Title: Love at Second Sight: Part 8! Author: Rena ShieldsRated: PG E-mail: Kylara21@hotmail.com AN: The LAST CHAPTER! I'M ALMOST DONE! YES! IT MAY HAVE STUNK BUTI'M ALMOST FINISHED! Ok, let's get to the end! Disclaimer: I don't own Sailor Moon, et cetera, et cetera. ********************************************************* Darien choked. SERENA was singing tonight? No wonder she had beenso worried about Raye; she was her replacement! She hadn't wanted to sing tonight, but since Raye was sick, not singing was out of the question. Nor was he going to leave; not for all the gold in China. The red curtains opened, and the lights flashed in multi-colors on thestage. Serena walked out onto the stage. She was bathed in bright whitelight, making the color of her dress gleam. She wore an outrageously short white dress, split in the middle soyou could see another layer. At her neck, a silk red ribbon was tied, matching the red rose pinned in her hair. (Raye's rose, given to Serena forgood luck.) Her golden hair was done in its traditional meatballs, and thesilky streamers cascaded down to pool around her feet. (AN: The dress is a white version of Raye's costume when she really didsing the song in R season. If I described it too badly, just imagine thatdress on Serena in white.) Darien felt his pulse race in an instant. She was so poised! Shewas smiling brilliantly, and winked out at the audience. She captivated everyone, including himself. She was absolutely gorgeous, and thespunk she showed up there! That was why, this was WHY. She had the nerve to actas if she owned the world, despite his first guesses. He had thought thatSerena would have been scared of the stage, not happy to be there! If he hadbeen right, she was braver then he had thought. 'Serves you right to make a mistake! What did I tell you? I want you to say it. Say, I loveSerena for who she is and I'm going to tell her so!' Darien groaned. 'Not you again?!?! Why can't you just go away andbury yourself in some forgotten corner of my mind? Before you drive me OUTof my mind?' The subconscious sighed. 'Just say it and I will!' Darien grinned. 'Fine. I love Serena for who she is and I'm goingto tell her so!' The subconscious grinned. 'Go ahead then. Tell her!' Darien frowned. 'No, remember? I've got a princess already.' The subconscious gave a great big sigh. 'He'll be surprised.' Serena searched the audience frantically. 'Is he here? Is he here? Good, he isn't.' Surprisingly, she felt a little downcast. He wasn't here. Well, that was comforting. It meant he hadn't wanted to see Raye, so thatwas good. Wait; why should she care if he liked Raye? It wasn't as if shewas HIS girlfriend . . .'But you'd like that, wouldn't you Serena?' Serena mentally punched her subconscious. Goodness, it wasannoying when it came up to surface! It was just like Tuxedo Mask; surfaces out of nowhere, spouts of what THEY think, then leaves. However, the onedifference was she WANTED Tuxedo Mask to stay, yet he didn't. Her subconscious onthe other hand . . . Suddenly, she caught sight of a stern face, with SURPRISE writtenall over his face. He turned. Their eyes met. Something happened in that one, split second. She knew! She knewwhat she had to say. But-how? How could she tell him . . . She knew. "Ladies and Gentleman, thank you. This song is dedicated to someone, whom I'm asking this question. Darien, answer me back." Darien choked. Serena was dedicating the song to HIM? Why? Heknew he liked her, but he didn't think she liked him . . . or maybe she hatedhim, and this song was a dark, hatred filled song . . . or maybe! His heart suddenly coursed with hope. However, even if she did like him, hestill wasn't QUITE sure if he liked her . . . because of the princess. Song: Oh Starry NightI've waited all of my lifeFor the day when love appears Like a fairy tale in days gone byHe will rescue me from my fearsAnd now I'll feel him standing close to meAnd howCan I tell him what he means to me My heart stands still as he comesOh Starry NightIs this the moment I dream of Oh Starry NightTell me is he my own true loveEvery night I think of him Here in my lonely roomWaiting for my prince to come Wondering if he'll be here soonAnd ISit patiently waiting for a signAnd I Hope that his heart longs for mineHe calls my name, is he the oneOh Starry Night Is this the moment I dream ofOh Starry Night Tell me is he my own true love-Oh Starry Night! Is he the one that I dream of Oh Starry NightHow will I knowWill his love showIs he my own true love (Now, all Raye lovers out there don't bash me for giving HER song toSerena. I just think it fits Serena better. After all, waiting for my princeto come? It screams Serena. Raye does not have a prince, so please don'tflame me for this! I do like Raye, you know!) Just as the last verse ended, the lights shining on stage made a ***FIZZ*** sound, and they went out, with only the palest, dimmestlight still shining. 'The light's so dim; I can only see her silhouette . . .' HER SILHOUETTE! THAT WAS IT! IT WAS HER SILHOUETTE! More specifically, his princess' silhouette! Serena almost screamed when the lights when out. Slowly, sherealized there must have been some technical problems backstage. After a goodspout of cursing from backstage, the lights came back on. The audience rose on their feet, clapping and whistling. She was fabulous! The words were so loved as she sang them. She had sungthose words for someone in her heart. For Darien. Darien knew now. He loved Serena, with all his heart. Not for her beauty, not the way she looked, but for what she was, and what she did. And it did help that she was the princess . . . He loved her! And she had asked him a question. And he was not goingto just leave it unanswered! He stood up, and everyone else stood up with him. Everyone clapped, and hollered and whistled. Except Darien. He hadn't stood up to give hera standing ovation. The crowd grew silent as they watched this young, handsome man walk onto the stage. She looked so hopeless, her blue eyes bright with confusion. She didn't say a word, her mouth simply opening and closing. She was at a lossfor words. Darien, knowing he wasn't wrong, said, "I hope I am, Serena." (AN: Last line in the song: Is he my own true love.) The crowd cheered as they saw their new, wonderful singer swept upinto the arms of this stranger, (Which they assumed must be Darien) and thecouple laughed, never letting their eyes stray from each other's faces. Aboutto kiss, they suddenly realized they had an audience. A pin dropped from Serena's hair as she ran offstage with Darien, and it's sound echoed throughout the park. That night, they brought newmeaning to the saying, "To hear a pin drop!" Backstage, hidden by a very big speaker, they kissed each otherdeeply, showing all their newfound love for each other. They broke apart whenthey heard Raye running around, screeching, "SERENA, I'D JUST LIKE TO KNOWWHEN THIS DEVELOPED!" Darien and Serena laughed softly. "Great, do you realize whatkind of torture I am going to receive from them? Thanks a lot, baka!" Serena whispered.Darien smiled. "So, meatball head, you know what? I don't care! And I also love you." Serena smiled back at him. "I love you too." Now that our couple is kissing each other again, there is only one, corny thing to say. Everyone says love at first sight is absolutelywonderful, but rarely mentioned is love at second sight. However, that is a moreperfect thing then first sight, because at second means they've looked twice,to see what's beyond. It means they didn't think that they were perfect thefirst time they saw each other. It means that they have something special. It means that they truly, deeply have loved each other, in a way that theycould never have learned if they had loved the other from day one. And all because they looked twice. ***Deep inside the two now interlocked minds*** 'Am I a genius or what? Tell me, wasn't it an absolute brilliantidea to show Darien those images? He thought they were a princess . . . pshaw! That just lured him to her! Brilliant! I'm a genius!' Serena's subconscious rolled her eyes (if she had a pair shewould). 'Sometimes I regret teaming up with you to get our outer, more stupidminds together. It's a little degrading to have to work with you.' Darien's puffed up subconscious deflated a little. 'Oh well, livewith it! You didn't come up with anything better, you know.' 'Well, I could have. But, I only have one question that you'dbetter answer properly!' 'Nothing I can't answer!' 'An ego the size of a Goodyear blimp! What a fatal attraction!' Serena's subconscious grumbled. Shaking her subconscious head, she finally asked, 'You've neverseen Serena in silhouette before. Darien hated Serena up until a littlewhile ago, so he never would have thought to imagine Serena in a shadow of a daydream. Where did you get that image from?' Silence. 'Actually . . . I dug it up from one of the most buried corners ofhis mind. It was locked deep, deep inside his heart. You know, thetechnicians who man the heart are so hard to get along with! They're solovey-dovey . . . however, I threatened them. They gave me that image after a bit offorced work. When I asked them where they got it, they said they didn'tremember . . . lovesick fools . . .' In unison: 'Well, it must not be very important . . .' ***It's done! I hope it's good!
