As well as to every one who has e-mailed me, some of you are just so KIND! Thanks! .............................................. Disclaimers: I do not own Sailor Moon, Trix, Lucky-charms or that blasted rabbit! .............................................. *Kiss me at Midnight Continued* Mamoru closed his mouth and slowly wrapping his arms around Usagi, he pulled her small frame slightly closer and marveled at how she felt in his arms. The embrace was nothing like he'd ever known. Not that he went around hugging people or anything, but the few that had hugged him hadn't felt anything like this. He felt a freshness flow through him and an indescribable feeling of warmth wash over him as he held her tightly in the embrace. She felt just as he'd thought she would, and yet better. So amazingly soft and warm, that he found it almost impossible not to hold on a just a little tighter, bury his face in the nap of her neck and give in completely to the new warmth that circled him. She smelled amazing, like lilacs and roses, it was a combination he concluded he liked very much. Mamoru then realized that all the stupid things that had happened today no longer mattered at all. He wasn't mad at his boss, worried about the exam, he didn't CARE about the coffee. All that mattered was a that girl, who only yesterday wouldn't send a smile his way for all the money in the world, was now wrapped in HIS arms! Regretfully, he realized that even though she hadn't pulled away just yet, it wouldn't stay that way for much longer, knew he couldn't hold her forever although the thought was more then appealing at the moment. Almost as suddenly as the thought had gone through his mind the angel in his arms began to brake the contact. Wishing for anything but the loss of her warmth, Mamoru stood up a little more and loosened his grip, but didn't let his arms drop from around her sides. He couldn't let her go just yet, but he was already feeling the warmth from the embrace fading. Mamoru looked down only to see that her face was turned away to the floor and he wondered what she thinking. Hearing a "clunk" sound, he tore his gaze away from Usagi's bowed head to see that Motoki, had dropped his mop as well. Motoki was still staring in shock and looking as though he might not recover any time soon, and Mamoru quickly forgot about him to look back to the angel in his arms. He now could see that she was trying (unsuccessfully) to hide the cherry blush that covered her cheeks, from him. His lips tweaked a little before a broad smile dawned on his face. He couldn't help it, really he just couldn't he suddenly felt like smiling down at her adorable face. He'd always been able to hide how she effected him before, but now that she was (and he still couldn't get over this part) in his arms he couldn't hide any of his emotions from her. ' Was it possible that after spending 18 years perfecting a sold wall of control and resolve that a little sprite like girl had managed to brake through the barriers with a simple hug? 'he silently mused. " I.. I'm sorry Mamoru-san, I guess I got carried away and well.." ~She's apologizing for the hug~, he realized absent- mindedly as he stared into her eyes. He found it hard to pull himself out of this odd sort of stupor that he had fallen into, so took him a moment to answer. " Don't worry about it Odango, I'm just glad you didn't belt me for saying that you and I were... um going out tonight." He wasn't sure that he should of said that, not really knowing what she'd do once he had reminded her of that little tid bit. And judging by the appalled look on her face, their little truce had ended. She stood on tip toes and looked up at him while trying to gain as much height as possible, which still left her shorter than him by at least foot. Her eyes were filled with anger all of a sudden, and he could of laughed at how adorable she looked. He was well over a foot and a half taller then the small slip of a girl who was trying to stare him down. But what irked him, was that it was actually working! She looked madder then.. then... well him less then 30 minutes ago. He decided to go for boyish charm as he smiled coyly back at her, she didn't seem to notice. " How could you possibly say that? " For the life of him he couldn't understand what she had meant by that but before he had the chance to ask, she continued. "Do you have any idea how insane that sounds?" Once again he continued to stare at her in astonishment, he hadn't the slightest clue as to what she meant. " To think, that for even a moment I would..would hit you! for helping me is CRAZY!! " 'OK she WAS mad and according to her it was because he had thought she was mad at him.(AN: Anyone else confused? *Kas and Mamoru raise their hands*)Now there's a odd reason if I ever heard one.' But before he could express his opinion he was stopped by her abrupt movements,as she quickly broke free of his light embrace and stomped out of the arcade doors. Obviously intent on leaving the arcade and him to think about her words (a tactic women all over the world know). Yell at him, leave him completely bewildered, and then walk away for fear of yelling at him some more. For a moment Mamoru stared at the doors while chewing on his bottom lip a and wondering what in the world had just happened. Then quickly coming to his senses, he darted for the door. He wasn't going to let it end like this, not when he had every intention of taking her to that party. ********************************************************* Usagi stomped down the street and away from the arcade. She didn't exactly know why she was so mad at him, but she did know that it was all his fault! And she still couldn't get over Mark's nerve, or how scared she had been. She was Sailor Moon, champion of love and justice fighter of evil...trembling in front of a regular guy? 'Well' she told herself silently, 'regardless of how strong you are as Sailor Moon, your not that strong as Tusikino Usagi. And hadn't Luna, told you that you couldn't fight humans when you were Sailor Moon?'her mind said. Thinking about it a moment she realized she was right! Luna HAD told her that, one day when she had been grumbling about how much she wished she could just beam Mamoru-baka with her tiara, and be done with it. She had been firmly reprimanded for expressing her wish, and told that it would kill a regular human. She didn't want to kill Mark, and that was her only weapon at the moment. Another reason sailor moon couldn't fight him was because she couldn't show him who she was even just in order to scare him off. She finally stopped reprimanding herself for her fear, and realized that she didn't handle the situation *that* horribly. ' Maybe ' she thought silently, 'I don't have anything to worry about at all.' A smile dawned on her face, ' Yeah, Mark, had looked pretty scared when Mamoru-san, threatened him. ' A slight giggle escaped from her lips as she thought about what had just happened. But she couldn't blame Mark, Mamoru HAD looked pretty threatening standing there, frowning down at him. She suddenly realized she had never seen Mamoru really mad before! When they fought it was always for fun, no one really ever got mad, at least that was how she had always seen it. And BOY WAS HE MAD! she was ready to duck and cover herself, and the glare wasn't even directed at her! She supposed that was why she had been so surprised, it wasn't every day the man who teases you senseless comes to the rescue like a dashing knight, now is it? 'Especially a tall dark and handsome one at that.... well maybe that does happen every other day.' she told herself while remembering the kawaii Tuxedo Kamen. ' But Mamoru-san is different, and not necessarily in a bad way. I mean at least you can see him every day, and not just when your life depends on it. Plus' she thought silently, ' he stays around to talk.' Finding herself in a slight daydream of a man with deep blue eyes and ebony hair she didn't even realized that the object of her dream was now walking behind her and trying to regain his breath. Realizing the turn her thoughts had taken she quickly put a stop to it. " No, no, no! Do not think like that! " she told herself as she continued walking not realizing that she had an audience. " No good will come of it." She continued. "So don't try and....huh?" She was cut short when she turned her head to look in one of the store windows, and found not one but two reflections. Chewing on her bottom lip she studied the second reflection. The figure stood in a relaxed pose less then one foot behind her towering over her, with his hands in pockets, leaning back on his heels. Mamoru watched the back of her head with a knowing smile. Darn him! she could actually *feel* him smirking at her. Closing her eyes a moment and taking a deep breath, to calm her beating heart, she re-opened her eyes and screeched in surprise. No longer was he standing behind her, instead he had taken the time to get between her and the wall and level his face a mere inch away from hers. Giving her an amazing view of just how deep those blue eyes were. She jumped back and almost tripped at his stunt. " Why can't you stay in one place? " She asked in an exasperated tone. " I don't know, why do you talk to yourself? "He countered with a lopsided grin. She felt a blush rise to her cheeks in embarrassment, and something else. He was smiling at her again, and she was finding it hard to keep her heart from pounding out of her chest. Quickly looking down to her feet (in order to hide her blush) she waited a moment for the red in her cheeks it to go away. When she looked back up, he was still smiling but it had grown wider, and she knew, She just KNEW that he had seen it. 'Darn him!' He heard the frustrated sigh escape her lips, and tried to stop the smile from stretching more. It was just to hard NOT to tease her, she looked so beautiful, when she was mad. Her face would cover with a becoming pink blush which, in turn made her soft creamy skin radiant with life. Her pouty little lips would turn into a frown, or a strait line and her eyes.....my GOD, those eyes! would jump with blue flames, causing his heart to flip around in his chest like a fish out of water. Right around then was when his brain would turn to jellow, and he would end the conversation for fear of making a fool of himself. The worst of it was that he loved it. He loved how amazingly alive he felt when he seen her, or the way his heart would stop then start back up 90 times faster at just the mention of her name. It was like he was the dead battery, and she was the charger. ( OK really stupid expression, I know, I know. ) Although he could have done without the sweaty palms, nervousness, pounding chest and the many other oddities that always seemed to happen, he knew it was worth it...she was worth it. Heck if he got convolutions every time he saw her it would be worth it. Suddenly, realizing the stupidity of his own thoughts he shook his head to clear them away. He had to talk to her, that was why he had followed Usagi in the first place...right? Deciding not to answer that he looked up at her and opened his mouth to ask her...What? What was he going to ask her? His mouth hung open a moment as he thought up how to phrase the question, but came up with nothing. Noticing the odd look he was receiving from Odango, Mamoru quickly shut his mouth and had the good grace to blush. The right side of her mouth quirked a little as she tried her best to not smile at him. ' She was mad darn it! She had to stay mad!.. But he just looked so cute when he did that. ' Blushing at her own thoughts about the man before her, Usagi mentally kicked herself. ' Stop thinking like that! this is Mamoru-baka, he has no interest in you,' she told herself 'and there's no reason why you should have any interest in him. The sooner you stop entertaining this pointless crush the better off you'll be.' Both stood there in the middle of the side walk blushing at each other profusely. ' This is uncomfortable. ' Usagi thought, as a dead silence settled over them. Rocking back and forth from one foot to the other Usagi kept quiet waiting to see what Mamoru had wanted to ask her. Mamoru in turn leaned back against the brick wall, and watched her slight movements while wondering how to phrase the his question AND get this nervous feeling (which had settled in his gut) to go away but and the senses of dread and anticipation, were making it hard for him concentrate. It was obvious to onlookers that neither were going anywhere until this hidden matter was resolved. After what seemed like hours of uncomfortable silence, Mamoru pushed himself away from the building and stood in front of Usagi. The silence had gotten to him and the horror of having to continue like this a minute longer was unthinkable. Stealing himself away for a moment he racking his brain, for ANYTHING!! Anything to say in order to make this eerie clam stop, he looked to Odango and blurted out the first thing that came to mind. "Mud!" Receiving a blank look from her, he nearly smacked himself physicaly and DID mentally. ' You sit there for what had to be at least ten minutes and that's the best you could come up with was...MUD!? ' He didn't even know what he meant by that.. Mud? It didn't even make sense he was thinking about...well her eyes, her hair, how right her small frame had felt in his arms when he had been holding her those few precious minutes ago. And he said mud? Good Lord, he really had flipped! 'Fix this! And QUICK!'his mind screamed. " Uh.. what I meant to say was um.. ah.. " Looking down at his shoes, and drawing a blank he noticed that her right foot was sitting in a puddle of mud..... 'Thank you God!' he thought silently. " Your standing in mud! " he announced proudly, as he realized he just might be able to talk his way out of this. Usagi quickly looked down to see that he was indeed right, her right foot was in a puddle of mud like water left over from when it had rained the day before. 'That's weird' she thought 'I could have sworn this spot had been dry when I stopped here.' .......................................................... Happy little sprites gave themslves a high five, and continued to watch the drama unfold. .......................................................... Shaking her head in astonishment Usagi, quickly removed her foot from the puddle and moved to a dryer spot, never taking her eyes off of Mamoru. He smiled coyly at her and she felt her heart do a triple Lutz before settling back into its regular rhythm. 'Goodness if he keeps staring at me like this I'm bound to do something stupid. Like letting those silly little fantasies run away with me. Or start seeing something in those deep blue eyes that isn't really there.' Realizing the silence was beginning to set in once more Mamoru, racked his brain until he found the perfect thing to say. 'It was so simple, perfect for an opener.' he silently mused. 'My Lord why hadn't I thought of this before???' Usagi looked down at her shoes for a moment to survey the damage. A disgusted frown pulled at the edges of her lips while she looked at the mud incrusted on her shoe. She still couldn't figure out how that had happened. " Odango? " At the sound of his voice, Usagi's head snapped up to face him. She was instantly aware of the way he was watching her. The look on his face could only be described as pure temptation. His smile was a cross between his every day cocky grin, a lazy smirk and a sensual pout, but his eyes held that, ' You know you want it ' look. The combination was lethal, it made her heart pound so hard against her chest that it hurt. Her legs felt like jellow, her mouth went dry, and amazing little shivers of electricity flowed up and down her spine. The only thought possible of running through her mind was...'Wow..' He motioned his finger at her in a way that said "Come here" and her mind went blank. Gulping she slowly forced her wobbly legs forward one step, and stopped. Mamoru's smile broadened a little and she was sure her heart had stopped as well. ' Good Lord, does he have any *idea* what he's doing to me? 'she thought. " Odango, " came his smooth voice. "Are you still mad at me?" 'Quick Usagi think! MAD!... mad about what!?' Mamoru smiled a little, he had to admit he never thought Odango would get flustered from his gaze, but he couldn't deny the rosey huge on her cheeks. Not wanting to sound stupid, but not having a single clue as to what he meant, she quickly decided that playing it off was her only hope. 'Darn him! If she could just think strait she wouldn't be having this problem. ' " No. No I'm not mad any more Mamoru-san.. Just don't do it any more."Usagi stated quickly. He stared at her a moment, he had been hoping that she would give him some clue as to *why* she had been mad in the first place. 'Can't win em all' he told himself silently before he continued. "Are you sure Odango, I mean now he thinks your going with me.." 'Good Lord, man! Why are you arguing about this? Just shut up!'his/her minds screamed. "Going?" came her soft reply. 'Common girl! Think!.. Oh that smile of his should be outlawed!' "Yeah, you know to the um.. party?" He was quietly waiting for her to answer. At last, it seemed like a light bulb had clicked on. "OH! that!" Mamoru raised an eye brow at her quizzically, and watched her blush a fiery crimson. 'Darn him!' "Well actually Mamoru-san, I um.. I wasn't planing on going at all."she covered and quickly dropped her head to analyze her shoes. 'I think I preferred the silence after all..'Thought Usagi. Mamoru seemed taken aback by her answer, and a bit hopeful, 'hopeful? Who are you kidding man? Your thrilled and you know it! 'his brain screamed back at him. Mamoru was hoping against hope, that the reason was because she didn't have a date, even though common sense had told him otherwise. "Well um... Why?" he asked hesitantly. 'Baka! what do you care? Its not like you could ask her.' his mind screamed 'Well why not?' he asked himself 'Lets see, she's 14, your 18 and also the candidate most likely to get shot DOWN!' The mind can be a cruel thing. "Well I.. I guess 'cause no one really asked me." Mamoru jerked his head up to look at the girl. 'She HAD to be kidding..' "Oh.." he replied slowly. Taking a deep breath,a leap of faith and questioning his own sanity, Mamoru smiled coyly at her. "Well, you know that guy is going to be there...?" Usagi shrugged her shoulders and looked nervously at her feet. 'What was are you thinking?' She repramaned herself.'It isn't like Mamoru-san is going to ask me or anything, I should have just kept on walking. After all' she contiued sadly 'Its better to walk away from the guy, then to have your heart broke by him. Wait a minute! Who said anything about my heart being broken? Oh, no..' "And" he continued "Motoki has been driving me crazy trying to get me to go. You know how he can be.." She nodded absentmindedly, still not daring to look up at him. "Well anyway I was thinking, you need to go because this guy needs to um... know that you're not afraid of him!"he finished nervously. 'Wait a minute. What's he telling me?'she thought wide eyed. Mamoru looked down at her bowed head and sighed. This was going to be harder then he'd thought, 'just don't loose your nerve!' he told himself. Without realizing it her silence was actually willing him to go on. 'After all,' he continued 'what's the worst that could happen? NO WAIT, DON'T ANSWER THAT!' Running a nervous hand through his thick ebony hair he blurted out. "Anywayscinceyoushouldgoandishouldgowemightaswellgotogethe r!" (AN: What he had actually said was: Any way since you should go and I should go we might as well go together.) Usagi jerked her head up in shock and stared at the nervous looking man if front of her. "W.. What did you say." she cringed when she realized her voice had cracked at the last part but didn't look away from him. He stared down at the doe eyed girl and felt his brain turn to jellow. 'Could her eyes possibly be any bigger?' He was quickly drowning in those deep pools of blue, and it he didn't look away soon he'd make a fool of himself. As if shaking himself from a deep sleep, Mamoru slowly pulled himself back into the real world. Swallowing the lump in his throat he realized that the silence had stretched on long after what would have been appropriate, and blew caution to the wind. Straightening his composure and speaking with much more confidence then he had, Mamoru looked deeply in to her eyes and replied. "Usagi would you like to go to the party with me?" OK her heart had stopped beating, she was sure of it. NO she was dreaming, yes that made much more sense. 'Yes this was a dream, and Mamoru was standing in front of her looking more handsome then she had ever seen him, while asking her to go out with him. Next he would tell her he loved her' she contuined to rationalize 'and then a giant ball of ice cream would fall from the sky. Right after that, a line of little leprechauns will come down the street while caring boxes of Lucky-charms, and being chased by a rabbit who's screaming at them to give him breakfast.' ~That pore rabbit never does get his Trix.~ Right after that she'll find herself naked in the middle of algebra class, While the teacher is trying to ask her why x isn't equal to 3x? Then she'll fall through the floor and land in bed where Luna will wake her up.' Usagi rationalized the situation and smiled while looking at the sky to see if she could already catch a glimpse of the giant ice cream that was soon going to fall on them. "Usagi?" Mamoru asked nervously. He was awaiting her reply when she had suddenly looked up to the sky as if waiting for something. He was beginning to wonder if she had even heard him when suddenly she announced, "Not now Mamoru-san I'm waiting for the ice cream." 'Well how was he suppose to answer that?' Shaking his head as if to clear it, he reached over and gripped her shoulder. Usagi seemed surprised by the action and looked from his hand to his face quizzicaly. "D.. did you hear me Usagi?" she nodded a little and looked back to his hand. She didn't remember this happening in the dream... and if this was a dream should she be able to feel his warm palm through her shirt? Suddenly it clicked and a deep blush rose to her cheeks. 'He must think you've gone nuts!'her mind screamed 'Well answer him baka!' "H.. hai Mamoru-san." He licked his bottom lip nervously and looked deep into her eyes as if trying to read her soul. Usagi was becoming rather flustered at the way he was watching her. "Yes to hearing me or.. yes to going with me?"Mamoru asked. She could have sworn his voice had quivered at that last part. She couldn't believe this was happening to her. Weather this was a dream or not, she sure as hell wouldn't say no. Not when he was looking at her like that, not when she could feel the heat of his hand through her shirt, nor when her brain had stopped working and her lips couldn't say no for anything in this world. "Yes to both Mamoru-san.. Um that is if you're sure you wouldn't mind taking me." That's all it took and his muscles relaxed, smile of happiness to crossed his face, and most importantly...he finally remembered to breath! He just couldn't believe she had said yes! Her words chanted through his brain like a solemn vow. "G.. great um I'll pick up at ah.. 6:30?" he knew his voice had cracked at the last part but he didn't care. 'SHE said YES!' She nodded a little and smiled shyly. "Um d.. do you need my address?" Mamoru couldn't help but blush a little, he hadn't even thought of that. He was busy thanking the gods that she had agreed, he didn't think past the right here and now. Nodding sheepishly he watched as she reached into her pocked and retrieved a peace of paper and pen. She quickly wrote down her address and phone number then handed it back to him shyly. Mamoru tried not to seem too eager as he took it from her hands, he looked at the paper as though it were a sacred treasure, then carefully tucked it in his pocket before turning back to her. "I.. I guess I'll see you at 6:30 then?" "Yeah, 6:30." Nodding a little Mamoru quickly turned around and began walking towards his apartment, he didn't want to give her extra time to think about it. If he did she might realize that she had agreed to go out with him and change her mind, besides he only had.. 2 hours to get ready! Turning around he noticed that she had began walking home as well and a small smile played on his lips. He felt like running all the way home and screaming his joy to the whole world. Quickly stomping down the idea, Mamoru settled for whistling a happy little tune. He just couldn't banish the thought that this was going to be a good day. .......................................................... Usagi slowly walked down the street in silence for fear that one wrong move could wake her from this dream. Her stomach felt as though it was infested with millions of giddy butterflies just bursting to get out. Her heart was pounding against her chest with the force of a hurricane, and her mind kept coming up with possible and not so possible scenarios for tonight. Her whole body was jumping with excitement and anticipation all in all, Usagi was positively thrilled. Cautiously she reached down to pinch her right arm and laughed when she felt the slight pain. Suddenly as though a wall had been knocked down she found that one laugh simply wasn't enough, and was soon bubbling over with laughter as she raced down the street to her home. After all, she had to get ready! .......................................................... Mamoru stood in front of a full length mirror staring at his reflection critically. Cocking his head to the side he analyzed his appearance for the ninth time that night. The dark gray long sleeved shirt seemed to hug his upper body in a light grasp. (Ever see Mamoru without the green jacket? Well it fits like that, but dark gray, not black.) It could have 'almost' been described as a turtle neck. Almost. The shirt was neatly tucked into a pair of black loose fitting dress slacks. Smoothing the shirt over with his hand, he reached up and straighted the collar of his black dress jacket. Frowning a moment he unbuttoned the jacket letting it hang open and smiled a little at the reflection, but something was still missing. Crossing the distance of the room he walked over to the dresser and picked up a gray handkerchief embroidered with black roses. Walking back to the mirror he folded the delicate material into the proper shape and placed it into his jacket pocket. Staring at his reflection once more a smile tugged at his lips. "Much better" he told himself. As he glanced over to the clock resting on his night stand Mamoru let out an audible gasp before running to his dresser and grabbing his keys. If he didn't hurry, he was going to be late picking up his Odango. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OK, E-AMIL ME!!!!! If you want the next chapter out quicker then this one e-mail me! If you have ideas or thoughts on this part or ideas for a new fanfic, I'd love to hear them. I was thinking that when this one is finished I might write a story about the second season. This time Serena doesn't remember Darien? OK, so it's been done but it's always been fun thought for a plot. Or if any one thinks I should re-write 'How to Drive?' or well I'll put that up in a few weeks. Write ME! Ja, Kas
