Hi everyone. Thanks for reading another of my stories. I thought I'd try my hand at rewitting the tale of Sailor Moon. I had this idea and wanted to try it out. If you like it let me know. Just a quick note: I used the manga for my inspiration a lot. Some of the things that happen in the story may seem a little off, but trust me, that's the way I want it. Enjoy! Rain You want to know why I'm so sad? *Sigh.* Well I'm in love. I know being in love is not a bad thing. It's just...Well this guy is different. I keep having this dream. These gorgeous blue eyes stare out from the darkness at me. I've got to find him. I know he's out there waiting for me. He needs my help. How is it possible that I love someome I've never met? Is it some how linked with this Sailor business that I some how got mixed up in? So you want to know what makes me such a jerk? Well I don't know. I sorta picked up a natural defense of insults to protect me from ever being hurt. You see I'm an orphan. My parents died when I was young and I couldn't remember anything about them after the accident we were in. Well yeah there is a girl in my life. Just not like the normal romance stories go. I keep having this dream. This girl tells me that I've got to find her and help her to remember. Am I going crazy? *** The Rewritting of a Legend by Rain Ayo ( rain_ayo@yahoo.com ) Usagi Tsukino walked down the street towards her friend, Rei Hino's temple. She shuffled her feet and walked slowly. She was going to be late and Rei probably wouldn't be too happy, but it's not like she did it all the time. 'I don't know how I got mixed up in all of this. I'm no warrior. I'm really not the type that would be able to stand up against powerful enemies. I'm terrified,' she thought. She sighed and thought about what Luna said. "You were all destined for greatness. In a time that was lost to us all, the Silver Millenium, was 1000 years of peace. All of you were protectors of the Moon Princess. Now it's time to gather everyone and find the Princess. You can do it I know you can," she said. 'So we need to find this Princess before the enemy does. Who is this enemy and where is it? Why hasn't it attacked us? Is there even an enemy? Why do I trust a talking cat?' she thought. Eventually Usagi arrived at the bottom of the stairs at the temple. Rei was at the top waiting for her. "Usagi! What took you so long?" Rei asked. "Sorry Rei. I stayed after to ask Miss Haruna something," she lied. "Don't worry about it Rei," Minako Aino said as she came up from behind Rei. Usagi ran up the stairs and took a seat beside Ami Mizuno. Then Minako started the meeting. "Artemis and Luna told me about something else we need to find. It's called the Imperium Silver Crystal. It holds the power to destroy the universe. It belongs to the Princess. We need to make sure our enemy doesn't get it before we do." "We think we have a lead. There's a ball tonight in the Austrian Embassy. They are displaying a family heirloom, a beautiful crystal they call the Silver Crystal. It may be the one we're looking for," Luna said. "Well then we're gonna go and check it out," Makoto Kino said. "That's the problem. How do we get in?" Artemis asked. "It's by invitation." "I think I can get someone in," Luna said. She did a little flip just like she did to give Usagi her transformation locket. On the ground appeared a small pen. "This is the Luna Pen. It's Sailor Moon's." "Wait a minute. I'm not going in there alone," Usagi said. "I'm not the person who should do this. Have Mako do it or Ami, but not me." "You have to. This is yours and you're going to go in there," Luna said. "Usagi. It'll be all right. We'll be outside just in case something happens," Minako said. "So don't worry about anything." "Well...If you say so," Usagi said. Later that day Usagi sat over her homework. She wasn't paying attention to it. She was too busy thinking about her friends. They were an unusual bunch. Minako was the first to become a Sailor. She is Sailor Venus. She's not much of a brain. More like a beauty queen. Artemis and her were the ones to gather their bunch, till Luna found Usagi. Rei was the second. She's Sailor Mars. She's a priestess. She was a little harsh on Usagi when they first met because Usagi wasn't as reliable as she was now. Ami was next. She's Sailor Mercury and the brains of the outfit. She's quiet and shy, but not as much as she used to be. She helped Usagi out a lot when she still had school troubles. Then there was Makoto. Also known as Sailor Jupiter. She was the brawns. She got kicked out of her school because she got into a fight, before she started going to the same school as Ami and Usagi, Crossroads Junior High. Last but not least was Usagi. She's Sailor Moon. Luna took her as her charge. She's the only one who doesn't seem to fit in the group. Or so she believes. She's afraid to fight, but when push comes to shove she knows that she'll be ready for whatever comes her way. 'Is this going to be the start of it all? With the crystal possibly out there will we start fighting soon?' she thought. 'I hope not. I don't know how I got mixed up in all of this. I want to be normal. I don't want to worry about fighting some unknown enemy. Or dreams or stupid talking cats. I just wanna do good in school, spend sometime in the arcade every once and a while, and be with my friends. 'This dream is starting to bother me. Those eyes are just staring me down constantly. I feel like their staring right down into my soul. Does he know everything about me? Can he tell I'm scared that I'll never find him? There are too many questions. With no chance for an answer.' "Is something bothering you Usagi?" Luna asked as she jumped into her bedroom window. "No. Just nervous I guess. This is the first time I'm actually doing something," Usagi said. It wasn't a total lie. 'Am I ever going to be able to tell anyone the truth?' "Well don't worry. It'll be easy. If it is what we're looking for we'll probably find the Princess nearby. If it's not, well then we start again," Luna said. "Well we better get going, or we'll be late and I don't need to hear another speech from Rei," Usagi said as she got up and grabbed Luna. She ran out of the house after saying a quick goodbye to her parents. Then her and Luna took the next bus over to the meeting spot outside the Embassy. Makoto and Ami were already there waiting. "Are you ready Usagi?" Makoto asked. "As I'll ever be I suppose. I still wish I was home sleeping," Usagi said. "Well don't worry it'll be easy. There hasn't been any sightings of unusual activity at all in the past few months," Ami said. "Well I still have a feeling that the fun is over all too soon," Usagi said. Minako and Rei were the last to show up. "All right. Are we all ready?" Artemis asked. At everyone's nodded Luna went over to Usagi. "All right Usagi all you have to say is Disguise Power and tell it what to transform you into," Luna said. "Okay here it goes," Usagi said. She lifted the Luna Pen up in the air and cried out, "Disguise Power! Turn me into a...a...a princess type person." A couple seconds later her outfit had transformed into a long white dress. Her hair was still in it's normal meatball type buns with small white flowers in it. "Wow. Usagi that is a gorgeous dress!" Makoto exclaimed. "Really?" she asked. "You really do look like a princess," Minako said. "Thanks guys," Usagi said. "Come on let's get going," Rei said. "Mars Power!" "Jupiter Power!" "Mercury Power!" "Good luck Usagi. Venus Power!" Usagi looked around the room and sighed. The crystal wouldn't be displayed for a while. She didn't know what to do until then. She headed for the tables of food and drinks. She took a glass of punch and surveyed the crowd. Why did it have to be a masquerade? She was lucky enough to get a mask before she got in. "Are you alone?" a young woman beside her asked. She was a little unusual because she was the only female not wearing a dress. She wore black pants, a navy blue silk shirt, and a formal black jacket. She also wore a simple black mask. "Yeah. I wish I hadn't. Look at all the couples. There probably isn't even one single guy in the whole place," Usagi said. "Don't worry. I'm sure you won't be stuck alone all night. Not a gorgeous girl like you. I'm surprise you haven't attracted a crowd yet," the woman said. 'Maybe that's because the person I'm looking for is no where to be found,' Usagi thought. "Well you have a good night. I've got a job to do," the woman said. She headed off to the band that was setting up by the large picture window. Usagi looked over the crowd once more. It looked like that woman was the singer of the band. All of the happy couples moved about gossiping and chatting about everything. "Why did I volunteer to go through with this?" she asked herself quietly. She placed her empty glass on the table and turned to find the ladies room. Instead she bumped into someone. "I'm sorry. I was just trying to go to the..." she stuttered. "That's all right," a slightly familar voice said. Usagi looked up to see a man clad in a black tuxedo wearing a plain white mask. He had dark hair and was taller than her. She blinked at him and asked, "Do I know you?" "I'm not sure," he said. The band started to play. It was a song she had never heard before. Tuxedo put out his hand. "May I have this dance?" he asked. Usagi took his hand and he wisked her out onto the dance floor. Have you heard Have you heard 'Bout this girl Who was ripped up by her roots Wanna know What she learned Like humility You win when you lose I have learned I have learned The most horrifying nights Have an end I was hurt I was lost In the dark I found the way to a friend Usagi tried with all her might to figure out who this man could possibly be. If only she could see his eyes. Then she could figure out if it was the man in her dreams. I am standing here in my ravine Once again I see a piece of the sky And my joy never will be denied 'Cause I was meant to be here The only place on earth Where you are near Where you are near Was a flower So frail And I let the trees grow wild around me Grew so high Hit the sky Shaded everything I needed to see 'Who are you? This all feels so right, but why?' she thought with a sigh. Then one night Someone came Took a knife And ripped me up by my roots Tossed astray Far away In my darkest night I started to pray I am standing here in my ravine Once again I see a piece of the sky And my joy never will be denied 'Cause I was meant to be here The only place on earth Where you are near Where you are near They danced as if this was something they'd done all their lives. Usagi leaned up against the mysterious stranger. "This feels so right," she whispered. Why do you Why do you ask Why I'm not blaming my God I tell you I tell you what He was the only one there "Who are you?" she asked. "I could ask you the same thing," he said. "I wish I knew. I'm so confused. Why does this feel so right?" she asked. He stroked her hair as she rested her head against his chest. "I wish I knew. Let's not worry about that now. Just enjoy what we have," he said. I am standing here in my ravine Once again I see a piece of the sky And my joy never will be denied 'Cause I was meant to be here The only place on earth Where you are near Where you are near As the last notes of the song drifted off into the air, he lead her out onto the balcony. It was a beautiful night and the moon was full over head. All the stars seemed to have come out to greet them. "It's such a beautiful evening," she said. "It is. I've always loved the full moon," he said. "I know. It always makes me feel safe. Like a fuzzy blanket wrapped around me," she said. She laughed. "That must sound silly." He came up from behind her wrapping his arms around her waist. "No. I feel the same way," he said. "Really?" she asked. "I mean I always thought that I was sorta crazy. No one ever seemed to understand when I said stuff like that." "It's all right. It's not at all that crazy to me. Sometimes I wonder if I'm going insane too," he said. "Well at least I'm not the only one," she said. "For a while I thought that I was crazy..." He squeezed her tighter and she leaned back against him. "Please don't leave me," she whispered. "I can't bare to be alone anymore." "I don't want to. I don't want to be alone either," he said. She turned around and rested her head on his chest. "Why do I feel like this is going to end before it gets anywhere?" she asked. "This is too perfect. Somethings going to ruin in it." As if to answer her the call came from inside. "Attention everyone. The Silver Crystal will be displayed in about one minute," someone said. Usagi looked up and into the ballroom. The crystal sat covered on a table by the band. Two security guards stood beside it and a thin man with glasses. "Welcome everyone to the Austrian Embassy. We are lucky enough to present to you our royal family's heirloom. To present this is our own princess, Princess Angelina," the man said. Everyone looked to the main entrance to see the princess. Only there was no princess, just a blonde man in a dull grey suit. "I'm sorry, but the princess is occupied at this moment," the man said as his eyes flashed red. Tuxedo had vanished, but she had no time to think about that. There was work to be done. "Now Sailors," she called up to her friends on the roof. "So much for no trouble. Moon Prism Power!" Everyone in the ballroom was unconscious. The blonde man was about to get the crystal when Sailor Moon yelled out, "Hold it right there! Don't even think about touching that crystal." "A girl. That's who they sent to stop me," the man said as he laughed. "You can't stop me, Jedite of the Negaverse." "Well I don't really care who you are. You are not going to touch that crystal," Sailor Moon said. "Who's going to stop me?" Jedite asked. "We are," Venus said as she kicked Jedite in the stomach. He doubled over and backed up a bit. "Who do you think you are?" Jedite asked. "We are the Sailor Senshi, defenders of the innocent and enemy of evil," Venus said. Jupiter and Mars came up from behind him and held him back. "Now why do you want the Crystal?" "It's for our growing leader. She will get it too," Jedite said. "You mean Metallia no doubt," Venus said. "She'll have no such luck." Jedite flung Mars and Jupiter off of him. They went flying into the wall behind them. Then he attempted to blast Venus, but she leaped over it. Meanwhile, Sailor Moon had gone over to the crystal and was looking at it. "This isn't the Imperium Silver Crystal," she said. "How do you know that?" Mercury asked as she came up beside her. "I don't know. Just this feeling I have," she said. "Why don't we just give it to him and leave?" "We can't," Mercury said as she began frantically typing on her computer's keyboard. "What do you mean we can't?" Moon asked. "Because he's really human. Someone flooded him with negative energy. If we find a way to combat the darkness we can change him back," Mercury said. "How do we do that?" Moon asked. "With your tiara," Luna said as she went over to them. "Use it to reflect the light of the moon. That should free him." "Okay Luna. Whatever you say," Moon said. She turned back to see Jedite and the others fighting. He was still dodging all their attacks as they dodged his. "We need a distraction Mercury," Moon said. "Coming right up. Shabon Spray!" she called out as the room was covered with a blinding mist. "The party's over Jedite. We're changing you back," Moon said as the mists parted revealing the Senshi surrounding him. Moon touched her tiara as a beam of light hit the stone on her tiara. "Moon Twilight Flash!" The light bounched off the tiara and engulfed Jedite. When the light was gone Jedite layed unconscious on the ground. "Good job Sailor Moon," Artemis said. "Now what do we do with him?" Moon asked. "We can't just leave him here." "You're right," Venus said. "Where do we take him?" "What if we take him to the hospital," Mercury said as she completed her scan of him. "My computer shows that he's had a complete memory wipe." "Then let's hurry up before these people wake up and ask questions," Mars said. "Sailor Moon you stay here and make sure everyone is okay," Luna said. She nodded and detransformed back into the white dress. Everyone else helped lift Jedite and carry him out of there. When they were gone, she turned to see Tuxedo looked at the crystal. "What are you doing?" she asked. "This isn't it," he said. He looked up at her and then put the crystal back down. "I guess you were right. It did end before it got anywhere." He went over to her and brushed his hand against her cheek. "I wish I could stay with you, but I can't," he said. "I need to find something." "What? Maybe I could help," she said. "Something called the Imperium Silver Crystal," he said. "The Crystal? Why?" she asked. "Because it's the only way I'll be able to remember everything," he said. "How can I help you?" she asked. "I have to do this myself," he said. "Will I ever see you again?" she asked. "I don't know," he said. "You can't leave me here. I'm scared," she said as she clung to him. "Anytime you need me, I'll be there. I sware to you," he said. He lifted her chin so she looked up at him. He kissed her gently and wiped away a stray tear. "Will you at least let me see your face before you go?" she asked. 'Prove to me you are the one in my dreams, even though I know it in my heart.' He walked off towards the exit. There wasn't much light and his face was covered by shadows. He looked back and although she couldn't see much of his face one thing was as clear as it had always been, his eyes. ******************************************************** Dun dun dun.
