay out of it - no matter how much it irked him - he turned back to pour himself another cup of coffee. When he allowed his gaze to wander back to the blond, he was surprised to find that she looked noticeably pale, almost as though she would faint dead away. Surprised at her sudden change, anger began to cloud his mind as he stood from his seat. So much for staying out of it, he thought lightly as he began to walk towards the couple. Whatever the guy had said it obviously had upset her, and he couldn't let it go on any longer, not when she looked so dammed helpless. He told himself silently that he should just ignore it, let her get up and walk away on her own, but as much as he wished he could, he couldn't stop his feet from carrying him to her. Her face paled more, and her eyes grew wide, looking for all the world to be a trapped rabbit. Good Lord he never knew Odongo could get so white! He was positive now that something was amiss. He'd never seen her act this way, and that upset him. She shouldn't ever look so... frightened, yes that was it, and there Was no doubt in his mind, that she was *scared*. Her fear only increased his anger and his pace as strode over to them. He wasn't entirely sure what he'd do when he got there, but had the sinking suspicion he might do bodily harm to the guy for messing with her. No matter how hard he told himself that his little 'crush' on the blonde had nothing to do with his worry, he found it hard to believe himself. She was just a..a well um.. friend! And he was just coming to the rescue like any one else would have, had they seen the situation unfold. That was it! This had nothing to do with how many times she had preoccupied his thoughts, or how many times he had not so accidentally 'bumped' into her. 'Huh uh, no way,' he told himself silently while flinching when he heard an inner voice call him a liar. Mark watched the girl, she was beautiful; damn her for refusing him! Didn't she know who he was? Well she'd soon find out, he thought silently while biting back the sting of rejection. He wasn't use to being turned away flat and he hated it when it happened, which is why it almost never happened. "Do you have any idea what I do to people who turn me down?" he asked, his voice low and menacing as he watched her flinch away from him. Well good he wanted to frighten her a little, she'd turned him down three times! Everyone new he wanted to go out with her. That was why he'd been playing it cool, but now when the hour was drawing near, he had to show her that it was in her best interest to agree. After all it wasn't as though he wouldn't carry out the threat. And there was no way he'd show up at that party with out her. Not after telling all the guy's he'd have her for his date for the party, then end up being humiliated when he came in alone! He just couldn't let that happen. And by God, if she refused him, he'd make her pay. She had grown slightly pale, and looked at him as though he had grown a second head. Those beautiful eyes held fear in them. He quickly decided he liked it when she was afraid. "If you don't go with me then, I promise I'll make you pay dearly. I know allot of people who wouldn't mind, doing *anything* for money, and there's no way it could ever be traced back to me." He had deliberately stressed the "anything" part, to leave her thinking about what it could mean. She paled even more and he stifled a laugh. It was hard when she looked so helpless. Yep threatening her was the best way, he realized silently, plus it help ease his tattered ego. After all nothing made him feel better then knowing someone else feared him, it gave him a little serge of power. Standing abruptly, he smoothed out the wrinkles in his shirt before leaning over and griping her hand. She looked startled even more frighten when he yanked her up from her seat with ease almost causing her to lose he balance. Leaning close he whispered "So what will it be then, Usagi-chan? because either you go with me or face the inevitable." Mark suddenly gasped as he felt a hand clasp his shoulder in a death grip. He had a pretty fair idea that this wasn't one of the girls she hung around with. Not even the amazon had a grip like this! It felt as though someone were crushing his shoulder, and he couldn't help but wince. "Oh I don't think she'll be taking ether choices." Quickly looking towards Usagi, to see a mix of relief and shock clearly written across her features, he cursed. Well shit! If she thought one of her crummy friends were going to harass him she had another thing coming, he wasn't exactly incapable of fighting. He'd spent lot's of time and money on learning how to fight, and how to take his own, no he wasn't at all frightened now. Regardless to how strong this guys grip was. Shrugging of the other mans grip, he turned to his challenger, perfectly ready to defend his pride. That is, before he seen the man. Suddenly he wasn't so sure about a fight. The guy in question wasn't a regular 14 year old guy from school, but instead an 18 year old man. He was bigger, stronger, and even a little taller then Mark, with an obvious hatred blaring in his eyes as he stared down at him. The mans eyes had the power to make Mark question his chances and would of even if he had been the one better matched. The guy looked ready to kill! Realizing his disadvantage as he sized his opponent up, a ripple of fear went through him. "I can give you two choices," said the dark haired man coldly. "Number one, you walk away from here UN bruised and never talk to her again," he said while motioning to the beauty behind him. "Or number two, I can make bruises appear in places the light of the sun will never touch as well as much more... noticeable places." Cocking his head to the side a smug smirk crossed his lips before continuing. "Then you can explain to your friends how you got beaten down in the middle of an arcade. It's up to you." The man had a challenging note in his voice, and Mark knew he was being bated. He hated that! Hated the smug look on this guys face. Hated being teased, but he knew better then to accept the challenge. No, he wouldn't fight him, no matter how badly wanted to. He knew his chances were naught, but that didn't mean he would walk out with his pride completely ruined. No, he'd show them he wasn't afraid even if he was shaking in his his shoes. Mamoru could barely hold back the impulse to punch the guy. He had arrived just when this Mark had stood up. Since his back was to Mamoru, and Usagi, watching him so intently neither had noticed him sneak up on them. When he seen the guy stand he held back, hoping he would leave, so that Mamoru wouldn't have to do anything, but that thought was squashed when he had seen him grab Usagi and yank her up. He had barely caught the menacing words whispered into her ear, and what he had heard had outraged him. He then loomed over him and gripped him by the shoulder. Both Usagi and Mark had quickly become aware of his presence. He decided not to let the shock on her face upset him too much, but didn't she know he'd help her if she in trouble? Apparently not because the shock was clearly there and it had only angered him further. She should know that he'd protect her damn it! Realizing with a slight twinge of guilt that it was his fault she didn't trust him, he held on tighter to the other man. After he had let go and allowed Mark to turn around and watched as he sized him up, he took note of the familiar gleam of fear in the younger man's eyes. There wouldn't be a fight. Mamoru would of been lying if he had said he didn't want one, but if a fight were to be started he wasn't going to do the starting. But still he had to make it clear that Usagi was off limits, witch was why he'd given the 'choices' to him. He watched in amazement as the guy seemed to understand but not care. He turned to Usagi, and smiled a wicked little grin before replying "Hey chill, I get it. I'll back off.. for now. Oh and Usagi-chan, I'll see you at the party." Mamoru couldn't believe the man's gull, he quickly took note that Usagi, didn't seem to appreciate the fact that he would be waiting for her, and before he had a chance to think the words flew out of his mouth. "Well then I suppose I'll see you there as well seeing how she's my date and all." Smacking himself surly wouldn't have sufficed, for Mamoru had just done the stupidest thing in his life. Watching both Usagi and Mark's mouth drop in shock. Then the sound of a tray Motoki had been holding hit the floor with a "clatter". He had known Motoki was ease dropping only a couple feet away, and glared at him, as the blond just stood gaping back. Well no one was more shocked than him, he though silently as he wished he had just shut his trap. "Well..." said Mark, the first to recover. "I suppose I'll see you then." And with that he stalked out of the arcade to no don't mend his wounded ego. Now that the whole situation was over with, he was left to face an open mouthed Odongo. He really wished she'd stop staring at him that way. Oh Hell this whole day had been rotten, since the beginning. Having extremely freak klutz attacks, being late, mission assignments, forgetting things and now speaking without thinking! That was one of the weirdest of them all, Mamoru prided himself on always being a quick thinker and thinking it out before said it. It just wasn't him to go and blurt it out only to regret it later; but oddities seemed to be the rising trend today. Watching Odongo with an intense gaze and wondering when she'd finally verbally bash him one good, he was shocked to say the least when she shut her mouth and flung her self into arms in a giant hug. It was his turn to stare open mouthed in wonderment as he felt her slight weight thrown onto him as she squeezed the air right out of his lungs in an affectionate embrace. She had given no warning and the quickness of her movements had caught him completely off guard, leaving him open to any and all emotions the little imp stirred in him. Closing his mouth and slowly wrapping his arms around her, he pulled her slight frame closer yet, and marveled at how she felt in his arms. The embrace was nothing like he'd ever known. Not that he went around hugging people or anything but the few that had hugged him hadn't felt anything like this. He felt a freshness flow through him, and an indescribable feeling of warmth washed over him as he held her tightly in the embrace. She felt just as he'd thought she would, but better. So amazingly soft and warm, that he found it unbearable not to hold on a little tighter and bury his face in the nap of her neck, giving in completely to the new warmth that circled him. She smelt amazing as well, like lilacs and roses, it was a combination he found that he liked very much. He then realized that all the stupid dumb things that had happened today no longer mattered at all. He wasn't mad at his boss, wasn't worried about the exam, didn't care about the coffee, all that mattered was that a girl who only yesterday wouldn't send a smile his way for all the money in the world, was now wrapped in his ARMS! Suddenly he realized that it wouldn't stay that way, even though she hadn't pulled away just yet, he knew he couldn't hold her forever, although the thought was more then appealing at the moment and would forever be. Almost as suddenly as the thought had gone through his mind, the angel in his arms began to brake the contact. Wishing for anything but the inevitable loss, Mamoru only stood up a little more fully and loosened his grip but didn't let his arms drop from around her sides. He couldn't let her go just yet, and already he felt some of the warmth of the embrace fading. Looking down only to see that her face was turned away to the floor he wondered curiously what she thinking. Hearing a "clunk" sound, he tore his gaze away from her bowed head to see that Motoki had dropped his mop as well. Still staring in shock and looking as though he might not recover any time soon, Mamoru quickly forgot about Motoki and looked back to the angel in his arms. He now could see that she was trying unsuccessfully to hide the cherry blush that covered her cheeks from him. His lips tweaked a little before a broad smile dawned on his face. He couldn't help it, really he couldn't, and he just suddenly felt like smiling down at her adorable face. ............................................................. The end..
