Ja ne! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Meant to be Together, Forever Chapter 2 Usagi-chan walked slowly home. She had flunked yet another one of her tests, but this one was worse than all of her others. This test, in particular, counted about thirty percent of her grade, which brought her D average down to an F+. Even Usagi-chan knew she could do better than that. But she really wasn't able to concentrate. She had visions of Mamoru-kun in a Negaforce uniform. It couldn't be true though. It didn't compute properly. There was definitely something wrong with him, but she doubted it was something having to do with the Negaforce. He didn't have those horrible waves of electricity, if that's what you want to call it. The scouts use the term bad Nega vibes, but it was more like a wave of strong evil energy that flowed through every nerve of all the scouts' bodies. And Usagi-chan didn't feel that energy whenever she was around him. So the possibility of Mamoru-kun being part of the Negaforce was very slim. But even though she was positive that Mamoru had nothing to do with the Negaforce, there was still that creepy feeling that something was there that she needed to know, but she wasn't able to think of what that little itsy bitsy thing was. It sort of loomed and glowed in her mind, like she knew what it was, but she couldn't think of it. It was like you are thinking of a word, and it's on the tip of your tongue, but you can't remember what it is. It got her very aggravated, so aggravated that it was the cause of her failure. Suffering her mother's raff would be even worse than getting that thirty-nine percent on that test. She knew exactly what would happen when she should the test to her mother... ''Usagi-chan, how did that exam go today?'' Her mother would say nicely. ''Please show it to me.'' Usagi would then show her mother the paper with all of the red marks on it, and her mother would blow her top. ''I thought you went studying with Melvin yesterday! He got a perfect score! What the hell happened Tsukino Usagi?! I want you to go study for a make-up test right this instant!'' Her mother would say. ''There is no make-up test this time, mother.'' She would respond. ''Then, YOU'RE GROUNDED!'' Usagi had played the whole entire thing over, and over, and over again and again in her head. It was all the same. A rain drop dripped from the gray clouds overhead. Usagi noticed that there was no more sun visible anymore, it made her kind of scared. Since she had taken her time getting home to put off the consequences of her failed test, she had totally forgotten about the thunderstorm warning on the radio earlier this morning. Usagi was whimpering; loud enough to be heard across the street. More drops of rain splattered on her head, and she knew she was in for it. Thunder started to crash lightly, but slowly grew as the storm grew. Larger and louder the thunder became. The drops of rain had turned into pouring marbles. Or that's what it felt like to Usagi-chan. Cars were passing slower by the minute. Every car that zoomed by seemed to be crawling compared to the now running Usagi. She had pulled her book-bag up over her head to keep partially dry during the storm. But the faster she ran the closer it seemed to get. Every rumble of the thunder turned into a huge and deafening crash. The sidewalk in front of her some where along the line became less and less visible. Usagi was now crying pretty harshly. Tears that fell from her tear ducts made her eyes swell in pain. Every blink she took a sharp pain arose and made her blink again to try and block the pain from her mind. But every time she did that, it became worse, and worse, until she could blink no more. Every inch that she used to be able to make out was becoming even more foggy. The streets had become unfamiliar to her. She hadn't noticed what a horror scene being out in a terrifying storm at night could be so frightening. She noticed some things, but others, like buildings, parks, parking lots, all of the important things became vaguely familiar to her. Her head swung back and forth trying to remember where that house had come from, or to see what street the sign said. It was a whirl of confusion. It made her head spin uncontrollably. It was like watching a movie fast forward. Everything to her became very dizzy and almost nauseating; watching this spectacle made her head pound and the twisting and jerking of her head gave her whiplash, and the more she cried the more the tears hurt. The salt in them was almost unbearable. Thunder continued to crash, and boom above her in the clouds. Usagi now stood still to let her thoughts flow freely in her mind. She knew that she was panicking, thinking that she may never get home to take a warm shower and to cower in the sheets of her warm bunny and moon bed comforter. But she now was thinking that, that was just a silly notion, and she should get it out of her mind right now, or she could break down, and get hurt by some mugger, or get raped by some person with AIDS or some other sexual disease. She let her bag drop to her side on the concrete ground, and she rubbed her temples with her eyes squinted shut tight. She allowed all possibilities to come, but none ever did. There was not one idea or thought of where she was, what time it was, and what the hell she was going to do. She did not like the idea of getting lost in the darkest part of Tokyo, especially at night. A single tear flowed down her cheek once more as she got more aggravated about the situation. She had no idea what to do. There were no people anywhere near her outside in this storm. Nobody in their right mind anyway. The cars passing by became fewer and fewer. All of the street lights were turned off for the night. She knew that a long time has passed since she left the school. Usagi was now soaked from head to foot, shivering, cold, and somewhat nauseated from all of the confusion plaguing her small mind. She thought that all was lost. She began thinking of all the things she wanted to regret doing. Taking Maggie's homework paper in fourth grade. Plagiarizing her mother's handwriting on a test paper last week and the week before, and three weeks before that. Stealing the cookies from the cookie jar a few days ago, and then lying about it. She never thought about all of this, she heard about regretting these kind of things when your in distress. Usagi laughed allowed. ''Distress, yeah, I am a damsel in distress!'' She screamed out to no one. An older man peered out of a garbage can. He wore rags as his attire. Yellow plaque stained his teeth as Usagi saw him smile at her. She saw him stand up and hold onto a newspaper over his head as he walked over. Usagi was choked with fear. She could not move. Some weird freak was walking towards her in a moment of being paranoid. 'This is just not happening to me. What did I do to deserve this?' Usagi thought. The man was no more than five feet away and closing in when he spoke. ''A damsel in distress are you? I can help you my dear. Or rather you can help me.'' Usagi heard him cackle evilly. ''No thank you sir... uh, I am sorry. I didn't know people were out here listening to me. Hehehe,'' Usagi gulped. ''Please excuse me.'' Usagi picked up her book bag and quickly hurried away past the man in the opposite direction. She crossed a lawn and to another sidewalk across the block. She wasn't able to stand it anymore. She grabbed her bangs and fell to the ground quivering. Her legs leaned up against her chest, and she held onto them like they were her only source of security. Her head fell to her knees and she cried again, but this time it was in full heart racking sobs. Rain drops dripped from her hair that had been plastered against her forehead. She stayed like that for a few moments, never letting her crying ease up. Soon she saw a bright flash to her right. Two bright headlights stared at her. She made no move, she just stayed there and cried, the person would have to go around if they wanted to pass, she didn't even have to pick up her head to know that the lights belonged to a car. But what scared her stiff and made her stop crying was the hand that was placed upon her shoulder. She gasped and carefully let her head rise. A pair of eyes stared back at her, a male hand held onto her shoulder. The man spoke out to her in a soft melodic tone. ''Usagi, why are you alone in the storm sitting on the street?'' It was Mamoru. He had come. 'Someone I know, here to save me from my nightmare!' Usagi thought. The next thing Mamoru saw or thought was Usagi slamming her body into his for some source of protection. She cried horribly hard. She was stiff, rigid, cold, wet, and most of all scared. He felt unsure of what to do. But his male insticts took over, and he placed his arm under her knees and behind her back; picking her up princess style he carried her back to his car and placed her in the passenger seat. He then pulled over the car and placed his dry jacket, that he left in the car, around her shivering body. Without warning she once again was back in his arms crying. Something behind his Sternum ached and hurt while watching her cry. He felt like this was meant to happen, like it was his destiny to heal her wounds and make her feel safe on this horrible night. He cooed and hummed and even tried singing a bit to try and calm her. And soon he knew it would work. 'If it worked for babies at the orphanage, then it should work for my Usako.' He thought. Usagi's tears subsided after a while, and she just laid there in his arms letting him rock her back and forth trying to let her know he wanted to protect her. Upon his chest he felt her eyelashes open and close sleepily as she welcomed a dream world filled with joy and jaunty people. Finally her stinging eyes closed for good and her mouth opened to let a soft snore escape from her lips. Mamoru felt relieved to know he did a good job making her feel better. The aching feeling disappeared and was replaced with a warm fuzzy ache that felt good to him. As he, too, closed his eyes he heard his Usako whisper. ''Mamo-chan... '' She, half asleep, moaned. And that was all what he heard from her. He chuckled a bit and started to think... 'Where did Usagi... er... rather Usako think of that? What does it mean though? Has my dream come true? I doubt it, but it's a thought'. ''What is it that my little Usako said? Did you call me Mamo-chan? Hmm? Awe, your so cute when you sleep. You fit perfectly in my arms, we would make a cute couple, as funny as it sounds.'' Mamoru said allowed. Usagi gasped deep within her mind. 'Did he actually say that about me?' Usagi thought. 'Does he like me?' Usagi made no move; afraid that he would think that she had heard him. The thought for some reason made her feel kind of happy. Before allowing sleep to invade her eyes, soul, and mind a soft touch was placed upon her forehead. Soft as it was Usagi knew the feeling. She blushed deeply and curled in deeper to hide her scarlet face where Mamoru-kun couldn't see it. She tightly gripped the slightly drenched shirt he wore and snuggled against him even more, which made him chuckle quietly. And for once since third period she welcomed sleep like it was her best friend. Mamoru didn't want to release her, she was warm against his body, and was snoring softly. But then he remembered the time at the arcade, there was a slight tremor in the Earth and she never awoke to it, it was like it never happened in the first place. He chuckled even more at the crazy thought, and shrugged it off by carefully placing his precious angel in the passenger seat and buckling her in for safety. Taking one last look at her he smiled then buckled himself in and started the engine with a roar and then a low humm as he stepped on the gas petal lightly. Nearly over an hour passed while driving to Usagi's place. For some strange reason the traffic was absolutely horendous, and Usagi had wandered far off on the other side of town. The rain was starting to lighten, but everything was still pitch black outside, way too dark to see anything in the near distance. Mamoru stopped at the nearest quicky mart to use the pay phone. Mamoru looked up Usagi-chan's number to call her folks to tell them he had her and he was on his way to drop her off. The phone rung a few times before anyone answered, but when they did it was a woman who answered and she sounded hopeful, and fearful. She also sounded as if she were crying. Mamoru wasn't so sure what to say to Usagi's mother except to tell her that her daughter was safe. "Hello? Who is this? Usahi, is that you?" Her mother sounded very worried. Mamoru could tell her hand was shaking violently, because the phone dropped to the floor, but she quickly picked it up. "No, ma'am, I am not Usagi, but I have her safe and sound, she's asleep in my car. I found her sitting in the street wet, shivering, and scared. She ended up there, I am guessing, because of the storm blinding her pathway, or view. I brought her in my car and she fell asleep, I went to the nearest pay phone and called just to say that she is safe and she'll be home real soon, ma'am." Mamoru waited for her response. "Oh thank you young man. What is your name? Is she all right? She isn't hurt or anything, is she? Where did you find her?" Mrs. Tsukino said crying. "No ma'am, she's all right from what I see, and I found her on the other side of town." "Oh dear, I wonder how she got there?" "The storm was really horrible earlier, so I wasn't surprised that she might have wandered from her usual route home. Umm... as of now, I should be there in about fifteen minutes from now. I should go now ma'am, she's in my car, if she wakes I don't want her to panic." "All right young man, but who am Ito thank?" "Chiba Mamoru, ma'am. Good-bye ma'am, I'll be there in a few." "Thank you, uhh... good-bye." The telephone was placed back upon the holder and change fell into the machine. Mamoru placed his hands in his pockets and rain back to his red sports car down in the parking lot. Within a few minutes Mamoru and Usagi were driving down the damp road running over acumilating puddles next to the curb. Mamoru's windshield wippers were going back and forth back and forth over and over again, but it was still almost impossible to see. He saw people pulling over to the side of the road to let the storm pass, but he just kept going; the fog lights were on right now, but he turned those off and turned on his brights instead. The storm was moving quickly overhead and the rain was subsiding ever so slowly, but it made it easier for Mamoru to see better in a matter of minutes. Mamoru saw houses to his right, and to his left, down the street was a porch light eerily shining from atop an arch that was attached to the door of the house. A woman was waiting there next to a man, they both seemed to be in their middle thirties, not too old, not to young. The woman held a hankerchiff in her right hand and the other hand held onto the man standing next to her. When Mamoru pulled into the driveway the parents ran out to the car almost at once. Mamoru got out and opened the passenger door for her father to pick up Usagi. Mrs. Tsukino was shaking Mamoru's hand so much that it hurt, she thought very highly of Mamoru, but her father didn't, he practically sneered at him. After a reluctant thank you and an eager good bye from Mr. Tsukino Mamoru left, and for the first time in a LONG time he would sleep with happy thoughts. Usagi awoke while being carried up to her room, but just changed and didn't bother taking a shower that night. Unnoticed by her was a letter on top of her dresser unopened and in red ink; it was addressed to her. Usagi fell asleep immediately after her head hit her pillow and she was instantly dreaming about her imaginary man. He started to take form, but it was still blurry, and Usagi was still too tired to even think of the possibilities. Instead, she dreamt about living in cloud nine. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ So what'd ya think? Tell me when you e-mail me. hehe! angel173145@hotmail.com
