Title: Magic Tricks By: Mako-chan Email: Breeze13@hotmail.com Part: 4 Rated: PG--- AN: Back, finally! Don't be TOO mad, Minna-chan, I've been writing stuff, and working on a bunch of stuff at our site. We just opened a fanfiction contest, so vote for your favorite story of all time at http://www.fortunecity.com/rivendell/health/520/mamocon.htm We hope to have as many votes as possible. But enough site/story mixing. In other news, my be-lated story All I want For Christmas is also on that page, though still unfinished. (trust me, eventually all the stories I released out into the public, besides a few on my site will be finished for sure) But once I'm all caught up, I plan on taking a well-deserved break and not writing any more multi-parters and posting them, unless they are COMPLETELY finished. This will save me the deadline stress. I never was too good with them, and that's why my freshman journalism teacher thinksI'm Satan. (um, okay, there's other reasons, but that's just the most obvious...) enough author's notes. *sweatdrops* I know, you want me to just get on with my story, but I have to thank everyone out there, and say that as usual all disclaimers apply. Special thanks to my email bud, Sailor Starlite for kicking my butt, and to the wonderful, talented moon klutz who beats sense into this senseless skull. No wonder I put the story title at the top, ne? *grins evilly* well, I'm off to the next part!----- We headed to a small, not-to-well-known-yet-wanted-to-be-extremely- popular Italian restaurant. Serena, the beautiful Meatball Head, order ironically enough, a plate of spegehtii and meatballs. I was tempted after the kiss we shared to pull a "Lady and the Tramp" move, but still too cautious. Besides, until today I didn't even think that scene SEEMED romantic! Eating was a pain with forks, and since my right hand and her lefthand were the joined two, I ended up with her hand in my lasagna a few times. I'm right handed. Luckily, she wasn't left handed, and we avoided another hastle. Serena was silent through out most of dinner. Incredibly, it wasn'tTOO uncomfortable... except for the hand in the food thing. Though we hadsomehow, silently, reached an agreement, and managed to not kill each other thus far. This didn't mean that I had forgiven my best friend, who was a regular 'jug-head'. I was starting to connect with Archie's girl problems, mixed in with his idiot friendproblem. I checked my watch sadly. It was getting later, and soon enough,Serena would end up, (gulp) sleeping over at my apartment. Now if THATtemptation wasn't enough, I'd still hadn't figured out how to do the sleeping arrangements INSIDE the apartment. There was no way I could sleep on the couch and she on the bed, because we couldn't move more than six inches away from each other. The thought had crossed my mind that I could sleep on the floor, and she on the very edge of the bed, but if one of us rolled over... it just wasn't the brightest idea. The best bet was to just sleep in the same bed, with all our clothes on. Not the most comfortable, true, but the safest. Though it still was light out, and I felt somewhat secure. On a general basis, a youma didn't attack unless it was dark. That was a thought that had also been plaguing me. If Sailor Moon was in trouble, HOW could I transform, let alone save her, without Serena seeing me. I sighed. Back to the arcade to bark at Andrew again. Granted, he couldn't provide remedy of this, but he couldn't tell me to stop griping at him, either, because he knows very well he got me INTO this mess. A light bulb, though dim, flashed above my head. Pick the lock. It was simple! Incredible that I hadn't thought about it before! I wordlessly reached over Serena's acclaimed Meatballs and pulled out the single bobby pin holding it in place. A golden waterfall tumbled out. Serena only noticed I had pulled it out when it fell across her face. "hey...." she protested weakly, as I jammed the bobby pin in, twisting it around.Back in the orphanage, they used to lock the windows and doors at night. There wasbathrooms, and a supervisor at all times, but I soon became known as the best lock picker in the Sunny Dale Children's home. The Harry Houdini of the orphanage. Iactually had worked up quite a scam. Children gave me plenty of stuff to get them a pass out at night, weather it was to see a movie or whatnot. Most of the time we only got out on field trips and if we were REAAAALLLY sick. I yanked on the cuffs. They didn't budge. For some reason, I couldn't feel that little clasp that you had to jam into the lock. It was what triggered the cuffs to let go, and why keys worked... IF we had keys. Andrew "jug-head" (I was beginningto like the name) was dumb enough to not buy a pair with the cuffs. I sighed and withdrew the pin. It was all bent up, worthless to Serena now. She wailed, "DARIEN! Now what can I do! No one is supposed to see me without myhair up!" I sighed and handed her the sad, slightly crooked irregular bobby pin. "it'll still work," I said innocently, though I knew fair well that the pin wouldn't hold a single strand of hair in place. It was odd seeing the blonde without her Meatball. Alien even. But I had a feeling that I was one of the only people who had seen her without them on in a long, long time. She scowled, "I suppose I can forgive you for your ignorance!" she got an evil grin on her face, "but first you must bow down and beg! Or perhaps I shall have thee flogged for thy insolence!" I smiled. She wasn't REALLY mad, she was just playing, after all! I got on one knee, "I'm sorry, fair princess, for I hath failed thee! Perhaps if I do giveth thee a rose to make it upeth?" She giggled and glanced at the vase on our table. Carnations. "Perhaps carnations will have to do," she said, grinning at me. Little did she know. I smiled, "ready to see what thou hath lost while watching Andrewth? Looketh closely. Nothing up my sleeves, nothing in my teeth, but somehow a rose, I shall produce forthee, oh fine maiden." She giggled, as I pulled a rose out of thin air. She gasped, "Darien...how?" I smiled, "not Darien, Sir Darien! Thy noble, yet I'm afraid, not very humble, servant." Serena's eyes grew as wide as saucer plates. She hugged me, "thank you, Dar- I mean, Sir Darien. I am humbled by thy gesture." I grinned. Almost worth giving away the clue to my alter ego just by having her hug me. After all it was Sere- I slapped myself out of it, and pulled awayfrom her hug. "sorry, princess," I said, as I saw the hurt in her eyes. "but I hath much to do! Shall I fetch us my galant horse so that we canst drive to the park?" She raised an eyebrow, but didn't break character, "but the park is just a hop, skippeth, and a jumpeth away, Sir." I grinned, "not that park. The park that has the Ferris wheel in it, my lady. There we must go, so that you canst see the entire town. Thy wish is my command."She smiled, "but, my noble knight, that park is across Tokyo. Perchance we should go talk with Andrew to arrange sleeping, first?" I sighed, "yes, my maiden." There it was again. Sleeping arrangements. Every time I was JUST ABOUT comfortable with Serena, that came up... again. Serena took my hand (the one that was joined, naturally) and held the rose gingerly in the other. She smiled and sniffed it lovingly. She was jovial from a simple gift. It was incredible. I grinned as we walked hand in hand to the arcade. Andrew was more than shocked as we walked in, so happy. He smiled,"glad to see you're making the best of a bad situation, guys!" My smile faded, "Andrew, don't think this means you're off the hook. Wejust came back to make sure that you can talk to Amy and tell her to call Serena's mom. We'reheading out for the night." He grinned slyly, "so, this means you aren't going to kill each other while you're gone?" I rolled my eyes, "we're on a truce. Right now, we're heading to the park downtown to ride the ferris wheel. Don't get the wrong idea." Andrew rolled his eyes, "puh-leaze, Dare! Why would *I* do something like that?" he batted his eyes innocently. I rolled my own set. "Because I know you, Andrew. Just get in touch with Amy, okay." He nodded and we left the building. I led her to my apartment again, first to make sure that the sleeping was in order. Serena glanced up at me as I showedher into my bedroom. She blushed, and said, "um... I thought that we were going to the park..." I realized that she must think that this is some sort of stupid ploy to get her in bed, so I blushed and said, "no, no, I just wanted to make sure that sleepingwas okay for tonight. We'll just both sleep on here, but fully clothed, okay?" Serena nodded slightly. I sighed. One hurdle down, lord only knows how many left. It's not like we can just tell her parents she's sleeping over every night of the week, because they'd obviously suspect. Most parents, so I had heard, want to see their kids every now and then to make sure they're okay and out of trouble. I sighed. Too much stuff plaguing my mind. I cleared my head and just focused on the now. I had a beautiful girl chained to me, and a hot sports car, and a high ferris wheel to look forward to! I pulled Serena down to the parking lot, where my car was sitting, locked up tight and in a darker shadow so it was less noticable. I didn't want ANY theives even THINKING about my car. It took me many locks to pick and many five dollar favors to give out to get that car. I hmmed. I was glad for the way we were chained, that ment I was on the driver's side, but how would we get IN? I looked at Serena, "um, could you just crawlover the front seat and hop in?" Her eyes widened, "THIS is your car?" it had finally sunken in, even though I had held the driver's door open to her. I chuckled, "yup, sure is. Hop in, but please keep your left hand limp so I can drive." Serena gulped and nodded, "sure, Darien!" she then whispered under her breath just before she entered the black dream, "wow..." I grinned and hopped into my side. Serena did just as I had said, and her arm was limp and it was easy for me to drive. She chattered the entire way on and off about things, and I grinned at her innocence. She was so cute, and perfect. Then we were at the park, and we stood in front of the Ferris Wheel. Serena grinned, "well, Dare, let's get on it! It's dark now, and I'll bet we can see my house from up there!" she pointed at the top. I smiled, and paid the man operating the machine. "Stop us at the top, please!" I said, grinning. He nodded, "yes, sir! I'll stop the two love-birds at the tippy top." He leaned over me, "rumor has it that that's a GREAT make-out spot up there!" I blushed. He had whispered loudly. Serena didn't seem to mind, though, strange. We entered the small box and felt the rush of going backwards, up, up, and up. Suddenly, we stopped, and I felt as though I could see the whole world. And I could, in a way. By then, Serena was my whole world. ----------- AN: To be continued... *grins* I know, cheesy, but it had to be said. Keep on getting people who think that I've finished my stories, when I hadn't! Don'tworry, I'll put a "The End" on them! ^_^' Happy new years, all! I'm not sure how I managed to write and write straight like I did, but my hands are hurting from it! (I was writing on other stories, too!) This was fairly waffy, I thought. Well, please check out our contest! ^_^ Laters, peeps, -Mako
