Please Don’t Go

 

" Hey Andrew! " A guy with jet-black hair and mid-night eyes called out to his best friend.

" Hey Darien! How’s it going?" A guy with blond hair called back.

" So Um Andy, have you seen a… Serena around lately? " Darien asked.

" Strangely no. In fact I haven’t seen her all week!" Andrew said.

" Nothing wrong right?" a concerned voice said.

" Nothing wrong that I know of. Say, how come you’re so worried about Serena? Don’t you hate her or something?" Andrew said slyly.

" I…I’m just concerned." Darien blushed a little.

" YOU LIKE HER!" Andrew gasped.

" I do not!" Darien said, but his face was a red as an apple already.

" Admit it Dar, you’ve got it bad! No wonder why you’re always so mean to her! Hehe! You just get tough tied around her." Andrew giggled.

" I DO NOT! " Darien was very red now.

" YES YOU DO!" Andrew pressed on.

" FINE! So maybe she’s kinda cute."

" Kinda cute? Jeez Dar, I sort of think she’s very hot."

Darien’s face changed from red to green. 

" HEY! She’s mine!"

" Hun? I thought you said she was just a little cute. I guess you won’t mind me asking her out now do you?" Andrew smiled slyly.

" NO YOU CAN’T!"

" Why?"

" OKAY! Fine, I’m head over heels in love with her! I only tease her because it’s the only way to fight off the urge to grab her and kiss her. Satisfied? Please just don’t make a move on her!" Darien begged.

" Well, since you LOVE her that much I guess I’ll have to give her up. It’s about time you confessed your feelings for that girl. Try to be nice Darien okay? Maybe after a while of being nice to her she’ll learn to like you." Andrew said.

" You think I’ve got a chance?"

" Sure why not."

" ANDREW!" the blond girl called.

" Serena! Where’ve you been! I’ve missed ya!"

" You have?" Serena said with hearts in her eye. 

Darien on the other hand was giving Andrew the "say you like her and I’ll kill you" look. 

" So how are you doing Meatball Head." ~ Great Move Chiba! ~ 

Andrew gave him a sad look.

" AHHH! How many times do I have to-" Serena stopped mid-sentences as a gorgeous blond with greenish blue eyes walked up to the counter and order a coke then left to find his sit. Serena’s eyes followed him as he sat down.

" Wow…" She whispered.

~ Oh great Chiba, now she’s no longer in love with Andrew, but she’s drooling over this stranger. ~

" Serena? Serena?" Andrew asked.

" Hun? Oh, so Andrew do you know who that guy over there is?" Serena asked.

" No, he’s a new guy. I think he just moved here today." Darien answered.

" How do you know? " Serena asked. 

" I saw he come out of his apartment. See he lives right across from me." 

" Ohh… What’s his name?"

Darien didn’t like where this was going so he said, " What’s it to you meatball head? You think he’s actually going to like you? A dumbo? Ha what a laugh." As soon as those words were out he regretted them. Excepting to see Serena in tears he was about to apologize, but to his surprise, Serena answered, " You never know."

" What? You’re kidding Meatball head." Darien said trying to get her mind of this stranger. What came next was even worse.

The stranger got up from his seat and walked towards Serena.

" Excuse Miss, but I was wondering, see I’m new at Tokyo and I was wondering if you could show me around. My name’s Nick. Yours?" The guy asked.

" Serena" She answered.

" Serena? Serena Tuskisen? Is your mom Ilene Tuskien? And your dad Kevin Tuskien?" Nick asked.

" Huh, yeah, do I know you?" Serena looked really confused.

" It’s me, Nick Starlight?" Nick said.

" AHHH! NICK! It’s you! Oh me gosh! When did you come? It’s been ages!" Serena gave him a big hug.

" I just moved here. And I’m here to stay. My dad found a job here. I knew who you were the minute I saw you! You haven’t changed a bit!" 

" You changed so much! I can hardly recognize you any more! You just have to come to dinner!"

" Sure."

" Yeah! Mom will be so happy! Tell your dad to come too!" 

" Sure, I’ll go right now and ask my dad to come. See you! And remember you owe me a tour around Tokyo!" With that Nick went home.

" So Serena, how did you know him?" Andrew who saw the whole shows asked.

" Nick? He was my best buddy! We were best friends ever since we were babies! Then he moved and we lost contact. But I can’t believe he’s back! Oh this is so cool!" Serena said happily.

" Serena! I saw that hot guy you were talking too. Who was he?" Molly asked. She had came into the arcade followed by Ami, Melvin, Mina, Lita and Raye who were all wondering the same thing.

" He’s my buddy Nick."

" Nick? Oh yeah, I remember him, he was really nice. How did he get so cute?"

" Don’t know, but he’s coming over for dinner."

" What??? It’s not fair you always get the hot guys and leave us with the ugly ones!" Molly wailed. 

Darien who hears the whole thing was white all over. 

" Andrew, I’ve got to go. Bye." He left in a rush. 

" Strange…" Andrew thought, but no one else seemed to notice the look in Darien’s eye when he left. 

 

Next Saturday.

 

The next Saturday, Serena walked dreamily to the arcade. The past week was perfect. Sometime during the week, Nick and her and gone steady. Everyone was happy for her and even her dad didn’t mind because of her good grades. Well, almost everyone didn’t mind. 

" Hey Andy!" Serena said to Andrew, she now thought of him as a big brother.

" Hey Sere! How’s it going? I heard you and Nick were going steady." He said. There was a bit of sadness in his eyes, but Serena didn’t notice.

" Oh Nick is just perfect! He kind and smart and totally hot!" Serena giggled.

" Hey Andrew." A deep voice called from behind.

" Hey Darien." Andrew said. He could see the hurt and love in his eyes.

" Hey Darien. Isn’t is a lovely day?’ Serena chirped.

" Yeah." Was the reply, " So I heard you and Nick are going out?"

" How did the whole world know about this? It’s only been a week!" Serena said.

~ So it is true. I’ve lost my chance with my angel.~ He thought bitterly. 

" Gotta go. Bye." He ran out of the arcade. He couldn’t stay any longer because if he heard Serena say one more thing about Nick he was going to cry.

" Darien wait! You dropped this!" Serena called out when she saw him drop a book on his way out.

" Hm, guess I’ll have to go and find him" Serena thought.

So she left to find him.

When she find Darien on a bench in the park his image was shocking.

Darien was actually crying!

" Eeee, Darien? Um are you okay?"

" Go away." Was his reply.

" Darien? What’s wrong? Are you hurt?" Serena was concerned.

~ What does she care? If I tell her that I love her she’ll only laugh. Besides she’s got a cute and her age boyfriend Nick now. ~

" Nothing’s wrong. Just worried about a up coming test." Darien lied.

" Yeah right! I’m not dumb you know! Now tell me what’s wrong." She demanded.

~Well, it won’t hurt to tell her about my problem without telling her that the girl I love is she. ~

" Fine, you see, this girl that I really loved just found a boyfriend. So now I’ll never get to tell her how much I loved her." 

" Gee, that’s awful!"

" I know. And I was really head over heals in love with her! Now she’s gone."

" You know Darien, maybe you should still tell her how you feel. You never know that, maybe she’ll just dump her boyfriend. You two were good friends right? It’s not like she’ll laugh at your face or anything."

" Well, we weren’t exactly friends…"

" Still, you should give it a shot."

" Thanks." Darien said.

" For what?" Serena asked.

" For listening to me."

" No biggie, well gotta go! See ya around. And here’s you the book that you dropped." She handed him the book and left.

~ Hmm, I never knew Darien could be in love…~ Serena thought.

~ Maybe I should tell her, if I don’t I’ll never know… Tomorrow. Tomorrow, I’ll tell her. ~ Darien decided.
