Sorry about the long wait everyone. Things have been a mess. I'm sure people can relate. Schools here and my lack of online access has brought on this extremely long wait. I apologize for the trouble and I hope things will start to get better soon. Christmas vacation is drawing near and I bet I can get some more done. I hope you haven't forgotten about me and this story. I'm working my butt off on it when I have time. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. The Rewriting of a Legend By Rain Ayo ( rain_ayo@yahoo.com ) Episode 4 Usagi arose to a few slight noises coming from the other room. She looked around the room trying to figure out where she could possibly be. Then she remembered what had happened the previous night. He had found her in the park. He must have taken her to his apartment. She didn't remember much of what happened after he arrived, however. She snuck quietly over to the door and opened it enough to see what was outside the room. She could see the living room. There was a couch with its back to her and in front of it a television. Draped over the back of the couch was a thick blanket. 'I must have taken his bed last night,' she thought. She closed the door silently and went back onto the bed. She looked out the window at a small bird that flew by. 'What am I doing here?' she asked herself. 'I ran off to be alone. I ran off to get away from my friends.' 'My friends. They must think I'm a coward. Is it so wrong for me to not want to fight? I just want to be normal,' she told herself. *Normal without dreams of him?* her heart asked. 'Him. I don't even know his name. Without a name he's still a dream. He isn't quite real. Oh but I wish he was real. He warms my heart as no one else can, could, or will ever be able to. I know this. I just wish it weren't as complicated as it is,' she thought. She closed her eyes to shut away the few stray tears.. She could hear him heading towards the bedroom. In a moment of panic, she escaped onto the balcony and jumped off. Sailor Moon could be seen sneaking off into an ally. 'I can't see him now. It's not fair. I'll only hurt him in end. I don't want him to continue to put himself in danger's way. I have no right to continue this charade,' she told herself. 'I'm sorry.' He opened the door to an empty room. He looked around frantically. She was no where to be found. 'Was she ever even here?' he asked himself. 'She had to be. The window is open.' He rushed over to it and saw a faint hint of the uniform of one of the warrior women. It had to be his princess. "Wait! Don't go!" he yelled, but it was too late. 'Why do you keep running? I want to help you.' He felt a sudden rush of urgency. She wasn't running into another fight was she? 'No, she's not,' he thought. 'It's much worse than that.' He took off out of his apartment and in the direction he'd seen her take off in. It was a beautiful sight. She knelt down and looked over the highest point in Tokyo. It was a long way down the cliff she stood next to. The ocean went in and out in a calming pattern. The waves slowly wearing away the stone wall that blocked its path. Just like the Sailor fuku she wore did, to her dreams. From her dimensional pocket, she pulled out a long, thin dagger. She'd placed it there before she left her home knowing that she would need it eventually. It gleamed in the sunlight, like an omen of hope. It was the only way out she could think of. She felt a rush of joy at the thought of being released from this prison. She closed her eyes, as if to fend off the imminent pain. "To end my pain. To save him from danger. To let someone stronger take my place. I will end my life," she said aloud. For some reason she opened her eyes. She nearly dropped the dagger as she looked out into the sea. She could see him running towards her. He wore the strange armor she'd seen him in her recent dreams. He seemed to be screaming something. He seemed to kneel in front of her but he was as transparent as a ghost. He put his hands on hers and they felt real. She dropped the dagger and began to cry. She sat there with her hands in her lap crying. After a moment or two the wraith vanished. "No! Please don't go!" she cried. "Serenity!" She turned to see the real him running to her. His armor no where to be found. Her sobbing stopped as he quickly knelt beside her and held her in his arms. It felt so good just to sit there and be held by him. As if the pain was non-existent because of him. Why was her heart so ready to love him? She barely knew him. "Why?" his question echoed ominously around her. "For many reasons," she said softly. "To end my suffering. I never wanted any of this. I just wanted to be normal. I wanted someone else to take my place. Someone more capable of doing this. I'm not a fighter. I'm a dreamer. "Also to stop you from putting yourself into danger. I'm the only reason you do it. I don't want to see you hurt," she said. He was silent after she said all that. She turned away from him and looked out into the sea. It's waves had grown high and powerful, crashing upon the rocky cliff. "I'm sorry things had to be like this for you," he said gently. "But I don't believe that you are weak. You are very strong, perhaps even stronger than I could ever be," he said. "I protect you, because I care about you. I don't want to see you hurt or dead either." "I...I'm so confused. I don't want any of this," she said softly. "But it's far too late to turn back now." She turned and faced him. "Would you help me? Keep me from falling?" He brought her into his arms once more, this time she wrapped her arms around him as well. "Of course I will. I would do anything for you. Never forget that," he said. Things looked bleek for the Senshi as Zoisite laughed while floating above the badly wounded Senshi. Mercury was unconscious and off to the side. Mars held her bleeding left arm with her right hand. Jupiter glared angrily, ignoring the stream of blood that fell down her cheek. Venus played the leader and stood tall and assessed the situation. 'We don't have a hope or a prayer without Usagi,' she thought. Suddenly out of no where shot a thin laser from behind Zoisite. He was caught off guard and it left a small hole in his stomach. He clutched at his stomach in pain as a small pool of greenish blood formed below him. He turned to see who had done that to him. A young woman faced him. She glared at him and touched her tiara. A beam of light struck it from out of no where. "Zoisite I cannot allow you to continue to harm them," she said softly, but full of anger. "You have a choice. To live or to die. Either way your growing leader will not like it." He glared at her. "I know you didn't fire that shot. Who did?" he asked. A young man appeared behind her, placing a protective hand on her shoulder. Zoisite recognized him from when he'd watched Nephrite's battle. "You are the fool who took on Nephrite. You won't be as lucky with me," he said. He charged at the pair. Sailor Moon raised her head a bit. "So be it. Moon Twilight Flash!" she yelled. She shot a beam of light from her tiara at Zoisite and he screamed out in shock and pain. He dropped to the ground and lay unconscious just as the others had. "Sailor Moon?" Jupiter asked nervously. She nodded and slowly walked to her friends. Her companion following just behind her. The remaining Senshi quickly rushed to her and took turns embracing her. "We were so worried. What happened to you?" Sailor Mars asked. She looked around and said, "Not now. Ami!" she cried as she ran to her other friend with tears in her eyes. She quickly check her pulse and other life signs. They weren't very strong. "Wake up Ami. Wake up!" Venus quickly knelt down across from Moon and did her own assessments. "She needs to rest. It's pretty bad, but she'll be okay," she told the others. She attempted to lift her up, along with Moon. The young man stepped in and took her for them. "Lead the way," he said. Venus looked up at him suspiciously, reluctantly she nodded. She got up and lead them towards Rei's house taking the slower route for the stranger. Ami was left in the extra bedroom at the temple. She'd detransformed half way there, simply because she didn't have the strength to continue on in that form. The rest of the group stood outside waiting for Usagi to explain herself. Luna and Artemis were there with them. "I'm sorry I worried you all like that," she said. "It was something I needed to do. You see, I didn't want to be Sailor Moon. All of you found it very easy to accept, but I'm not a fighter. I realize now that it's no turning back from here." "Why didn't you tell us that?" Luna asked. "You all are consumed by our cause that you didn't seem to notice that I have feelings and that I had no desire to continue on as Sailor Moon," she said. They were silent as it occured to them what they had done. Moon detransformed. The young man with her came up from behind her. "I've been watching her for you," he said. "My name is Chiba Mamoru." "What business do you have with her?" Venus interrogated. "I just want to find what you want to find. To set the princess, my princess, free," he said as he placed a hand on Usagi's shoulder. She looked up at him and the sign wasn't missed by any of them. "What do you mean, princess?" Jupiter asked. "I saw her in a dream. She asked from the Imperium Silver Crystal. It was the only thing that would set her free," he said. "USAGI?!" Mars exclaimed. "Usagi's the Moon Princess?" Venus asked. ******************************************************** I realize this is shorter than usual, but it did get some very important events out. I hope your enjoying this. Enjoy!
