The Rewriting of a Legend by Rain Ayo Episode 7 "Inside of you?" Luna asked. "That's...I don't know..." "There isn't any other way to explain it. If I didn't have powers then, what makes you believe that I have powers now?" Usagi asked. "How did it get there?" Luna asked. "There are so many questions that need to be answered." "Well for now we don't have the time to get them answered. We need to prepare for battle. Just knowing that I have power is enough. I'll still be able to fight when the time comes," Usagi said. "I suppose your right," Luna said. Usagi sat back against the sofa. She felt exhausted. She knew she'd probably would have cracked if it hadn't been for Mamoru's support. The link they had was coming in handy, even if they didn't know how they were able to use it. Mamoru felt just about as drained as Usagi did. With Usagi under so much pressure he didn't want to leave her to fend for herself. He knew that he needed to get her out of her house away from all the things that were happening to her. "Are you done?" he asked softly. She nodded. "I'll be right back," she said, knowing what his plan was. Luna looked at Mamoru. "You're taking her with you?" she asked. When he nodded she continued, "I've never seen her like this. She seems so lost. I'm sure you could take better care of her than I." "You've done a wonderful job, Luna. You do a lot for them all. Don't think that you are worthless. I don't think any of them would find that true, even Artemis," he said. At the mention of Artemis, she excused herself to go check on him in Usagi's room. Usagi returned shortly after that. He quickly got up and took her into his arms. "It's okay. I'm here," he said softly. She burst into tears and he held her a little tighter. "I'm sorry. I just don't want to believe any of this. I'm not the leading type," she said in between sobs. "Shh," he said softly. "You're doing fine. I'm so proud of you." "Thank you Mamoru," she said as her sobbing slowly stopped. "Come on. I'm going to take you out. Anything you want we'll do," he told her. "Really," she said. She looked up at him with a small smile. "How about we go get take out and some movies?" 'Sounds good to me," he said. She got her bag with a change of clothes in it. He led her out to his bike and a half an hour later they arrived at his apartment with a pizza and two movies. She got the movies ready while he got them some drinks. When he returned he found her sitting on his sofa reading on of the many books that was on his bookshelf. He sat down beside her and lifter the book up from her lap to see which one it was. "A poetry book, one of my favorites at that," he said. She looked up at him. "I would never have thought you'd be one for poetry," she said. "I'm just full of surprises," he said. He gave her a kiss. She put the book aside and curled up against him. They sat together eating pizza and watching the movies they rented. They didn't talk much, just enjoyed being with one another. The next morning they awoke together, still on the couch. He gave her a kiss on the forehead and a quick squeeze. "Do you mind if I take a shower?" she asked. "Go right ahead," he told her. She took a quick shower and by the time she changed, she could smellsomething cooking in the kitchen. Mamoru was making omelettes. He'd already changed his clothes and was putting out plates for them. They ate in silence for a while. Usagi looked up at him and cocked her head to the side. "You know, we barely know one another," she said. "What would you like to know?" he asked. 'I don't know...ummm...what about your parents?" she asked. Instantly she felt she'd hit a nerve. "Umm...you don't have to answer that if you don't want to." "It's okay," he said. "My parents died when I was five. We were in a car accident. I got amensia and I still don't remember anything." "I'm so sorry," she said as she moved closer to him. He smiled, glad for her concern. "It's all right," he told her. "It wasn't always easy. I was always alone. None of that matters now. I have you now and I'll never be lonely." She enveloped him in a hug. "I promise, I'll take care of you. You'll never have to be alone again. I sware," she said. They sat there for a moment, Usagi clinging tightly to him so that he wouldn't miss her point. He ran a hand threw her hair. "What about you?" he asked her, breaking their silence. "My mom and dad are normal parents, I suppose. Protective, a little clueless, and annoying," she said. "I didn't have any real traumatic events happen to me as a child. Unless you consider suddenly becoming a super heroine traumatic. "I just had to grow up really fast. I didn't have a chance to live the happy teen years I was looking forward to," she said. "I understand. I didn't have much of a childhood myself. I lived in an orphanage till I could get myself a job. Not exactly how I'd plan the perfect childhood," he said. "Well who cares about childhoods anyway? We're adults. We've certainly had no need for them," she said. "You are quite right," he told her. "And unfortunatly adults have responsiblity. We should go and check on the newcomers." Usagi sighed. "You're right. At least I feel that I can handle myself today," she said. Mamoru gave her a gentle kiss on the forehead. "Come on," he said as he stood up. They made quick work of the dishes and then drove to the temple, where they'd agreed to meet the next day. This time taking Mamoru's car, they stopped at Usagi's house in order to get Luna and Artemis, as well as a few more days worth of clothing, becuase they both could see Usagi would need it. At the temple everyone had already gathered. Minako and Kunzite seemed to be attached to one another. Usagi could help but notice the happiness in their eyes. Makoto seemed to be floating. Usagi caught on more than one occasion, Makoto staring wistfully at Nephrite, who was doing exactly the same thing. Rei wasn't showing much emotion towards anyone, except a few confused glances directed at Jedite. Jedite was ecstatic. He kept say, "I don't need to remember, I can feel it in here," as he pounded on his chest. None of them seemed to feel that there was something wrong with any of this, except Zoisite. He was very skeptical of all of this. From what Usagi gathered from their first encounter, after their battle, that he was a very religious person. She believed that it wouldn't take long to bring him around. Ami remained impassive, relaying her own scientific information. "There you guys are. We were just answering afew questions for our newcomers," Minako said cheerfull, which was a great improvement for her. "Maybe Luna could help with this one. They want to know how they use their powers," Rei said. "They don't have powers like ours so I don't know how to answer that one." "Why don't I just make this a lesson for all of you. I don't know much about Terrain magic. I did my best to read up on it in the little time left before Beryl's attack. If I'd known I'd need to teach it, I would have been more thorough," she said. "All you gentlemen follow me. We'll take this lesson away from anything that could be seriously damaged. Artemis why don't you lead the girls through a few exercises. They need some practice as well." Artemis nodded and led the girls off in one direction as Luna lead the gentlemen off in another. The men were lead deep into the trees behind the temple. Far enough away from the temple not to damage, but close enought to get help if needed. Luan transformed into her human form with ease, drawing shocked stares. "How did you do that?" Jedite asked. "My ansectors came from the planet Muu, just outside this system. We fled from our home when it was overrun by demons. The Moon Kingdom took us in. To repay them we've served them in anyway we could," Luna explained. "We are capable of shifting our form from feline to human when necessary. I prefer to remain in my feline form, in this case I believe it would be easier to show you your lessons in this form. "Now Mamoru. You seem to be able to use your powers. If you could explain how you accomplish that, we can go from there," Luna said. 'She sounds like one of the nuns who taught us at the orphanage,' he thought to himself. "It's mainly instinct." "You can't keep that up. It's not a good idea to do that, because you have to little to no control of your powers and they could go beserk on you. That would do nothing good to protect the Princess," Luna berated him. 'Thanks for the support,' he thought sourly. "I basically invision my target in my head, cock the gun, and fire," he said. "'Cocking the gun' won't always work, once you stop using you powers instinctually," Luna said. "In the beginning you may need to say a mantra in order to make things work properly. For example..." Luna went into a big explanation. 'This is going to be a long day,' Mamoru thought. Everyone gather back at the temple for a midday meal. Luna returned to her normal shape and appeared pleased with their success. They were able to cast very simple spells with ease. Nothing that would cause a great deal of damage, but it was something. The girls and Artemis had stopped a little bit earlier than the men, so they made some lunch. Makoto dazzled them all with a delicious soup. The rest made a large batch of sandwhiches. Minako was told to worry about finding plates and glasses after she almost burnt the pot she was using to boil water for tea. The men arrived as the girls were discussing Minako's cooking skills. "Oh did I find that out the hardway," Kunzite teased. Minako looked at him with a pout on her face. He gave her a quick squeeze of the shoulders and a peck on the cheek. "So how had the exercising been going?" "I beat Rei, three out of four times in no powers matches," Usagi said with a smirk. "I let you win," Rei said. "Sure. Just like you let Minako and Makoto win every match. I let you win the last one so you wouldn't think your a complete failure," Usagi said. "Oh I'm gonna get you for that one," Rei said as she jumped up to chase Usagi around the temple for a while. They laughed good-naturedly at the pair. "Are they always like that?" Jedite asked. "Well...after our fight," Makoto said. It was obvious that explanations would come at another time. "And how have you been fairing?" Minako asked. "luna's not pushing you too hard is she?" She's a drill sergent all right, but that's just what we need now," Mamoru said. "In a short while you'll be able to work with the girls," Luna said. "Let's hope we get that time," Makoto said. "I'll drink to that Jedite said as he raised his glass. The others followed in suit before drinking from them. Usagi and Rei returned then. Usagi had a smug smirk on her face as Rei glared at her. "Hurry up and eat. We need to use up as much time as we can to be prepared," Luna said, always the one to remind someone of their duties. They continued ther meal, keeping converstation light and away from what their training was for, by mutual consent. When they finished clearing away the meal, they returned to where they had worked before. "This time you can use your powers," Artemis said as they split up. "Just make sure you go easy on us, pyro," Usagi said teasingly to Rei. "I'll show you pyro," Rei said angrily, before chasing Usagi once again. ******************************************************** Never thought I'd have this finished. Hehe...a little closer to normal. Although everybody's still oh so serious. Hope you're enjoying this. You seem to be enjoying what I have done so far. I just hope it lives to expectations. I've got a planed 'special' episode where I'll talk about the others and their relationships. Adios! Rain-chan ( stardreamer@white-star.com )
