Thanks to the ever kind Jade, this is my edited version of the next episode of Legend. I believe that there was a mix up when I sent this story to Moon Romance. This is going to be a lot longer than one part. I hope you like what I have here. More thanks and the like will be at the end. Also I realize that I said that this is going to be inspired a lot by the manga, but by no means a copy of it. It was brought to my attention that some of the things didn't seem right. That's basically because I like it this way better. Enjoy! Rain The Rewriting of a Legend Episode 2 by Rain Ayo ( rain_ayo@hotmail.com ) Usagi walked back to her home after a long day at school. She hadn't been paying too much attention as she had been doing for the past few weeks. She sighed as she realized that she wasn't doing as good as she had been for a while. 'It's all because of him. I can't get his eyes out of my head,' she thought. 'But who is he? I've never really met him before. Or have I?' She wasn't paying much attention and nearly stepped on Luna. "Watch where you're going Usagi," Luna growled. She looked at her cat dazed. "Oh, I'm sorry Luna. You're right I should be paying more attention," she said and then returned to her brooding. "What is wrong with you Usagi? Ever since that fight at the Embassy you've been so silent. You're grades are slipping again. You don't seem to care about anything anymore," Luna said as she watched her charge walk off. "Maybe I don't," she said sadly and then continued on her way. She went into her house said a quick hello to her parents and then rushed up to her room. She pulled out some more of her sketching paper. She plopped down on her bed and drew some more. She had quite the collection growing. All of them were of the masked stranger she met at the Embassy. Of course Luna kept asking who he was, but she simply replied, "I wish I knew." Luna jumped into the window and went over to Usagi. "Please Usagi, what is wrong? I've been so patient with you hoping this might pass or you'd finally tell me what's going on, but it's not. We are all worried about you. Would you please tell me?" she asked. Usagi sat up and looked at Luna. "I'm sorry I'm making all of you worried like this. You shouldn't worry about me though. There are too many other things too worry about. Like when the next attack from the Negaverse will be, or where the Princess is. Are there any new leads?" she asked. Luna shook her head. "No. Absolutely nothing. Artemis and Minako have been working around the clock looking for any possible link to our Princess or the crystal and are coming up empty handed," she said. "Well maybe I can help. They said two heads are better than one, well maybe three is better than two," Usagi said as she jumped up and headed out of the house to the arcade where she knew she'd find Minako and Artemis. Mamoru unlocked his apartment and went in. He rubbed his head and sat down on the sofa with a thud. His boss had sent him home thinking he was sick. Perhaps he was. 'Sick in the head,' he thought. There was way to much being jumbled up in his mind. The Princess from his dreams was the main thing on his mind lately. He had given her up in order to protect himself. He knew that the warrior women that were with her might not approve of their Princess being kissed by a stranger. How he left was still beyond him. 'You wanted to know the truth about yourself first that's why. When you know then you know you can face her. Until then you may just only end up harming her,' he told himself. She was just so beautiful. When he was with her he felt safer than he had ever felt in his entire life. He wanted nothing more than to stay with her. He felt complete and the loneliness that had haunted him all of these years since his parents death seemed to vanish whenever she was near him. Even when he dreamed of her he felt her comforting presence there holding him. Her blue eyes shinning ever so lightly. He felt like she had handed him warmth on a platter. He felt like he could take it with him where ever he went like a warm fuzzy blanket. He passed a hand through his hair. 'You've got to stop thinking about her. It was probably just some crazed dream. You don't even know who she is. She could turn out to be a psycho or something. You're already having trouble figuring out what's a dream and what's reality. It was probably just a dream,' he told himself. Too bad he didn't really feel that way. He sighed and gave up decided that maybe if he talked to someone "real" for a little while then maybe some of that would rub off on him. He headed for the arcade so he could find Motoki. Usagi sat down on one of the game's stools reading a newspaper. She was looking, just as Minako and Artemis were, for some clue to the where abouts of the crystal and the Princess. She hadn't found anything yet. Of course she'd only gone through a few pages of the newspaper. "How's the news today?" Motoki asked as he handed her a soda. "Well I guess it's good. Haven't found anything sad yet," Usagi said. "Well that's always a good sign. Hope it stays that way," Motoki said as he went off to do some other work. 'Of course it's not. Once we find a lead there will probably be another battle,' she thought with a sigh. She turned the page and looked at the advertisement for a contest to see who would be the next beauty queen. She almost turned the page, but then she noticed something. The special guest host was someone called the Tsuki Princess. "Minako! Get over here you've got to see this," Usagi said. Minako rushed over and looked over her shoulder at the advertisement. "This might be it." "You're right," Minako said as she finished reading the advertisement. "We should go find the rest of the Senshi and tell them about this." The two of them grabbed Artemis and ran out of their to head to the temple. They didn't even notice the dark haired man enter as they exited. "Hi Mamoru. What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be working?" Motoki asked as he greeted his friend at the door. When he finally got a good look at him he shook his head. "You look like hell. No wonder your not working. What's wrong?" "I think I'm going crazy," Mamoru said as he plopped himself down on a stool. "Well there's got to be more than that," Motoki said. "Look I'm going on break. You can tell me all about it." "Whatever," Mamoru said. "So you think we should check this out?" Makoto asked. "Yup. If it isn't our Princess, well, we'll probably have to stop the Negaverse from taking her anyway," Minako said. "It starts in about an hour and half, so we should get going." Everyone nodded and they headed off. They arrived outside with an hour to spare. "We should split up and check this place out," Artemis said. "Just in case the Negaverse is already here." Luna looked up at Usagi. "We need someone to get into the contest," she said. Usagi sighed. "Of course that would be me wouldn't it," she said. "All right. Disguise Power! Make me look like a convincing contestant." There was a flash and then she stood there in a very pretty pastel blue dress. It was sleeveless and went down to the floor. "I want one of them," Minako said with a smirk. "Come on. We better head off," Rei said. "Again I'm all alone. Is this some sort of conspiracy against me?" she asked the empty air as everyone headed into the building. She sighed straightened her dress out a bit and then entered the building. Immediately she was ushered off to the dressing rooms. It was very noisy and a complete mess. Someone showed her to a dressing room. She just went in without complaint. She didn't realize that they had mistaken her for someone else. A young woman entered the dressing room. "Your clothes are in the trunk right there. They arrived a couple hours ago. The show starts in 20 minutes so you better hurry up," the woman said before heading out of the room in a flash. "Wait a minute. What in the world was she talking about?" Usagi asked herself. "I'm not going to have an enjoyable time. I know it." She sighed and looked through the trunk. It was amazing some of the stuff in there. All of them covered with thin gold embroidery in the shape of roses and little crescent moons. "Wait a minute. Do they actually think that I'm the Tsuki Princess? This is insane. It would be one thing if I were just playing the contestant, but I can't do this. What if the others actually take this seriously. I'm no Princess!" she exclaimed as she realized what was going on. "Oh what choice do I have? I can't back out now. If only I could I'd be home and sleeping." She pulled out the simplest one in the trunk, a long sleeveless white dress that was hemmed with the gold embroidery of gold roses and had a small crescent moon on the right side of her chest. She looked at the meatballs in her hair and decided that if she put it up differently that the Senshi might not recognize her. A long shot, but she didn't want them to think that she might be the Princess they were looking for. She had one of the hair dressers put it up for her. It was pulled back out of her face with the top layer of hair pulled back in a thin braid. The rest hung down. "My you look prettier then all of the pictures of you I've seen," the hair dresser said. She wondered where in the world she would have seen them. Usagi had never even heard of this Tsuki Princess. "I think I'm going to have a headache," she mumbled as she went back to her dressing room. The young woman that came in earlier came back and laid some cards on a table. "All you have to do is take these cards and read them on you're cue. These are also on the bigger cards that will be held up for everyone at the edge of the stage. So don't worry about it. I'm sure it would have been easier if you had just shown up to rehearsal, but we'll make do," the woman said. Her tone showed that she didn't really like the Princess. Too bad Usagi was left to listen to her complaints. "All right what are you waiting for. We're starting," the woman said impatiently as she ushered Usagi out the door and onto the stage. Usagi looked at the cards the woman had placed in her hand just as she ran off the stage. 'What am I going to do? I guess I just have to play along until the Negaverse shows up. Seeing as there isn't any Moon Princess, there will probably be another fight. The curtain went up and the lights went on. The show must go on... 'What in the world am I doing here?' he asked himself as he snuck into the building housing the beauty contest. 'Just because you know you'll see her tonight.' He shook his head and sneaked into the main room to see what was going on. He smoothed the tuxedo he wore. He didn't even know why he decided to wear it. She probably would have recognized him no matter what he wore. When he got through the crowd he could see her on the stage. She was as beautiful as he remembered, perhaps even more. The dress looked amazing on her. His breath caught and he worked his way to a seat closer to the stage. "I'd like to welcome all of you to our beauty contest. All of these lovely women are waiting to get out here and show you their stuff," she said. She sounded terribly nervous, but he seemed to be the only one to notice. "So let's get this show on the road." She stepped back to reveal another curtain rising most likely with the contestants behind it. Only they weren't standing their. They were all laying on the ground surrounding a man clad in a gray suit with long brown hair. The man laughed insanely and everyone around Mamoru was panicking. The man extended a hand out toward the crowd and people started collapsing all around him. Even his beautiful princess. He jumped onto the stage an caught her just as she fell. "Come on. You can't be taking any naps here," he told her as he shook her a bit to hopefully get her conscious again. Her eyes fluttered open and she looked at him in surprise. "You're here," she said. He nodded with a small smile. That man, whoever he was, was doing a good job of putting them all to sleep. Mamoru was having trouble keeping awake. "Where are the girls that were with you last time. We've got to get you some place safe," he said with strength he didn't know he had. "Coming. We've just got to kill that man before he kills everyone else. We've got to stop the Negaverse," she said just before she passed out all together. He shook her again. "Wake up. Wake up," he said. 'No you can't die. I just found you. I'm not about to lose you now.' He laid her gently on the ground and stood up. He glared at the man even though his vision wasn't to be trusted anymore. He charged at him and caught him off guard. The man fell with Mamoru on top of him. Just as the man fell the exhaustion he was feeling lightened up a bit and he felt he could trust his own two feet again. Mamoru grabbed the man by the collar. "Who do you think you are? You won't get away with what you've done," he growled. The man just laughed. "Stupid human. No one can stop me. No one can stop Nephrite of the Neagverse," he said. "Just watch me," Mamoru said as he punched Nephrite in the jaw. Nephrite put a hand to his jaw in obvious pain. "You'll pay for that human," Nephrite said as he flung Mamoru off of him. Mamoru got up immediately and charged once again at Nephrite. Nephrite dodged his attempt and kicked Mamoru's back. Mamoru went down but got up immediately. "I don't know why you won't give up, but you will soon," Nephrite said. "That's not going to happen," someone said. Four young women landed around the two dueling men. "You are going down," the woman in red said. "We are the Sailor Senshi and you, Negaverse creep, have met your match," the one in orange and obviously the leader of the group. "So you are the ones that stopped Jadeite. Well you won't have as much luck with me," Nephrite said. He stretched out his arms and shot out two bolts of energy. One was aimed at Mamoru and the other at the woman in orange. Mamoru just barely escaped the blast while the woman simply leaped over it. One of the Senshi went over to him. "I don't know who you are, but you better get out of here," the woman in blue said. "It's not safe here." "I don't care. I've got to help her," Mamoru said. He pushed passed her and charged at Nephrite's back. The woman in blue shook her head and called out, "Shabon Spray!" A mist covered the area and Mamoru took that opportunity to strike. He felt a strange power collect in his fist as his anger boiled inside of him. 'You hurt her. If she dies I swear you will die a most painful death,' he thought. He connected with Nephrite's unguarded back and sent out a blast of his own. A yellow light literally went through Nephrite, leaving a small almost unnoticeable hole in his shoulder. "I'd be careful who you attack if I were you," Mamoru said with so much anger in his voice. The mists cleared and Mamoru had gotten out of the way, knowing that the warrior women who protected his princess would be able to completely destroy him now. The surprise was that they weren't alone anymore. His princess had taken up her warrior garb and was the one going in for the kill. "I'll free you from your prison," she said softly. She touched her tiara and a light hit it from out of no where. "Moon Twilight Flash!" The light that hit her tiara reflected off it and hit Nephrite. Mamoru saw that his princess was all right and that was all that mattered. He got out of there before the Senshi started to ask questions he didn't even know how to answer. The Senshi took off with Nephrite. Usagi was left again to take care of everyone left behind. She hoped that she would see him again, but it seemed that she wasn't that lucky. Thankfully she was able to sneak out of there before they decided she had to finish the completely crazy show. All her friends were waiting for her outside the show. "How did you get up on stage?" Rei asked. "What happened to the Princess?" "I don't know. They thought that I was the Princess. She probably didn't even show up. The woman running it seemed to think that the woman who really was the Princess wasn't really interested in doing the show anyway," Usagi said. "Maybe, but that was a big waste of time," Rei said. "No it wasn't," Minako said. "We got one more of those guys. One less problem for us. Perhaps even one more ally." "That is if they ever remember," Makoto said. "They don't remember anything at all remember." "Well that doesn't matter. What does matter is that it was worth it. Does anyone know who that guy was that fought tonight?" Minako asked. Usagi stayed quiet. She wasn't sure what Minako had planned. "Is it possible that we have more allies than you thought?" Minako asked Luna and Artemis. "Quite possible. We still don't remember though," Luna said. "Well is there anything that might jog your memories?" Rei asked. "Anything I could do?" "Who knows. We'll have to try anything we can think of," Artemis said. ******************************************************** So what did you think? I hope you enjoyed it.
