Author’s Note: Okay, DEFINATELY is in need of some comic relief... (send in the clowns, hehe) I want to thank Sailor Starlite, without her, this would NEVER end up on the web. I’d also like to dedicate this part to a friend of mine, (You know who you are) who’s mom has REALLY bad cancer, and she needs some cheering up. As always, disclaimers apply, and I do NOT own Sailor Moon... however, if DIC is willing to sell the rights for $25.00, I’ll be more than happy to pay for it... (hey, all I can afford). ******************************************************* Title: Serena and Darien...together?! No WAY! Part: 5 By: Mako-Chan E-mail: Breeze13@hotmail.com Rated: PG ********************************************************* Darien walked with Serena through the park. Everything was so goodto him today. ‘It’s true what they say,’ he mused, ‘everything IS that much sweeter when you’re in love.’ Hey, the birds even seemed to be singing a song. Not just that repetitive twitter, but a REAL song. ‘Now if only I could get the guts to admit my feelings...’ he sighed. He subconsciously wrapped a protective arm around Serena, she simply curled closer to him. Neither knew of their actions, they seemed to come naturally. However, in a tree sat Amy, and she was WELL aware of what they were doing. Suddenly her walkie-talkie blared, “Leader Blue! Leader Blue! Do you copy?”She picked it up and said, “Roger, Captain Apron, I copy,” “I’m Super Leader, not Captain Apron!” growled the radio, “And I wish Sherry wouldn’t have picked that name out for me! It’s so annoying! Copy!” “Enough of that, ‘Super Leader,’” sighed Amy, “I see them now, and they are definitely for each other! Copy!”“Are you sure, Leader Blue? Copy,” “Absolutely, Super Leader, they are totally into each other, copy!” “Well, then... Gather up the new recruits, Leader Blue, and meet meat base in ten minutes, do you copy?” “Make it twenty, and I will, copy,” “Have it your way, Blue Le- I mean, Commander, you’ve just beenpromoted, twenty minutes, then meet at base, over?” “Copy that over and out, Super Leader.” Amy clicked off the walkie-talkie and jumped down from the tree, Serena and Darien barely in sight. Her blue camouflage should’ve given her away in the tree, but they were too wrapped up in each other to figure it out. This was more Lita’s thing. She knew she would be Leader Green. Then she’d wear the green camouflage and be able to help more than Amy. And because Amy was promoted, she would just supervise now. She ran down the street and decided to gather the new recruits. After all, Lita and Raye would enjoy playing matchmaker... along with Molly and Melvin. “All right, so what’s the buzz, Ames?” said Lita with a skepticallook on her face, “You never wear camouflage, so please explain what it is with the new army decor?” “I can’t say much, Lita, except that you should grab your own Armygear, including walkie-talkies if you want to be prepared,” she smeared some black war paint under Lita’s eyes, “When you’re finished, come to the arcade, be there in ten minutes!” Lita mock saluted her and said, “Yes SIR!” then marched in thehouse. Amy smiled softly to herself and ran all the way to the temple. Rayewas pushed into sweeping the steps, AGAIN, and Raye immediately glanced up at the odd ‘new’ Amy. “What’s going on Amy?” she questioned. “The secret will be out in fifteen minutes at the arcade. Grab yourarmy duds, and whatever else might be useful for a ‘mission’ and go, if you want to know. We’ll be in the back room.” Raye nodded and hurried into the temple to get ready, because she knew Amywouldn’t get dressed like THAT unless it was important. Amy whistled slightly to herself as she walked towards Melvin’s house. She spotted Serena and Darien walking down the sidewalk, and she dove into a trashcan and got out her walkie-talkie again. “Super Leader,” hissed Amy, “Do you copy?” “Well, Captain Apron’s serving customers right now, but PinkLeader’s here,” it was Sherry’s voice, “do you have a reading?” “yes, they are walking down main street now, Pink Leader. I’ll fill you inwhen I have retrieved the other new recruits, over.” “Over and out,” said the talkie. When Amy looked through the crack of the dumpster, she could tellthat Serena and Darien were out of her sight. She slowly picked herself up, and crawled out of it, stepping in some week old balogna while she did. When she reached Melvin’s house, he was on the computer, drinking a vanilla with prunes shake. He opened the door and said, “Oh, hi, Amy, you look like you need a bath. Do you want to borrow some clothes?” Amy shook her head vigorously, a large sweat drop appearing on her forehead, “Actually I just wanted to give you the message that you need to go to the arcade in some duds similar to mine, and bring all the army gear you have.” She left abruptly after that, turning sharply away from Melvin’s house. Shemainly invited him because she knew if they were short a pair of walkie-talkies, he could provide them. Now to Molly’s. When she knocked, Molly answered the door and laughed a little,“Serena’s not here, Amy, if that’s what you’re wondering.” “Well, not exactly. Will you come with me to the arcade, please?” “What’s the hurry?” “I’m sort of on a deadline. Will you just put on some army scrubsand get to the arcade? It’s very important.” “Well, okay, Amy, is it a surprise for Serena?” “Sort of. Just meet me there, okay?” Amy waltzed out and raced tothe arcade, where Andrew was waiting. “You’re early,” he whispered. “I know, but I think it’s okay. Don’t worry about it, Super Leader.” “I hope you know what you’re doing, Blue Commander.” “Trust me, Captain Apron,” she giggled, joining Sherry and Rita in the back room. She knew Andrew would direct the other’s back there too as they came inside with their “uniforms” on. Slowly the crowd began to gather, first Lita appeared, in traditional green camouflage, then Raye in brilliant red camouflage, then Melvin came in with a ridiculously large box of army tenichal equipment, from “bugs” to walkie-talkies, all the way to a virtual fighting range. This would come in handy. He wore huge orange camouflage duds, and ridiculous orange war paint. “Melvin, when are you going to be in an orange place?” asked Amywith a sigh. “I don’t know, but they are neat, huh?” he said. Amy rolled her eyes, “I suppose so,” she said, glancing around.‘Melvin’s such a nerd,’ she thought, ‘I mean, the poor guy gets joshed around school more than me!’ “That’s everyone but Molly,” said Sherry, a grin fixed on her face. She wore her usual pink uniform and white apron. Lita glanced around, making her auburn ponytail swish in surprise,“What ARE we doing?” she growled, showing a fist in Rita’s face. Rita’s eyes widened in surprise, “I’m a victim here, too, Lita! Geez!” shegrumbled. “Sorry,” mumbled Lita, moving her fist to Sherry, “What are we doing here!?” she barked. “Hey, slow down, girl! This was Amy’s idea!” said Sherry, her hands raisedin front of her, facing her palms at Lita. “Ames?” she asked, looking at the mousy girl. Amy stared back into Lita’s green eyes, “Wait till Molly get’shere.” She mumbled. “Okay, Ames, but only because you’re one of my closest friends.” Amy sighed with relief. Lita could get so aggressive at times... Then Molly walked through the door in dark colored camouflage, it was almost black. “Sorry I’m late,” she mumbled, “Amy just took me by surprise.” The others nodded, and Andrew stumbled into the door and shut itsoftly, “I’ve told the waitresses to leave us alone for a while, so no one should bug us.” He said nervously. Amy nodded. Then Rita broke the strange silence with, “Guys, willSOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT’S GOING ON BEFORE LITA KILLS ONE OF YOU?!” Lita was glaring with curiosity. “Why don’t you explain, Andrew,” suggested Amy. “Why don’t you, Sherry?” asked Andrew. Sherry sighed, “Babies. Okay, we are starting operation D.A.S.N.T.,or dasn’t.” Molly looked confused, “Dasn’t?” “Darien And Serena Need to be Together,” she explained. “We need to think of a good Club Name!” chimed in Melvin. “Well, we’ve already coded each other’s names. I’m Blue Commander,Andrew is Captain Apr- I mean, Super Leader, and Sherry is Pink Leader. Now you need to pick your names so we can get started. It’s easier for the walkie-talkies.” “All we’re doing is playing matchmakers, and we have WALKIE-TALKIES?!”demanded Raye. “Yes,” stated Amy simply, “we do. That way we can spy on them andtell Super Leader if we are making progress.” “Come on,” started Molly, “We don’t even know if they like eachother.” “Yes we do,” said Sherry, “Amy’s been tailing them today, and theyhave shown the oh-so-not-subtle-ways-of-LOVE.” “Are you sure?” demanded Raye. “Yeah, Serena may like Darien, but are you SURE Darien likesSerena?” “Trust me,” laughed Andrew, “Darien’s so far gone on the girl that Ilook like Serena to him!” Everyone laughed but Melvin, “I don’t know, I kind of sort of LIKE Serena.” Molly turned to him, “Come on, Melvin, go ahead and help us. I mean, you know more about stuff, and any ways, you’ll find a girl soon.” Amy saw the way Molly was looking at Melvin and made a mental noteto get those two together later. But now, it was time for operation dasn’t! Now for a club name... “May I suggest we call ourselves Angels for Love’s First Kiss? And ALFK forshort?” she asked. “Lets all vote.” It was almost unanimous, minus the two guys who thought it was toogirly. They wanted to be called C.A.A.M. or, Cupids, Angels, And Men. But, it was too late, so they were ALFK. “I’d like to call the first official meeting of ALFK to order,”stated Sherry, “Any ideas on how to get the love birds to nest?” “Well, maybe...” said Lita. ********************************************************************* Serena had convinced Darien to show her the rose gardens he owned. Usually, he never let anyone in his private gardens, except the occasional friend who turned on the sprinklers when he was out of town. Darien had roses of every size, every shade of every color. The whole garden was a maze of rose bushes, and Darien led Serena to the center where a large stone fountain was, and a courtyard of miniature rose bushes. Serena looked at the fountain itself. It was tall, and white, and inthe shape of some bizarre princess’s back. It was more of a silhouette than a statue, you could make out the flowing dress, the head, the hair pulled back in a style similar to Serena’s, and some shapes that looked like flowers. The odd thing was, if you turned to the front of the statue, there was no face. No face at all. You could see gloves, and hands, and even bangs, but no face. Not even a nose. Serena also noted that there were no coins in the bottom of this fountain, something she had never seen before. “Darien, may I inquire about the fountain?” she asked him. “I... actually, I guess so. It’s sort of personal, but I think I would feelbetter if I got it all out in the open.” “Okay then,” she smiled encouragingly, “why is there no face on the fountain?” “There’s a story behind it. I have been having this recurring dream, there’s a princess in it, but I can only see her back side, and occasionally the glimmerings of her front body, but that’s it. I never see her face. I always woke frusterated, remembering one detail, so finally I had an artist make it. Little by little, I told him the bits and pieces about the strange girl haunting my dreams, and he’d add it to the sculpture. I never can remember her face, but I think it’s simply because she never has let me see it,” he smiled, “pretty crazed, huh?” “Hmm,” she said, her eyes widened in understanding, “Darien?” “Mmm?” he acknowledged. “Can I ask you something very personal?” “Depends on what it is. I suppose you can ask me, but I may or maynot answer.” “Oh,” she paused and drew in a breath, “Darien, what happened to yourparents?” His eyes grew dark as he recalled the tale, “I was six when ithappened, and I guess we were all involved in a really terrible car accident. My mother and father were killed, and I was lucky to be alive. My first memory is really when a doctor woke me up and told me that my parents were dead. I couldn’t even remember their faces,” he broke off, and a tear slowly ran down his cheek. Serena wanted to kiss away his tears, but she held back and whispered, “Youdon’t have to go on, if you don’t want to.” He smiled, his eyes shining from the tears in them, “No, it’s okay. I thinkit’s good for me to finally tell someone this stuff.” He took in a deep breath, and picked up the story, “I had amnesia, the doctors told me. I had no other known relatives, so they sent me to an orphanage. I spent my life there, and I kind of secluded myself from the other kids, you know? They all told me that I was lucky I had my parents until then, but I didn’t feel lucky. I mean, some of the kids who lost their parents at the age of two still had at least one memory left of their parents. I had nothing, and noone. “I worked hard, and soon I was out of there. I didn’t really do anything except study, so I managed to skip a few grades and go to college. Then I met Andrew. He’s been my best friend since then, and I’ve never really looked back. Since my first job, I had saved up every cent I had, and now that I’m a doctor, it’s paid off. I consider myself a success.” “Wow, Darien,” Serena said, looking up at him. She had tears in her eyes, he noted. ‘Serena has such a big heart,’ he thought, ‘Someday I wish we could be more than friends.’ “I want you to know,” she said, biting her lip, “that if you ever need someone to talk to, I’m here, and I hope you can say the same for me.” She smiled, and took hold of his shaking hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze, “I never knew just how strong you are, Darien Chiba, until today.” ******************************************************************* Lita shook a fist in the guard’s face, “But it’s urgent! I HAVE to talk tosee them!” The guard looked unfeeling towards the girl and said, “Did anyonedie? Is someone’s house on fire?” Lita was about to open her big mouth, but Molly interrupted, “Sir, we just have to see them, okay? No, no one died. And as far as I know, the house is still up, but it’s real important that we see them.” “What part of ‘no’ don’t you understand?” sighed the guard, “Mr. Chiba gave me strict orders to leave he and Ms Tsukino alone! He said no visitors, too! And what is it with the walkie-talkie’s you’re TRYING to hide under your shirts? And the Army scrubs? Sorry, kids, you look just SLIGHTLY suspicous to me, and for all I know, you could be trying to hold Mr. Chiba and his guest hostage while your associates try to weasel the money out of them!” Molly sighed and turned to Lita, who looked like she was about to punch the guard’s lights out, “Lita, come on, it’s not worth it.” When they had gotten a few steps, Molly whispered, “Go to the side, let’s see if we can jump down from the tree branch that’s hanging there.” Lita gave a nod that was so slight the guard who was watching them like a hawk on a mouse didn’t see it, but Molly did. When they had gotten around the corner, Molly got a boost from Litaand they climbed the large weeping willow plant. Lita grabbed a hold of Molly’s hand and lowered her to the floor of the maze. Then she whispered, “There’s no way to get back here, unless one of us stays here,” she looked down at the girl garbed in slightly darker camouflage, “You go, because you’re already down, and because yours matches the bushes better. I’ll set post here and make sure the guard doesn’t catch you, okay?” Molly nodded, “Yeah, but do you have your two walkie-talkies? I onlyhave one that goes to you, and you should have one that transmits from me, and one that goes to base, Leader Green.” “Well, Leader Black, we have to see what they’re up to and then getword from base on what to add to the romantic setting. I mean, come on, Leader Black, Blue Commander insisted that we get all tips from base where she and the three experts will be situated,” she said. “Okay, Leader Green, I sure hope we know what we’re up to here. I also hopethat we don’t get caught doing it!” Lita smiled and whispered, “Just go, and when you get there, tellme, okay?” She nodded and scurried off in the maze. Lita plucked out the pair ofbinoculars and focused them on all four defenses of the fortress (translation: the four guards in posts sipping coffee). She was sure to be hidden in the foliage an hour later, she heard a buzz on her radio, “Leader Green, do you read me?” She pushed the speak button and said, “I read you fine, LeaderBlack, do you have a reading, copy?” “No, Leader Green, I can’t get a reading. I’m having a minorsetback, copy,” “What is it Leader Black? Copy,” “I’m sort of lost in here, copy,” Lita smacked her forehead. Of course, the maze! She began to speakin it again, “Leader Black, try finding the subject. They will lead you out of the maze when they leave, copy,” “Okay, Leader Green, but this place is pretty big, copy,” “Just find your way out, over.” “Over and out, Leader Green, I’ll do my best.” Lita then resumed her post and her binoculars. ******************************************************************** So?
