The storm around her was so wild and untamed, and she was just so scared. A storm was the last thing she needed, considering how much they scared her, and considering this was one of the worst storms she had ever seen, let alone been in. She had had a horrible day on top of it. Miss Haruna just couldn’t help, but give her another detention, which she knew she deserved (she had been 15 min late that day) but that didn’t make staying after in a boring classroom all by herself any better. When detention had started it had been warm and sun shiny outside. It was just calling for the happy, carefree girl that she was to go out and play joyously letting the sunshine lighten her hair and color her skin so delicately. Of course the second she stepped outside a soft little raindrop fell on her nose and she looked up to the newly and deeply darkened sky, to see the rain begin to fall harder, and harder….. That’s just about the time when she first saw a large length of lightning flash across the sky. Lighting, it’s so deadly looking isn’t it, so powerful and cold, yet warm and strengthening. Then the pounding of thunder filled the air, it was so loud she had to cover her ears. It was right after the booming that Serena jumped about ten feet in the air and ran as fast as she could as the rain became down right blinding. It was such cold sheets of rain too. The rain seemed to hit her skin like tiny icicles slicing away at her skin as if it was paper, and nothing to worry about. Did I forget to mention that hair brained Serena, in her hurry to get to school and had forgotten her coat. Not that it would have mattered anyway, considering that that it was summer, and hardly only brought around more then a light wind breaker to keep out the rain or slight cold of the late afternoon. Boy, was Serena feeling it now, she was downright freezing, she had a feeling that she would have the worst cold after this too. In the blinding rain Serena had managed to get herself pretty lost and began to think maybe she was in a park of some kind. “ I just want to go home, I just want to be warm, I want to be full of warm food, I want to be held closely, to my mommy, I just want TO GET OUT OF HERE!!!” Serena screeched. At the sound of her own panicked words Serena ran blindly again Through the park (or at least that’s what she assumed it was, it was raining so hard she couldn’t see 5 feet in front of herself) and managed to find herself on the edge of a small rock cliff belonging to a small 10 foot Waterfalls just by the rose gardens. Before she knew it she feel over the small edge and slammed painfully into one of the sharp edged rocks. She heard a startled shuffle of feet over by a small covering in the park. Her head ached so much she couldn’t believe how much it hurt. She managed to pull her own hand up to her head and touch it softly hoping to somehow absorb all pain she felt. She shuffle she had heard had moved out from under it’s covering and moved toward her. Serena could just make out the frame of a tall slim but well built man coming toward her. She whispered softly under her breath… “Please……help me…..I’m so scared…..my head……it’s hurt……I don’t know where I am……please, help……..” Just as Serena said these words she looked down at her hand and noticed blood covering it. The site made Serena dizzy and she knew she needed help. She could feel the man helping her up and she could hear him saying something to her, trying to sooth her, though the voice sounded slightly panicked. ‘you must look frightful Serena, of course he’s panicked’ Just as she thought this she looked up to a much clearer view of the man helping her up and pulling her close to himself. Serena couldn’t help but gasp. “D…Da…..Darien?” She gulped out and then almost fell over as a surge of pain ran through her entire body. “Oh my God……Serena…..are…..are you alright, you….you need help right now!” Darien spoke out with terror in his voice. “Please…..Darien…….help me…..” Serena said weakly. Just then she fainted, loosing all her pain for the moment, and loosing herself in the warmth of his tender touch and happiness to have someone she knew there to help her. The last thought that crossed her mind as she slid into unconsciousness was simply. ‘Darien…..so close to me? Is this a dream…….I hope I never awaken…..’ ~At Darien’s Apartment~ He wasn’t even sure why he had gone to the park that afternoon, I mean, the News kept saying that the weather was going to be awful, but he just couldn’t seem to help himself. He had always loved the rose gardens, maybe because he was Tuxedo Mask, or maybe because at the funeral of his parents, there had been the deepest red roses next to where his mother lay sleeping or so it seemed. He seemed to like white roses too, for the laid next to where his father’s coffin was set. He wished he could have remembered his parents. He bet that his mother had loved red roses, and his father white, but he could only assume. He sometimes wondered if they loved him or still watched him from far above in the heavens, and smiled down on him, watching him, protecting him. Anyway, he believed that was where his love of roses began. That afternoon he had spent looking over the roses, smelling their fragrance, and wondering at their beauty. The reminded him of Serena. God he couldn’t shake her from his head. The only girl who could turn his entire well organized world into a complete mess. The soft silk of a rose reminded him of her soft skin and the soft yet alluring smell reminded him of the soft smell of vanilla that he smelled when he had come very close to her neck. *Darien* ‘She had been playing Sailor V. at the Arcade and I was trying my best to bug her as best as I could while she played and as she grew ever so annoyed at me, it brought the most beautiful tint of pink to her cheeks and face. I began laughing at her when she had been distracted by me and lost the game. I really hadn’t meant to make her loose the game, I was just using everything and anything in my power to come up with excuses to come that close to her. Her scent simply surrounded me, making me slightly dizzy in the pleasure of its scent. She looked up at me angrily and looked back at the game blushing, I guess she could see the look in my eyes. But I just don’t understand it, how can I love her. I mean, she’s 14 and me, I’m 21, and it could never work out, not to mention the whole whether it’s legal issue. Not that I would do anything harmful, I’d never take away that bright and shining innocence of hers, not for the world. Then here’s the little angel now. What happened to her? Why was she out in such terrible weather running at that fast of a speed? If I hadn’t heard her screams as she fell I might not have ever known she was there because of the horrible whether.’ She lay quietly sleeping in his apartment of all places, looking so peaceful and lovely. Darien lightly brushed away a wet hair that had been slightly covering her eyelid and smiled down on her. Her forehead was now bandaged up and her once wet cloths were now being re-washed and dried. She lay there in one of is white collar shirts (that was far too large for her) that worked nicely for a nightgown of sorts. He smiled down at her. He knew he had to get the wet clothing off of her before it made her get seriously sick, and he made sure to see as little of her hidden area’s as possible, making sure to leave her undergarments alone and covering her quickly. Now she was wrapped up nice and warmly covered in his blankets. Her hair now dry except for the slightly damp bangs, more from fever rather then the rain, lay all around her, beautifully locks of pure gold. How he ached to touch the soft treads of gold like that spun by a damsel when forced to do so by a greedy King and helped by an evil imp named Rumplestiltskin. He wanted so much to pull her frail body close to him and kiss her boldly with all that was within him, but he didn’t. ‘Wow Darien, hold on here, this is just a little girl, and sweet and beautiful …..attractive, passionate…….STOP THAT DARIEN!!!’ She hated him of course. She had only come to him because she was so scared. He was happy that he was there to help her, maybe he and she might be able to become friends…..even though he wanted so much more….. ‘Darien……..STOP IT, SHE’S JUST A KID!” He walked out of the room fearing he would lose all control and fall completely in love with her. Even though, he didn’t know it yet, but he already had…. He sat down quietly in his living room and pulled out some text books from his Law School and began his study of the laws on Property and he began to look for every loop hole the laws had…..when he heard some stirring in his bedroom. He jumped up frantically for a moment the regained his composer…. ‘Keep it cool Darien….,’ he said to himself. “Where…..Where am I…..?” Darien heard Serena say meekly from his room. ‘The poor thing, she must be so confused and frightened’ Darien thought When he reached his bedroom there was a very confused and frightened looking Serena looking in the opposite direction looking around his room in confusion. “Hey….Serena…..are you alright?” Darien said out loud. He had been afraid he might squeak as he said it. Serena turned around quickly at the sound of his voice…….her eyes widened greatly and she looked down at her clothes then back at Darien blushing brightly and the fear raised in her eyes. “Da..Darien?….How did I get here…..what’s going on, why does my head hurt? I fell didn’t I? The storm…..the rain…..falling…..Darien…..did we……did we do anything? I can’t remember…..” Darien looked back at her in surprise then understanding at her confusion. Just as his realization came to him, Serena began to waver slightly until her knees collapsed and she began to fall. Luckily Darien managed to reach her in time to catch her and pick her up lightly and place her back on the bed and cover her back up. “I’ll explain everything Meatball Head, nothing happened. You fell in the park by the rose gardens. You asked me to help you, but then you fell unconscious and I took you…..here, to my apartment. You had a temperature……and I had to get you out of those wet clothes……..” At this Darien and Serena both blushed brightly and felt the uncomfortable feelings fill the room. Serena pulled the covers up closer to her pulling them up to her neck…..the she spook. “I….I understand Darien, thank you, I’m sorry I asked such a stupid question, I know you’d never think of me like that…..I’m just a stupid little girl to you I suppose……but thank you so much for helping me, I’m very grateful. Darien smiled warmly to her and nodded. “I didn’t see anything I shouldn’t, I was as careful to see as little as possible, I didn’t want to break into your privacy.” He blushed slightly again as he finished the last sentence. Just then a flash of lightning from outside filled the room and Serena jumped and flew under the covers and began to shiver as the thunder shook the building slightly. “Serena, looks like the phones are dead, you’ll have to stay here until the storm ends, is that alright with you?” Darien asked quietly as to not scare her. “It’s alright Serena, you can come out from under there, nothing will get you, I’ll protect you, all right? Please come out.” Serena peeked out from below the blankets slightly. Her clear blue eyes looking at him questioningly. ‘why is he being so nice, he’s never like this to me……I like it a lot…..wait Serena….why would you care?’ She looked up into his caring deep sapphire eyes and pulled her head up from below the blankets. She couldn’t help but fall for his pleading deep blue eyes. “Alright Darien…..I’ll come out, thank you for rescuing me, I trust you to protect me…you’ve done so much already” Serena couldn’t believe she had said that. Darien smiled the most brilliant smile Serena had ever seen on his face. It made her so happy to see it that she smiled too, probably the goofiest smile she had ever given. “I was glad to do it Serena,” Darien said truthfully. “Now, are you hungry?” “Darien, think about the question again, am I hungry????, of course” Darien chuckled to himself and looked down over her “So I’ll take that as a yes,” he said while laughing. “Well that’s a safe bet Darien,” Serena said as she began to giggle herself. Before Darien left the room the turned to Serena and leaned over her, tucking her in once again tightly and fluffing her pillow slightly. Then he turned to head out of the room to try and make a lovely mean for his little Bunny. ‘Bunny, where did that come from???’“Wait. Darien?” “Yes Bu…..err Serena?” “Why haven’t you called me Meatball head? Not that I miss it or anything, but…..you’re being so nice to me, why?” “I guess it’s because I don’t want to see you hurt, because I care about you” Darien said all to truthfully. Just as Darien finished his last words he rushed out of the room somewhat nervously. ‘Be careful Chiba, you can’t let things like that just slip out’ Serena say back in the bed and thought happily about what he said. She smiled to herself quite pleased with what he said. She liked hearing him say he cared for her. It made her feel like something special, and warm all over. She wondered to herself, ‘why would I feel like that?’ She shook her head. ‘Must be nothing, you and Darien are enemies remember? But maybe now we can be friends……’ She lay back down and fell back asleep blissfully thinking of Darien. To be continued……. *********************************************************** Hi, it’s me Golden Usagi again I just like to say thanks for reading my first Fanfic, I was so excited to write it!
