“Only You” Chapter Three

   Darien knocked on his door since he couldn’t get to his keys.
   The door opened instantly, “Oh Dari--” Faith hushed when she saw
that 
Darien was carrying a sleeping girl. “Um, Dear, who’s that?”
   “Serena.” he answered, while taking Serena to his room.
   “Oh, so THAT’s Serena.”
   “Hai, Mother, this is Serena,” he set her down on his bed. “she’s
had a 
rough day so...” he stood up and started to push his mother out.
   He sat Faith down on the couch and was about to explain what had
happened 
when his father walked into the room, a lost expression on his face,
“Uh, why 
is there a girl in your bed, Darien?”
   “Come, sit down, Dear, Darien was about to tell me what happened.”
   Darien told them everything from the fight with Josh to the park.
   “Oh, that poor girl.” Faith said.
   “Hai...I’ll call her parents just to let them know that she’s
alright.” 
David said and went to the phone and looked up Aarons in Darien’s phone
book.
   “Darien, do you have any homework this weekend?” 
   “Hai, you gotta meet Serena’s parents.” he said and walked to the
bathroom.
   “No problem, oyasumi-nasai, sayonara.” David hung up the phone and
walked 
to Darien’s room, Faith followed.
   They stood in front of Serena, looking down on her with small smiles
on 
their faces.
   “So, this is the girl my son’s in love with, ne?”
   Faith nodded, “Hai.” she whispered as they walked back to their own
room.

   Darien put a blanket over Serena and sat down beside the bed. He
stared at 
her in disbelief; he couldn’t get over the fact that Serena Aarons was
asleep 
in his bed.
   He softly brushed her bangs away from her eyes and lightly kissed
her 
forehead. After a few minutes he fell asleep.

<the next morning>

   Serena slowly opened her eyes and suddenly stiffened, this was NOT
her 
room. She hazily recalled what had happened the night before. ‘Sammy
and 
Manga Universe, Josh and Sarah, home- mom and dad fighting, and park
and 
Darien.’ she thought. ‘OH! Of course, Darien must have brought me to
his 
house after I fell asleep.’ she concluded and to prove herself right,
she 
looked to the side and there was Darien, sound asleep.
   She smiled softly, he looked too adorable with his head rested on
his 
folded arms, his bangs falling into his eyes, and his lips parted
lazily. She 
gently ran her fingers through his hair and softly down his cheek.
Right when 
she took her hand away his eyes started to open.
   “Ohayo.” she said with a smile.
   He smiled back, “Ohayo.”
   They both sat up and stretched, then, they froze and carefully
sniffed the 
air.
   “Bacon, eggs, and pancakes.” they whispered in unison and flew to
the 
kitchen where Faith stood over the stove, cooking and David sat at the
table, 
reading the paper.
   Faith looked up and smiled, “Ohayo, kids, onegai, sit down-
breakfast is 
almost ready.” she said and the two did as told.
   A few minutes later, Faith set four plates on the table and sat
down, “I’m 
Faith,” she introduced herself to Serena then shook her hand. “and
that’s my 
husband, David.”
   “Yuroshiku. Darien, I thought you said your mother’s name was
Katherine.” 
Serena said.
   “Oh, my first name is Katherine, Faith is my middle name which I
like 
better.” Faith explained and Serena nodded her understanding.

<after breakfast>

   “Arigatou, Faith, that was great.” Serena complimented, bringing her
plate 
into the kitchen.
   Faith smiled and took the plate, “Irasshai mase, Serena--”
   “Just call me Bunny.”
   Faith nodded, “Ok, Bunny, I’m glad you liked it. Now, why don’t you
go 
call your parents and see what time would be good for us to meet, ok?”
   “Ok.” Serena to the cordless phone off the hook and dialed her
number.
   “Moshi moshi.” she heard Sammy’s voice on the other line.
   “Konni-wa, Sammy, it’s Serena, Okaa-san there?”
   “Konni-wa, Bunny! Hai, hold on a sec. MAMA, BUNNY’S ON THE PHONE!!”
she 
heard him yell and smiled.
   “Serena?”
   “Hai, Mama, Darien’s parents would like to know when they should
come 
over- the only homework I have is to have you and them meet for
sociology.”
   “Oh ok, um, how about...11:50, we could do it over lunch.”
   “Ok, lemme ask,” she put a hand over the receiver. “would 11:50 be 
alright, you know, like, over lunch?”
   “Sure, that’d be great.”
   “Hai, Okaa-san, that’s perfect.”
   “Ok--OH! Look at the time, it’s 10:37 already, I’ve got to clean the

house! See you in a while, Sweetie, sayonara.”
   “Sayonara, aishiteru.” with that, she hung up.

<11:48~ Serena’s house>

   Serena unlocked her door, Darien, Faith, and David behind her, “Mom,

Dad?!” she yelled and Debrah and John came out of the kitchen.
   “Konnichiwa, I’m Debrah.” Serena’s mother said, shaking Faith’s
hand.
   “I’m Faith and this my husband, David.”
   “John, nice to meet you.” Serena’s father said with a friendly nod.
   “Onegai, why don’t you sit down, lunch is just about done.” 
   “Um..brb, I’m gonna go change.” Serena said and rushed up the
stairs.
   “brb?” Faith asked.
   “Be right back.” Darien answered and the three parents nodded as if
saying 
‘Oooh.’
   “The way kids talk these days, it’s like their from another planet
or 
something.” David commented and then, an all out conversation of kid’s 
language started and Darien groaned.

   Serena washed her face and brushed her teeth. Then, walked out of
her 
bathroom, to her closet to seek out outfit number two. After about ten,
or 
so, minutes, she finally found it and got dressed, combed her hair and
put on 
a touch of Vanilla Rose perfume. ‘Poor Darien, our parents are probably
down 
there talking about ‘kid’s language or something.’ she thought and
quickly 
ran down the stairs.

   Darien looked up to the stairs and finally saw Serena coming
down...he 
almost started drooling. Unfortunately, John saw this and ‘ahem-ed’
quietly, 
but loud enough to get Darien’s attention. He shot Darien a death look
and 
pushed four pieces of paper towards him, written on the top of the
first page 
was “Daddy’s Dating Rules”. Darien laughed nervously and looked out the

window, as far away from Serena as possible. John smiled proudly and
went 
back to the conversation he had been in earlier with the Carters.
   Serena sat down next to Darien and started to listen to the
conversation 
the grown ups were having then rolled her eyes in annoyance. ‘Oh my
god, they 
ARE talking about kid’s language! Must...get...away...!’ her mind
screamed 
and searched for an excuse to get her and Darien away from the
stupidity of 
the conversation that was taking place next to them. Then, in came mom
to the 
rescue, “Lunch is ready. Serena, Dear, could you take these out to
Sammy and 
Ben? They’re outside, in the backyard.”
   “Sure, Darien come on, you can meet Sammy and his.. friend.” she
said and 
he quickly followed.

~Darien P.O.V.~

   I followed Serena out to a HUGE backyard with a big apricot tree, a
sand 
box, swing set, and patio. The kid from the arcade, who was obviously
Sammy, 
and his friend were both sitting in the tree, eating apricots and
dropping 
the seeds on the ground. Serena gave the two plates to me and stepped
under 
the tree then looked up.
   “BUNNY!!!!” Sammy yelled and hopped out of the tree and into
Serena’s 
arms, she laughed and I couldn’t help but smile.
   “Hey Sam, miss me?” she asked and the little boy nodded with a pout.
   “Don’t EVER do that again, Bunny, ok?”.
   “Ok.”
   “Bunny, who’s that?” he pointed to me and Serena put his hand down
--it 
wasn’t polite to point, but like he’d care, he’s only 5-- “That’s
Darien, 
he’s my friend.”
   “Oh, ok.” she set him down and he walked over to me.
   “Hello Mr. Darien type person, can I have my food now please?” he
asked, 
looking up at me as if I were 50 ft. tall. I laughed, this kid was too
cute, 
and gave him his plate, he smiled and stuffed a potato chip into his
mouth.

(ANH: I couldn’t help but steal a small part from Meredith B. Mallory’s
story 
“Fairy Tales”, that is THE cutest story I have EVER read and if you
haven’t 
read it, then read it...but only after you’re done with this one, of
course, 
hehe.)

   Then the other kid, Ben, I think it was, jumped down from the tree
and 
into Serena’s arms, she set him down almost immediately.
   “H-hi Serena.” he said, his eyes wide.
   “Hi Ben.” Serena said flatly.
   “How are you?” he asked, I could tell that this kid was in love with
the 
angel too.
   “I’m fine.” she sounded quite irritated.
   “Wow, me too.”
   “Uh..that’s nice, I’m gonna.. go over there now.” Serena pointed in
back 
of her.
   “Ok.” 
   She started walking over to the patio, Ben followed. She stopped and

turned around, Ben smiled the biggest smile I had ever seen. 
   “Ugh, um..Ben, why don’t you go.. play with Sammy?”
   “But, I wouldn’t wanna leave you here.. all alone.”
   “Oh don’t worry about me, besides I’ve got Darien...to hang out
with.”
   “Oh, you mean...HIM?”
   “Uh-huh.” she nodded.
   “Fine, be that way, it’s your loss.” he said, turned on his heel,
put his 
nose up in the air and walked away, as he went by he blew a raspberry
at me.
   I laughed as I walked over to Serena, “Well, SOMEone has a crush on
you.”
   “Yea, tell me about it. He’s been acting that way around me ever
since he 
was 4 and he’s 7 now, can you imagine how annoying that is?”
   “No, I can’t say that I can.”

~My P.O.V.~
<after lunch>

   “Well, thank you Debrah, the lunch was wonderful.”
   “Oh, you’re welcome.”
*RING RING*
   “Excuse, Faith.” Debrah went to the phone. “Moshi moshi.”
   “Hi Mrs. Aarons, it’s Mina, is Serena there?”
   “Oh, hello Mina, yes she is, hold on just a sec.”
   “Thanks.”
   Debrah poked her head out the back door; Darien and Serena seemed to
be 
having a debate, “Serena, Mina’s on the phone.”
   “Oh, could you bring out the cordless, please?”
   “*Sigh* Yes Serena, just a second.”
   A minute later, Debrah came out with the cordless and handed it to
Serena, 
“Serena, next time, hang up the phone, don’t put it on your bed and
lock the 
door.” 
   “Hehe, sorry. Hey Mina, what’s up?”
   “Well it took you long enough.”
   “Sorry.”
   “You’re forgiven. Now, me, the girls, and our partners wanna see a
movie 
and we were wondering if you wanted to come.”
   “Sure, can Darien come?”
   “Yea, he’s there?”
   “Yup, our parents are doing that meeting thing for sociology.”
   “Oh.. You know, Bunny, this may seem kind of, oh I dono, strange or 
suprising, but...Darien’s in love with you. He has been since 9th
grade. He 
loves you and ONLY you.”
   “Ok, Mina, stop. That’s not even funny, we’re just friends. Ok?”
   “Ok.”
   “Good.”
   “*Hopeless Sigh* Anyway, can you guys meet us at the Seiya Cinema in
about 
20 minutes?”

(ANH: No, I do not like Seiya, I couldn’t hate him more, but it just so

happens that Seiya means starry night and I wanted to call the movie
theater 
that, OK? Ok, now, back to the story.)

   “Hai.”
   “By-- Hold on! Lemme talk to Darien!” she heard Andrew’s voice in
the back.
   “Serena, could you put Darien on, Andrew wants to talk to him.”
   “Andrew’s there?”
   “Yea, so are Lita and Ken. Raye, Chad, Amy, and Greg are gonna meet
us at 
the theater.”
   “Oh, tell Leets I said hi,” then she handed the phone to Darien.
“Andrew 
wants to talk to you.”
   “Hello?”
   “Hey Dare, have you told Serena that you like her or anything?” he
asked.
   “Not so loud. No, I haven’t, why would I, I’m not nuts.”
   “Hm, I would if I were you. I over heard Josh telling his friends
that he 
had the perfect plan to win Serena back, so.. tell her about your
feelings 
before it’s too late again.”
   “Whatever Andrew. Hey, where are we going?”
   “Movies.”
   “What are we seeing?”
   “Galaxy Quest.”

(ANH: That is like the funniest movie ever, you gotta see it. I know, I
know, 
I’m talking way too much, I’m just bored and a bit hyper so just ignore
me...)

<in the house>

   “But Serena, I thought you told me that you two had to be here when
we 
met.”
   “I know, Mama, but I already told them we could go so they’re
probably 
waiting for us there now.”
   “Now Serena, what’s homework is homework and you’re not going
anywhere, so 
sit down and stop whining.” John said sternly.
   Then, Serena did the one thing that could melt anyone, especially
her 
father.. she pouted. 
   With her lower lip trembling and sticking out slightly and her eyes 
watery, big, and innocent she said, “Please, Daddy?” in a baby-ish
voice. 
   He AND everyone else in the room nodded, telling her she could go.
She 
smiled cutely, “Thank you, Daddy, love you.” she said, grabbed Darien’s
hand 
and rushed out the door.
   “She’s got us wrapped around her finger.” Debrah shook her head.
   “Don’t worry, she had us there, for a second, too.” David said and
the 
four laughed.

<outside the movie theater>

   “Ok, so remember, do ANYthing possible for you to get them together,

Darien’s crushed on her for waaaay too long and, believe it or not, he 
deserves her so we’re gonna give her to him, got it?” Andrew said and 
everyone nodded.
   “Got it.” they all said.
   “And PLEASE.. try not to be too obvious.” Mina added and they broke
the 
huddle.
   When they stood up and looked around, they noticed that everyone was

staring at them like they were crazy. They all put their hands behind
their 
heads, started laughing nervously, and blushed, “Maybe we should have
picked 
a better spot, other than the entrance to the theater, for a huddle,
ne?” 
Chad said, the others only blushed further.

<during the movie~ inside the theater>
~Serena~

   Gee, this movie would be fun if everyone would stop trying to set me
and 
Darien up. Yes, I’ve noticed they’ve been trying to get us together all

night. I mean, it’s pretty obvious; first, Lita made Darien pay for my 
ticket, then Greg said they all didn’t have enough money for everyone
to have 
their own food, so you can guess who I ended up sharing with, I even
have to 
share my drink with him! And to top it off, Mina made us share a seat,
“Oh 
no, look, there are only 9 seats and there’s 10 of us! Darien, Serena,
you 
two don’t mind sharing a seat, do you?” were her obvious words. *rolls
eyes* 
But hey, I’m not actually complaining, I mean, no girl in her right
mind 
would; Darien’s totally hot and he smells like heaven. I just wish they
would 
give us a chance to do it ourselves instead of having them push us
around. 
We’re both shy people who don’t like to show our true feelings...most
of the 
time. You could call us stubborn, but I prefer willful.

<after the movie~ outside the theater>

   The movie ended and we all stretched our legs and walked out of the 
theater.
   Right when we were all about to go our separate ways, Andrew just
HAD to 
say, “Darien, why don’t you walk Serena home?”
   That was it, I couldn’t take it anymore! “Ok, stop it, Andrew! Stop
it, 
ALL OF YOU, this is getting REALLY annoying! I’ve noticed all your
little 
signals and signs to get me and Darien together and I’m getting
majorly--”
   “Majorly is no--” Amy tried to cut in.
   “Let me finish, dammit! and I’m getting majorly annoyed at how
obvious 
everything is. If Darien and I like each other then let us deal with
this on 
our own. If Darien wants to walk me home, then he’ll walk me home, but
if he 
doesn’t, then he doesn’t have to, got it?!” I yelled.
   With wide, scared, eyes they nodded and I looked to Darien and he
smiled.
   I smiled back, proudly, “Good.” I said simply then turned around and

started walking.
   “Serena, wait up.” Darien called and caught up with me.

~My P.O.V.~

   “Well, SOMEbody didn’t take their midol today.” Chad said. The guys 
laughed and Raye slapped him upside his head.

<park>

   Serena and Darien walked in sweet silence through the park. The sky
was 
unusually dark, a perfect night to look at the stars, and the cool air
was 
lightly scented with roses. 
   Serena hadn’t known it was gonna be this late when the movie ended
so she 
hadn’t bothered with bringing her jacket, but now she was freezing.
Then, 
suddenly, she warm; Darien had put his coat around her. She looked up
at him 
and smiled, “Thanks.” she said and leaned against his shoulder as they 
continued to walk. 
   Serena carefully placed her hand in his, hoping he wouldn’t mind. He

didn’t seem to mind or notice and she gave a relieved sigh. 
   Then, Darien remembered what Andrew had told him on the phone
earlier and 
stopped.
   “Serena?” he asked and she stepped in front of him.
   “Yes?” she asked with hope-filled eyes.
   “Serena, I-I’ve been.. wanting to tell you this for a while a-and I 
guess.. that I can’t put it aside any longer...or I might lose you..
again. 
What I wanna.. What I want...to tell you is that- is that...” he
trailed off 
and sighed hopelesly. Then, Serena put a hand to his cheek, walked
closer, 
and kissed him. To say he was suprised would have been the second 
understatement of the year, to say he was happy would have been THE 
understatement of the year.
   She, slowly, ended the kiss and whispered, “Darien, what I’ve been
wanting 
to tell you is that... I love you.”
   With that said, Darien’s arms slid around her slim waist, pulling
her 
closer, and into another kiss. Serena put her arms around his neck, to 
strengthen the kiss, and let her body melt into his.
   She didn’t need him to say that he loved her, the kiss was enough,
it was 
all she needed- to know that he loved her, and only her.
