AN: Gomen nasai, minna-chan, I should've started this chapter sooner. Ah, life seems to be giving me less and less writing time, though. *shrugs* ah well, I was inspired for this story, and sooner or later I'll finish Sere and Darien. (gomen about that, I just don't feel up to writing eight pages for a chapter, these are much shorter and sweeter). Much fan mail about the last chapter! Left you with plenty of romance, ne? Well, hold on to your hats, boys and girls, it's about to heat up even more! ^_^ Nowto thank Starlite-chan, and all my other friends out there. Thanks Andrea, Lady Starra, and Alicia for posting this, every one enjoy the chapter, usual disclaimers apply!----------Magic TricksPart 5Mako-chanBreeze13@hotmail.comPG ------"Oh, Darien!" Serena squealed, "I absolutely adore the view!" I smiled at her and for some reason, the words the operator had told meechoed through my mind. "rumor has it that it's a great make-out spot...." I choked out a "yeah..." and continued staring at her. Serena giggled and pointed around town, "ooh, there's the cathedral! And there's city hall! Oooh, and there's the seven eleven we passed!" I laughed as she continued to name off buildings in the distance. I glanced at the heavens, and pointed, "You know Serena, that's the real view we get." The stars were shining like diamonds and Serena gasped, "look, it'sOrion!" I grinned, "yeah, there's his sword, and his head..." Serena continued staring, "do you know the story behind Orion, Darien?" I shook my head, "no Serena, I don't know." I grinned cheesily, "I'mflunking Mythology, remember?" Serena smiled angelically. Of course she remembered, she just didn't want to hurt my feelings. "Orion claimed to be the second best hunter in the world, next to Artemis, the goddess of the hunt. One day, the giant scorpion scorpio challenged the mighty hunter. He fought bravely, but died in the end. Artemis, who loved Orion put his picture in the sky to immortalize him." She glanced at me, " he chases the Pleiades in the sky." She pointed to a clutster of seven bright stars, "the daughters of Atlas." I smiled, and murmured in her ear, "how did you ever get to be so smart in mythology?" Serena turned to me, "I don't know. I read a short book about it once, and it was like a refresher... I felt like I had already learned this stuff, but I just needed something to pick myself up where I left off." She smiled, "but that's silly, right?" I shook my head, "no, sometimes the past is like that. We may not remember, but it's still out there." I thought about my parents, whose faces I couldn't remember. My heart pounded achingly in my ribs, and I bit my lip. No time for sorrow, there never was. I smiled, "I'm living proof of that. I don't remember a thing before six years old." Serena laughed, "I doubt that, Darien! You're smart, and funny, and I'm sure you get little reminders of your family every now and then." I turned away from her, awkwardly with our hands together, and stareddown at the ground."Darien, is something the matter?" I shook my head, and muttered, "no, nothing's the matter. What makes you think that?" Serena sighed heavilly, "Darien, you're acting as if I have leprosy all of a sudden." She firmly took my shoulders and turned me back so that I was facing her. Amazing, since I was trying not to let her gain control of her left hand. Serena smiled, "Darien, I'm sorry. I was out of line, I mean, I don't know about your family life, and I'm prying. Please, forgive me." I smiled. "and we can just change the subject?" "Sure!" she chirped, "we can talk about anything you like!" I grinned, "tell me the story of Perseus."She glanced at me, "why?" I looked back at her, "it's my favorite of them all."She nodded, "okay." "Perseus was a great warrior. But I'm getting ahead of myself. First there was the matter of the gorgons. There were three gorgons, actually, and only one was mortal. There was Stheno, of strength, Medusa, and Euryale. Medusa was the queen, and she was the only one who was mortal. However, as people recall, Medusa wasonce a beautiful girl who hailed her hair as the chief of all her luster. She claimed that she was more beautiful than Athena herself, so Athena changed her hair into snakes, and her gaze could turn a mortal into stone. "on his quest for man-hood, Perseus was sent to kill the medusa. Luckilly, Athena acted as his guardian angel and told him how to be rid of the beast. He visited the Graiae, three crones who shared a single eye, and after stealing it (the eye) he convinced them to tell him how to handle the gorgon. He was not to look directly in the Medusa's eyes, because he would be turned into stone. He then ran into some Nymphs and obtained a cap of invisibilty, winged shoes, and a bag to place the head in. "Perseus set out on his adventure, fully prepared to face the monster. Using only the reflection in his mirror as a guide, he managed to get to the medusa and cut off her head, and then stuffed it in his bag. "Later, the hero rescued the fair Andromeda from a Sea Serpent. What had happened, was that she was so lovely, that the nerieds, the mermaids, that is, complained to Posiedon, the god of the sea, and he sent the monster to her to oblige them. Perseus used the head of the gorgon to save Andromeda." Serena glanced at me, "and so they married and lived happily everafter." I grinned, "it's a lovely story, with a beautiful girl, and a hero." She smiled, "heroes are hard to come by these days." I grinned, "see, tutoring me already?!" She laughed, "well, you need it the most!" I chuckled, "well, I think that we should get out now. I'm sure that I'll end up paying that guy down there more. I'm not sure how many times I motioned forhim to continue the ride." Serena beamed, "well, it was nice while it lasted. And it made me forget about our problem for a while." I nodded, "is it so horrible being chained to me?" She blushed, "no, of course not! But I was really begining to feel sorry for you! I mean, being chained up with a meatball head like me..." I laughed, "ah, but a meatball head is better than a stiff like me!" Serena sighed happily, "that's in the eye of the beholder, Darien." We hopped off, and I had to pay the man another twenty for the longride. We briskly walked through the park. Ducks swam in the river, and we saton the bridge and fed crumbs of bread at them. Serena was doing very well with that, and the ducks walked right up to her and ate out of her hand. This amazed me, because they would never even THINK about going near me, but with Serena there, as well, I must have been changed. The ducks must have sensed this new change, and decided to risk being next to me. I grinned, and gingerly stroked one of Serena'sgolden locks. "Serena," I murmured. She gazed at me, "yes..." she whispered back. I blinked a couple times, "maybe we should be heading back?" She looked slightly disappointed, but agreed. "Okay. But..." she bither lip. "what is it Serena?""Can we get some ice cream first?" I laughed, "Of course, my little Meatball Head." She smiled angelically, and we walked down to the ice cream place thatwas a few blocks away. Then, heading back into my car, we managed to actually eat something without much problem, because Serena's hand wasn't in my cone. (well, not TOO much...)She smiled, "glad we went down here, Darien." She sighed deeply, "I'm almost glad that Andrew locked us up together." I laughed, "Andrew... doesn't always think. But maybe you're right," I said, glancing at her, "maybe it was a blessing, rather than a curse." She laughed, "true, we have some how made a peace treaty. Though I'mnot sure how."I smiled and kissed her cheek, "It was all your doing." She blushed deeply, but had a pleased look on her face. We made it to the car and got in, and I began driving home, carefully reminding Serena to not move her left hand. She just sort of got gooey eyed and nodded, then began to stare of intospace. I chuckled to myself, but let her think to herself for a while. Eventually, regardless as to how much fun we had, we'd need some privacy. No one can be together toolong without going nuts. I pulled the car into my space, locked the doors, and we walked up to my apartment. Time to tackle the hardest part. Sleeping. I pushed the button of the elevator to my floor, and we waitedpatiently for the elevator to stop at it. We just grinned like idiots at each other, not saying anything. We entered my apartment, and I slung the keys onto the hook I have next to the doorloosely. Then I smiled and went into the bedroom. Serena giggled nervously, and we entered the well kept room. I placed an extra pillow and blanket on the queen size bed, and lay on it, fully clothed. I laughed, "here I am, about to get in bed with a beautiful girl who is chained to me."Serena glared playfully at the tease, and suddenly... WHAM! I shook my head. Something had just struck it. I glanced at the floor, and saw a single pillow. Thus, we were embarking on the pillow war that is still famous today. ------------------ AN: Hey, peeps!
