It’s awesome!Okay, this is pre-Mina in the first season of Sailor Moon. It’s a romanceand it should have a few parts, but not too many. Disclaimers: (standard) *I know. WHAT?! No cheesy paragraph of why I don’town Sailor Moon? Shocking, huh? *************************************** Title: Serena and Darien... together? No WAY! Part: 1 By: Mako-Chan E-mail: breeze13@hotmail.com Rated: PG-PG13 (soft pg-13 if any!) ************************************** Four girls clustered around Lita’s apartment, giggling as theywatched Raye struggle to pull off the hot wax she had applied to her leg. “OW!” Raye screeched, sounding a bit like Luna did when she caughtSerena trying to study her comic books instead of her algebra. The other four girls became hyenas at this display, causing peals of laughter to ring out from their mouths and tears stream down their faces. Raye glared, “It isn’t funny, this thing tried to rip my leg off!” she complained, sending the girls into a higher fit of laughter. “Oh, come off it, Raye,” giggled Serena, “you’re supposed to be thetough scout, remember?” Raye just grumbled a few words of profanity as she tried to scrapethe rest of the wax off her leg with out causing her too much pain. She rubbed the swollen leg where Serena had only moments ago, given her a pat on the back and a quick “here-goes-nothing” look and ripped the strip of paper of herleg. “Okay,” said Lita, her eyes twinkling, “what should we do next?” “I don’t care as long as it doesn’t involve conflicting pain uponme!” snapped Raye. “Why don’t we all study? I could help you all out, I’m fifteenchapters ahead now, so I won’t have to worry about getting too far behind,” the girls all stared at the petite blue haired girl with “are you nuts?” looks on their faces. Amy amended her words with, “I guess we could watch a movie instead.” The other girls squealed in delight, all except Raye, who was STILL trying to pry the rest of the wax off her leg without making it sting. “So, what are we going to watch?” asked Serena with mild curiosity. “How about ‘Scream’?” (AN: I know, American movie, but I don’t knowwhat the hottest movies are in Japan!) asked Lita, her green eyes sparkling mischievously, “I’m sure that Raye would enjoy it. After all, it has a clip with a song from Chad’s band.” “No way!” squealed Raye, “I get enough of it at the temple!” The girls giggled a little, and soon Raye was out-voted, three toone. “This is Mutiny!” snapped Raye, but her eyes were shining. After the movie was over, with several fake screams from the girlsat any time, they plopped onto Lita’s couch and began to talk about “scout business”... well, that was the excuse they used when Luna rushed in from the other room and asked what they were discussing. They were actually discussing just HOW cute Tuxedo Mask was. “So, who do you think he is?” asked Amy, shocking the other girls bynot knowing something. Serena sighed, whimsical, “I think it’s Andrew from the arcade,” shesaidblissfully. “It couldn’t be Andrew,” smiled Lita, “he has blonde hair, notblack, and any ways, I can’t picture Andrew as a super hero!” With that comment, Raye’s mouth tugged into a sly grin and she said, “Wouldyou have been able to picture SERENA as a super hero, either?” All the girls giggled. All but Serena, that is, who folded her armsacross her chest and pouted before saying, “Well, Raye, I wouldn’t have pictured you to be a scout... at least not as a follower, instead of leader!” She sighed, “and any ways, who would picture Amy as a scout, a person who fights?” she asked. Amy and Raye were about to protest, when Lita got between them andsaid,“Hey girls, how ‘bout a game of ‘truth or dare’ before turning in tonight?”The girls all nodded, grins plastered to their faces. “Who goes first?” asked Serena, glancing at the girls. “How about Amy?” asked Raye, volunteering the shy girl into doing something, or admitting something. “Truth or dare, Amy,” countered Lita before the girl could protest.“Um, dare?” she asked, uncertain as to which she would rather do. KnowingLita, both were fates worse than death. “Okay,” Lita grinned, a sly look on her face, “I dare you, to gonext door, knock and kiss the cute guy that lives there!” Amy’s eyes flew wide in shock as she said, “I could never, I mean I wouldn’t ever, I mean,” she sputtered. “Amy!” whined Raye, “you have to! I mean, this is forced upon you,no options!” Amy’s face flushed a deep shade of red as Serena took her cue. “I guess you could have someone else take your dare, and then theywould dare you something else,” she said, beaming. “No thanks!” smiled Amy, “I’ll take my chances with Lita’s twisteddare.” She pulled herself off the couch and left out the door, the other three girls trailing a few feet behind her poking their heads out of the door. Lita gestured to the door to the right, and Amy followed her direction and knocked sharply on the door. A young, cute, as Lita had mentioned before, guy answered the door, and Amy’s face deepened to a darker red as she leaned over and kissed him on the cheek, running into the open door to Lita’s apartment not too long after. “I meant on the lips!” Lita hissed, annoyance filling her voice. “Well, all you said was to kiss him!” said Amy, and all the girlsgroaned. “Now Amy, choose your victim!” smiled Lita. “Truth or dare.... Lita!” she cried out, startling the tall girl tothe couch. Her eyes flashed excitement. “Dare,” she countered, a smug grin on her face. “Okay,” said Amy, a sly grin on her face. Obviously she hadsomethingplanned. “I dare you to go to that guy’s house and ask him for a cup of sugar,” all the girls groaned and murmured “some dare” under their breaths, before Amy interrupted, “In your underwear!” Lita looked down at her tank top that she wore under her big sweatshirt and her undies, trying to contemplate what had made the girl get the nerve to do this to her. Again, three girls trailed to the door, poking their heads out staring at a red faced Lita. She rapped softly at the door, and the same guy answered, his facered, “Uh,” started Lita, holding out the measuring cup she had brought, “can I borrow a cup of sugar, please?” the man nodded, staring at Lita’s ensemble, raising an eyebrow. He came back with the sugar a moment later and Lita muttered a quick, “thanks” under her breath before hurrying to herapartment. “Whew!” she cried out. The other girls giggled their hearts content. Feeling safe now, Lita said, “Truth or Dare, Raye?” Raye appeared to be deep in thought before she said, “Dare, Iguess?” Lita smiled and said, “Okay, I dare you to call up Chad and ask him out ona date... and you can’t stand him up, either!” Amy and Serena giggled theiragreement to the dare, very fitting, they knew because of the shade ofhorror that ran on Raye’s face. “I guess...” she trailed off, unsure. She left to pick up thecordless phone Lita had and Lita quickly pushed it on speaker phone so that all the girls could hear it, but their giggles would still be undetected because the only microphone was in the receiver. Raye dialed her number and hergrandfather asked, “Hino residence, may I ask who you’re calling for?” Raye threw a pillow at the girls who were all ready giggling, “Yeah, grandpa, this is Raye, can I speak to Chad, I have to ask him aboutsomething.” “Of course, Raye,” they heard, then, “CHAD! PHONE! IT’S RAYE!” Raye slapped herself on the forehead at her grandfather’s display. “Like, woah, really?” they heard lightly in the background, then,“Hi, Raye, this is Chad, um, so what did you wanna like talk to me about?” “Um, yeah Chad,” Raye faltered, “I was wondering if you wanted to go to themovies or something tomorrow?” “WOAH! You mean, like a date?” he asked, stunned. The girls brokeinto peals of helpless laughter at this. “Uh, yeah Chad, a date, I mean,” Raye squeezed her eyes shut, “itcould befun?” “Woah, like totally! That would be killer, Raye! Like, see yatomorrow!” “Yeah, bye Chad!” said Raye quickly before hastily hanging up thephone. “And you have to stay for the WHOLE movie,” said Lita, wagging a finger inher face. “I know, I know,” Raye sputtered, “Okay, Truth or dare, Serena?” “Uh...truth. I know I don’t wanna do dare after seeing yourimaginative displays!” she giggled, all the girls groaned.“Okay, Serena, here goes,” Raye paused and pulled in a sharp breath, “What single guy would you want to go out with who lives here in Tokyo, but is not famous?” she asked. “That’s easy, Tu...” Raye cut her off, “Tuxedo Mask is famous, remember?” “Then And...” she began, and Lita interrupted this time, “Andrew hasa girlfriend, which means he’s not single!” she said triumphant. “Well, then, well...” her voice trailed off and she squeezed her eyes shut, wishing all of a sudden that she had chosen ‘dare’ (even though choosing‘dare’ would have been VERY ironic, considering her answer!). “And you HAVE to tell the truth!” smiled Amy, adding to Serena’spain. “Honestly?” she gulped. “Yup,” nodded all the girls. “Well, then, promise you won’t laugh!” she said hastily. “I make no promises,” smiled Lita, a smug grin on her face. “We won’t laugh,” said Amy, nudging Lita. “Lita?” asked Serena. “Yeah, yeah, I won’t laugh,” “Raye?” “Just spill it all ready, Meatball head! None of us are going tolaugh!” “Then,” she squeezed her eyes shut as tight as they would go andgripped the leather on the couch, “Darien,” she almost whispered. At his name, Serena felt an almost electric shock run through her spine, causing her to shiver. To her surprise, all the girls were silent. Then Lita dare to speak,“Iknew it.” Raye’s tone was like ice when she retorted, “Shut up, Lita, you didnot!None of us did.” “Did you say Darien?” asked Amy, still in shock. Serena stared at the three eyes on her, “Come on guys,” she said, shiftinguncomfortably, “Don’t look at me like that.” “And you were planning on keeping it a secret forever, MeatballHead?!” snapped Raye, her eyes flaring. “I just, I mean that is to say... Listen, guys, Darien doesn’t evenknow I exist, and so when he teases me, I tease him back, trying to make him think of me.” “It does make sense,” said Amy, her hand resting on her chin thoughtfully,“She’s trying to get his attention, and it really does work.” “Boy, you sure had us fooled, Serena!” retorted Lita, “We neverwould’ve found out ourselves!” “Yeah, well. If it were ANY guy, it’d be Tuxedo Mask, and you guysknowit!” she huffed, pouting a little. “Okay, okay. We get the point. Don’t worry, we’ll be VERY secretiveabout it all,” said Lita, rolling her eyes. “Yeah, I won’t tell a soul,” said Amy with a blush, “as long as youdon’t tell Greg about my feelings for him.” “Yeah, I guess I can keep my big mouth shut on this one too,”admitted Raye. Serena immediately felt safe that her secret wouldn’t leave the room. ******************************************************************** Darien walked into the arcade with confidence that he would run into Serena. She was always at the arcade after school, so it wasn’t a big dealwhen he noticed her growling over a game of Sailor V, popping quarters into the video machine and glaring menacingly at it. “Hey, Meatball Head,” he said, a smirk on his face, “wasting more ofyour money on these games... even though you know you’ll never win?” She turned around and glared at him. Baring her teeth slightly, shesaid, “I’ve won them before, Darien so shut up!” then, remembering she had forgotten something she said, “and don’t call me MEATBALL HEAD!” He laughed at her little display, and walked coolly over to the counter where his best friend, Andrew, worked. Serena whirled her chair around to stare at Darien. ‘I don’t knowwhy Ieven bother with that jerk!’ she thought, ‘even if he IS cute, that doesn’t mean that I should like him!’ Darien, who had noticed her staring at him, asked her, “What’s wrong, Meatball Head? Caught up in all my splendor?” hehad a wide grin on his face while saying it. “Actually, I WAS going to compliment you on your hair,” she lied,“but apparently you already know all about your charms, you conceited jerk!” “Aw, that’s sweet, Meatball Head,” he teased, “you think I’mcharming!” Serena’s eyes grew wide, “I DID NOT SAY THAT!” she screamed, “ANDFURTHER MORE, I DO NOT LIKE YOU, DARIEN! I HATE YOU!” Darien actually seemed taken aback at the remark. Not like him?Well, that was evident, but hate him? That was a little harsh. “Calm down, Serena,” he said, his eyes lowered to the floor, “I wasonly joking.” “I DON’T CARE!” she yelled again, then in a softer voice, “why doyou always do this to me? Do you really think I don’t have feelings, Darien?” “No, I, it’s just that, well, I,” he stuttered. “You know what, Darien,” she hissed, “you can keep your excuses, just leaveme alone! I never want you to speak to me again!” she whipped her body around sharply at that, and ran out the door. “What’s with her?” asked Andrew, delivering some ice cream sundaesto acouple. “Nothing, I think I just went too far this time,” Darien sighed, his stomach doing small flip-flops. “What DID you say to her,” asked Andrew, his eyes wide now. There is something definately wrong when Serena leaves the arcade early, he knew, and there was something even stranger about her leaving it with out the ice cream she had ordered. “I just said the usual, and she seemed crankier than usual...” hisvoiceleft him at that point. “Are you sure it was only the usual?” “Absolutely.” “Hmm...” Andrew said, his face showing deep in thought. Then he snapped, asif he got an idea, “why don’t you take Serena out on a date?” he asked witha sly grin. “Andrew! You know she doesn’t like me, and any ways, I don’t thinkshe’ll ever speak to me again!” Darien rolled his eyes. Andrew had been trying to get Darien to admit his feelings for Serena for a long time, but what if she laughed at him? “Well, what’s the worst that could happen?” interrogated Andrew. “She could laugh at me, and tell the whole city of Tokyo that I,Darien Chiba, am madly in love with a girl who is three years younger than me, and that I was insane to think that she would ever go out with me!” he stated, triumphantly. “Well, then,” said Andrew, not giving up so easily, “what’s the BESTthatcould happen?” “She would say yes, and tell me that secretly she loved me too, andthen we’d get engaged, and go out, and be the perfect couple, then we’d” Andrew cut him off, “enough already, geez! I don’t need a lifestory!” Darien laughed, “Well you did say the BEST that could happen.Besides, I wasn’t finished. Now where was I? Oh yes, we’d be the perfect couple, and then we would be voted the cutest couple in Tokyo, then we’d travel all over and,” “All right, all right! I get the point!” said Andrew, flustered, “but fromyour little display, it’s evident that the good would out weigh the bad,so...” “So you’re saying I should ask her out, right?” Darien asked. “Exactly.” “I don’t know why I ever bother talking to you, when I know you haveit through your head that my life’s a game, and that I was put here on earth to try and test out your match maker skills.” “Thank you. And might I add, that you’re my most challenging victimyet.” “Shut up, Andrew,” and with that, he smacked him lightly on the sideand got up. “You going to go ask Serena out now?” asked Andrew, smirking. “No, of course not!” Darien huffed. “Well, you’d better ask her fast, because here she comes now!” “Did you hear me say no, Andrew? I mean...” Darien paused, “SHEWHAT?!” “She’s coming right now,” said Andrew, his face beaming in triumph. “Uh...” was all Darien could managed, stunned, before he grabbed his glassand stared into it, trying to make out a reflection. He messed with his hairfor a while, trying to get it to look just right, and he saw Andrew’s face in the glass too. He was smiling, naturally. Then Serena burst through the door, “I forgot my bag, and it has allmy homework in it!” she huffed, stomping every step. Andrew nudged Darien with his elbow, “Do it,” he whispered to him.Darien noticed the look on Andrew’s face, and soon knew that if he didn’t ask her, then Andrew would make it his business to annoy him the rest of the day. “Um, Serena?” he asked, uncertain. “What do you want, Dari en?” she asked him coldly, “What, does myhair looklike meatballs today? Or perhaps you’ve decided to stray from my hair and onto the rest of my body. My arms, do they look like noodles?” Darien winced, “Um, no, actually I, I,” he let the words hang. “You, you what?” she asked, “and didn’t I make a very clear requestthat you would NOT talk to me again?” “Um, yeah, you did, it’s just that...” he paused and drew in a sharp breath,“Iwaswonderingifyouwantedtogoouttodinnermytreatan dyoucouldorderanythingyouwantedokay?”he asked it quickly. “What was that?” Serena asked, her heart speeding up. Did he justask her out or something? Darien paused and winced, “I was wondering if you wanted to go outtodinner, my treat, and you could order anything you wanted.” “Are you asking me out?” “Um, yes?” “Is this some kind of weird, deviously sick joke?” “No?” “Okay,” she drew in a deep breath before saying, “fine, but onlybecauseyou’re trying to make amends for what you’ve done to me. Pick me up at eight, here is my address!” she gave him the small slip of paper, then turned sharply on her heel and ran out the door before stumbling back in, her face red. “I forgot my bag again,” she giggled. ********************************************************************* So, how do ya like it so far?
