Hey minna, this is the second part of My Fair Lady. I hope you like it. Please e-mail me with any ideas or things like that you might want me to write about. Disclaimer: Sailor Moon doesnÕt belong to me and it never will even though I may wish it does. When Serena, Darien, Andrew and Mistress Ruark finally made it back to DarienÕs townhouse SerenaÕs splints were off and she was able to walk around. Of course, that doesnÕt mean that Darien let her. ÒDarien! Put me down! I can walk now you know.Ó Serena reminded him. ÒI know you can but that doesnÕt mean that youÕre going to immediately.Ó Was all Darien replied. ÒOh, come on Dare, let the girl try out her leg. How is she going to learn to walk again if you wonÕt let her?Ó Andrew asked always the voice of reason. ÒAll right.Ó Darien set Serena gently on her feet near a coffee table just in case she needed to grab on to something. Serena, always the intrepid one stood on both her feet and walked around. She was just fine, you could even tell that she had broken her leg. She had no limp whatsoever and there was no pain. ÒSee Darien, I can walk.Ó Unfortunately while she said this she tripped over an extra piece of the rug and would have fallen flat on her face had Darien not be hovering so near ready to catch her. ÒThat is what you call walking?Ó He laughed because he had seen the extra piece of rug she had tripped on and in fact had tripped over it himself many times. He understood what was happening and decided not to tease her any further seeing as how he had absolutely no room to talk. Andrew would make sure of that because he would remind Darien of the various times he had embarrassed himself in front of people in that hall. The next couple of days were spent in preparation for the trip to the summer house. SerenaÕs wardrobe was picked up and packed in a trunk that Darien had bought her in celebration of getting her splint off. At the moment, they were all standing in front of DarienÕs personal carriage and were ready to jump in as soon as the word was given. Well, actually, Serena was ready to jump in while Darien, Andrew, and Mistress Ruark were waiting calmly on the curb. When they finally did get under way it was around the noon hour. The ride was bumpy and at times uncomfortable. One time the carriage had jolted over an especially large bump and Serena was bounced off her seat and right into DarienÕs lap where he was sitting on the other side of the carriage with Andrew. Andrew watched all this with joy because you could tell by the looks on both of their faces that neither one of them were opposed to the position they were in right now. It was only after Mistress Ruark loudly cleared her throat that the two lovebirds snapped out of their dazes and returned to their normal seats. The English countryside they passed was absolutely beautiful. There were moors full of purple heather and great oak trees all over the place. Not to mention various birds were chirping gaily as they fed their babies and flew around. There was one point on the trip where Serena grew really depressed. They had passed the property that her old home used to be on. Seeing this made all her bad memories surging to the forefront of her mind and made her unusually quiet until they had passed by that particular stretch of land that Serena resumed her normally happy nature and chattered about anything that came to her mind. This change of moods went unnoticed by everyone except Andrew. He decided to ask her about it later while they were in one of their study sessions so that she could not escape answering him and telling him the truth. He had already figured out that she was no common street girl and that she had to have come from a really rich family in order to know the things she did and to have that air of intelligence surrounding her. It was around eight oÕclock by the time they reached an inn where they would spend the night. It wasnÕt a very pleasant one but it was the only one that was around for miles. It was called the KingÕs Crown. When they went in there were commoners in the room and there were also people of class looking for a place to rest their heels for the night. Two men caught SerenaÕs eye as being seedy and not all that pleasant. Unfortunately they thought Serena was the most beautiful thing they had ever seen and decided they would try to win her over. As if that could happen when she was with Darien and Andrew, genuine gentlemen. ÒLook at that pretty thing over there. I wonder if we could persuade her to come home with us and look after us like she is those two gentlemen.Ó One of them whispered to the other. They decided to try which, on their part, wasnÕt a very smart idea. ÒHey purty little lass, why donÕt you come over here and leave those two dandies and wait on a real man.Ó The other one shouted over the din in the room. It all of the sudden got very quiet as everyone focused on the argument that they knew would ensue. ÒWho me?Ó Serena asked surprised that a man that dirty could be calling himself a man at all. And the nerve of him calling Darien a dandy! ÒYeah you, why donÕt you come over here so we can take you home with us and you can serve us like you seem to be so willing to do for those two blokes over there.ÓDarien was hearing all this and by the second her was growing angrier and angrier. Andrew touched him on the arm to remind him not to totally blow his top. Andrew had faith in the fact that Serena would put those two uncouth idiots in their place. He was absolutely right. ÒME? Serve YOU! Ha thatÕs a laugh. If you donÕt know already I will inform you that no woman is made to serve a man. Especially not me. I have more brains in my little pinky thumb than the two of you put together. Imagine YOU saying that these fine GENTLEMEN are dandies when they both could best you in anything you try to do is absurd. Give me a break! For one thing IÕm not stupid enough to go home with you when I have a perfect life here. I would never lower myself from what I have now to live with you in the squalor that you obviously dwell in by the stench that you give off.Ó Serena stated calmly as the two gentlemen flushed in embarrassment because a mere slip of a girl had bested them in a battle of wits. Darien and Andrew just stared at Serena because they didnÕt know that she had it in her to stand up to these obviously dangerous men. Then after Darien couldnÕt handle it anymore he burst out laughing. He couldnÕt get over the fact that Serena was more magnificent than he had thought at first. ÒBravo Serena! You certainly put those two in their places.Ó He said with mirth evident on his face. The two men just sat there as they were at loss for words. Then the rest of the inn broke out in applause for the girl who had put down the most loud and odious men that had ever set foot in the inn before. Darien arranged for them to get four separate rooms with the innkeeper and also for the food they had ordered to be brought to them in DarienÕs room. It was there that the three friends sat and thought about what had just occurred in the common room. ÔRemind me never to get on SerenaÕs bad side.Õ Andrew thought with amusement. ÔSerena canÕt be a common street girl to have had that air of royalty and magic about her when she put those two idiots in their place.Õ Were DarienÕs thoughts as he mused over where Serena had come from. ÔHow could I have done that! Darien will surely know IÕm not who I seem to be from that display with those two men.Õ Serena thought, more in panic than in self congratulation of herself like she usually would have felt had she done that. There was knock on the door and a servant came in with their trays of food. They had ordered stuffed partridge, plum pudding, a light wine, and other various foods that had appealed to them when they had looked at the fare in the kitchen. They ate in silence for the most part. There was an occasional ÒmmmÓ from Serena as she tasted something new that she had never had before. ÒThat was interesting now wasnÕt it.Ó Andrew commented as he finished what was left of his food. He felt that SerenaÕs deed could not go unrecognized. ÒIÕm sorry I lost control of my temper there. I usually donÕt do that in public. I couldnÕt help myself that time, the attitude of those men towards me was something that I couldnÕt stand.Ó Serena blushed as she thought back on the various times she had really lost her temper. Those men were lucky that it had been one of her more mild displays. ÒAll you have to do is learn to fight to go along with that tongue and you wouldnÕt need me and Darien around anymore.Ó Andrew teased. What he didnÕt know was that Serena actually could fight very well. He father had a friend of his teach her. He was an Asian man and had known very well the martial arts. He had taught Serena and was surprised at how quickly she had learned and become better at it than any man he had ever seen. ÒWell I suppose that youÕll have to teach me when we get to the summer house.Ó Serena replied to Andrew. She had already decided that she would tell Andrew everything about herself when their first tutoring session began. She needed someone to confide in and she knew that if she asked him that Andrew would refrain from telling Darien about her. ÒI think we all need to get to bed. WeÕll reach the summer house tomorrow and we need to be up before the sun rises.Ó Darien suggested as he found that he needed to be alone to ponder what Serena could have been hiding from him. ÒYes I think that also. I am after all quite tired.Ó Serena warily added when she saw the confused look on DarienÕs face. She wondered what was disturbing him and decided not to ask him about it because he obviously wanted to be alone. He was practically kicking them out of his room. SerenaÕs room was right next to DarienÕs room. When Serena was safely ensconed in her room she could hear Darien pacing back and forth in his. ÔAre you wondering about me Darien. I wish I could tell you who I was but I donÕt think you would let me stay with you if you knew that I was as rich as I am. I hope that it wonÕt irreparably hurt our friendship or whatever else we have when I tell you.Õ ÔSerena! Where do you come from? You are unlike any other person that I know. You affected me in some way that I canÕt point out and itÕs really confusing me. Sometimes I want to talk to you like you were my sister or childhood friend and in others I want to grab you in my arms and kiss the life out of you. What are you doing to me? Why canÕt I figure this out? Am I going absolutely crazy? All I know is that I need you in my life and if you leave then I donÕt know what I will do.Õ Meanwhile in AndrewÕs room he was drawing some conclusions. ÔSerena is definitely not a street girl. Or at least she didnÕt start out that way. I will have to talk to her during one of our tutoring sessions. I have to find out where she is from and why she is impersonating someone she isnÕt. I just hope that when or if she tells Darien it doesnÕt totally crush him and break his heart.Õ What Serena didnÕt see when she went to her room was the two men she had bested earlier waiting in an alcove in the hall. They saw what room she went in and decided that they would exact revenge on her for the humiliation she had caused as soon as they were sure that she was sleeping. They were thinking that they would kidnap her out from under those two gentlemenÕs noses. Then they would both feel like fools and that girl would get what she deserved for what she had done to them. They failed to see, as they had when she had first walked into the inn, the indomitable will that Serena possessed and did not know that she would fight them with every breath she had in order to escape them. They would soon find out. It was around one oÕclock in the morning when they finally made their move. Earlier they had bribed a barmaid with what little money they had to get the key to SerenaÕs room so that they would not have to make any unnecessary noise while they tried to open the door. ÒLetÕs get the lass and get out of here before they all wake up.Ó Serena, hearing a noise in her room that she didnÕt recognize, was just waking up when a hand clamped over her mouth, muffling the scream that was in the back of her throat. She opened her eyes and saw the two men from the common room. They were looking at her with an evil gleam in their eyes. ÒNow, donÕt you make a noise little girl. WeÕre taking you away and youÕre not going to put up a fuss are you?Ó The smelly man asked and was satisfied with the ÒmphhÓ that Serena gave in protest. They dragged her out of the bed and was surprised what she had worn to bed. It was a pair of the trousers that Darien had bought her. She had expected that they would do something in retaliation and wanted to be prepared. They did not know about her martial arts training and the small table knife that she hid in the sleeve of her shirt. She stood still as she waited for an opportunity to yank her arms from the grasp of one of the men. Her opportunity came as he loosened his hold on her wrists because he did not see her as any threat. That was a very big mistake. Serena tore her wrists away from him and landed a right hook to his face as he stood there surprised. She then turned and landed a spinning bicycle kick to the other manÕs middle. Darien who had heard all the commotion from his room burst through the door and was watching this in amazement. Andrew soon followed him. One of the men tried to hit Serena but only got air when she went into a back flip to avoid it. She then retaliated with an uppercut to his jaw and a couple of jabs to his eyes. The other man got up for another round and soon found himself on the ground again as she landed another well placed drop kick to his knees. Both men had finally had enough and were racing for the door when they realized the two extra presences in the room. They reversed their directions and took the hard way out the window. It was when they reversed their direction that Serena turned and noticed Darien and Andrew in the doorway. A blush slowly crept into her cheeks and she looked down at the floor. ÒWell, I guess I donÕt really need to teach you to fight do I Serena?Ó Andrew joked as Darien was still suffering from the shock of seeing Serena kick some butt. ÒWell at least I didnÕt have to use this.Ó Serena replied as she slipped the knife out of her sleeve and placed it on the nightstand. ÒHow did you learn to fight like that?Ó Darien asked, shock still in his voice. ÒI learned from one of my friends how to defend myself in case something like what just happened actually did.Ó Serena simply said as she smiled at Darien. She didnÕt tell him that her father had wanted her taught because he still did not know of her past. ÒWell, IÕm beat so IÕm going back to my room to sleep.Ó Andrew yawned as he left the room to seek the comfort of his own bed. ÒYou coming Dare?Ó ÒNo Andrew, I want to talk to Serena.Ó Darien replied as Andrew left. Serena immediately grew nervous because she knew she was probably in for an interrogation. When Andrew had left Darien seated himself in an armchair that was nearby SerenaÕ bed. He made himself comfortable and closed his eyes. This puzzled Serena no small bit. ÒDarien, what did you want to talk to me about?Ó Serena questioned hesitantly because she was nervous about being found out. ÒNothing. I just had to make an excuse for why I was going to stay late in your room. You donÕt have to tell me the real way that you learned to fight. I know that you will tell me eventually and that youÕre not ready right now. I just want to stay in here in case those two try to come back and do something to you. I doubt they will though after how you took it to them.Ó Darien chuckled as he remembered seeing Serena kicking some serious ass. ÔDonÕt worry Serena, I will find out where youÕre from and who you are. I just wish that you would trust me enough to tell me yourself instead of me having to find out myself. What could be so terrible that you donÕt want to tell me? Believe me, I would accept you not matter who you are. Rich or poor, weak or strong. I donÕt know if this feeling is love, but I do know that I care deeply for you.Õ If only Darien had said these words to Serena the moment he was thinking them. If he had he would have saved both of them a lot of trouble. To Be Continued. . .
