“Moonlit Angel: Sunset” Chapter Two By: Shari Hirtle E-Mail: Miisty4810@aol.com Rating: PG Konnichiwa minna! I have nothing to say so will just skip this part and move onto my important note. IMPORTANT!!!!: I just noticed that at the end of the first chapter, there was something about some girl that looked like Lita named Destiny or whatever and she was talking to this guy. Well, I didn’t write that-- my little annoying cousin Laurie did so forget you ever read that part! Thanx. Oh yea! No, the other girls, scouts, will not appear in this fic, gomen ne. So anyway, onto the story... (thank yous are at the end) Moonlit Angel: Sunset It was edging sunset, 4:42, and Darien sat at his window, staring out at the woods while the word sunset echoed in his head. Finally, he decided to “follow the wind”, ‘What could it hurt? Besides, I got nothing better to do...’ he thought and walked out of his room. On his way down to the stables, he bumped into the guys, unfortunately. “Hiya Darien, where ya headed?” Jedite said and the rest of the guys blocked Darien’s way. “Uh.. I’m going down to the waterfall.” “OH! Can we come? We’re really bored and need someone to bug.” Jedite said and leaned on Darien’s shoulder. “Nope, sorry guys, but you can’t come this time,” he said and started walking again, but then he suddenly turned around. “and DON’T follow me! Bye!” he finished and continued on his way to get his horse, Midnight. The guys watched as their prince rode off into the tall, thick, snow coated trees. “‘Wonder why he’s being so secretive.” Kunzite started. “Maybe he knows something about the angel that we don’t.” Neflyte said and the guys, save Zoycite, grinned evily at each other. They started for their horses, but Zoycite held them back. “I don’t think we should be doing this, I mean, he said NOT to follow him and if he finds us.. well, you know how he is when he’s mad.” he said and the others nodded sadly. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ (meanwhile at the waterfall) Darien had just arrived at the waterfall and was just about to tie Midnight to a tree when, in the clear shimmering water, he saw a bright, silvery moonbeam shine down on it. Suddenly, there was a flash of blinding gold and silver light which made Midnight rear back and Darien fall to the ground, hands over his eyes. When he uncovered them, he was greeted by a snow white satin skirt that looked like it had a train of about 3-2 ft. He looked up slowly, going past long golden hair, a slim waist, long neck, pink lips that smiled softly, rosy cheeks, and then, he stopped at a pair of sapphire blue eyes which were looking down at him with a warm and calm expession. It was the angel...standing on water?!! Darien’s eyes grew wide and he quickly got to his feet, stepping back. The beautiful smile on the angel’s lips disappeared and was replaced with a cute pout, “No.. please, do not go. I will not harm you.” she said, her voice soft and clear as a bell. Darien watched as Midnight walked past him and up to the angel. She reached out to tuch him, but he backed away with a snort. “Shh.” she whispered and tried again. This time the horse did not move, but only stared at the great wings on the angel’s back. The angel smiled. Darien watched in amazement, ‘What?!! Midnight doesn’t like anyone, he doesn’t even like my mother and he lets this angel touch him?!’ “Who ARE you?” Darien asked, the angel turned her attention to the confused prince. “My-” she stopped and looked at the man in front of her. She finally decided that he didn’t look like the kind of guy who would hurt her, so she answered softly, “My name is Serena.” “Serena, it’s a beautiful name.” he breathed, not realizing he had said it aloud. Serena blushed, “Thank you.” ‘Huh? Oh god, I must have said that out loud. Great! Just peachy!’ he thought. “Hehe. I’m Prince Darien.” “Oh, pleasure to meet you.” “The pleasure is ALL mine.” he said and she blushed even more- she looked absolutely adorable. “What is your horses name?” she asked, feeding the horse sugar cubes that seemed to appear from the air. “Midnight,” he looked at her questioningly. “this might sound a little stupid, but...are there horses in heaven?” Serena smiled and shook her head. “No, or atleast there are no regular horses, but winged horses.” she asked, seemingly thoughtful. “Winged horses? You mean, like Pegasus?” Darien asked, disbelief obvious in his voice. “Yes, I guess you could say that. Would you like to see one?” “I, well, I mean.. are you sure it would be safe?” he started to stutter and Serena giggled. “Yes, it’s perfectly safe. Luna!” she called. Suddenly, a beautiful, white horse with lavender colored eyes, silver hooves, and even larger wings then Serena appeared at her side. “Oh my god.” Darien said under his breath, staring at the breathtaking sight in front of him. It was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen, besides Serena of course. “May.. can I touch it?” he asked, Serena nodded. He reached for the horse, but stopped just above its soft, white coat. “Do not be frightened, she will not hurt you, nor will I.” she whispered. Darien gently placed a hand on the horse’s hide; it was as soft as he had expected it to be and suddenly, he wondered what Serena’s hair felt like, if it was even softer than the horse’s mane. Serena sat down in front of the waterfall, staring at it, her eyes sad. Darien noticed and walked over to her, sitting down beside her. “What’s wrong?” he asked quietly as he saw her eyes tear up. “I died here, behind the waterfall.” she said and Darien’s eyes widened. They sat in silence for atleast 15 minutes until Darien spoke. “If you do not mind me asking, you do not have to answer, but.. how did it happen?” “A man, an evil man, Prince Diamond of the Dark Moon; he claimed to love me and asked me to marry him, join him in his castle and rule with him. I rejected the offer. He became angry and tried to force himself upon me...so I ran, but of course he followed me. I stopped here, in front of the waterfall’s lake, I could not run anymore. A few seconds later he dragged me behind the waterfall, where there is a cave. Before he killed me he said that I would die a painful death as I was supposed to.. a blade at my throat was my end.” she told him all this just above a whisper as the tears ran slowly down her cheeks. Darien couldn’t help but reach over and wipe the tears away from her suprisingly cold cheeks, he figured it was from the snow. She looked up at him and put on a weak smile. “I’m sorry, but I must go now, my guardian will be looking for me soon.” she said and he nodded. Luna walked over to Serena, sensing that it was time to leave, Midnight followed, but stood next to Darien. “When can I see you again?” he asked. “Oh, but I cou--” she cut off when he looked at her with eyes big and pleading and his lips in a pout. He looked just like a small puppy, cute and innocent. Serena was a sucker for animals, especially puppies. She smiled and thought for a second, “Tomorrow, at midnight.” “Midnight? Why so late? I’m not sure if I can make it at midnight.” “I have things to do tomorrow! Midnight or never.” she said, slightly angry. This time he smiled, ‘How can she be so cute...’ he thought then nodded, “Alright, midnight it is.” “Good.” Serena walked a bit closer to Darien, she looked down at the ground shyly and said, “Thank you.. for listening.” then kissed his cheek just before she and Luna began to fade. Darien stood there speechless with a dumb-struck expression on his face, his cheek tingled and almost burned. He felt his knees going weak and leaned against Midnight for support. After a minute or two Midnight snorted and brought Darien out of his stupor. He climbed atop of the horse and rode off towards the castle. In the shadows, a dark figure stood: arms crossed, back leaned against a tree, eyes full of hatred directed towards the prince. A low growl escaped from his throat, then he turned and disappeared into the darkness. ______________________________________________________________________________ I know, I know, it’s wicked short, gomen ne...
