Huh? Wha? What on earth are you doing Darien, I’m tired, I want to sleep, please excuse me!! I’m exhausted…..” Serena replied extremely annoyed as she rolled over and tried to return to her sleep. “SERENA! YOU CAN’T SLEEP!!!” Darien shouted then realized he should calm down and looked at her concern written all over his face. “Serena, you had a very hard hit to the head that allowed you to go unconscious, you can’t go to sleep because we can’t be sure it’s safe, you might have a concussion or something, please, if you’re sleepy it’s a clear sign, just stay awake, alright???!!!, please??!!” Serena looked up at him somewhat dumb founded. She thought over what he had said slowly then looked up at him and sighed slightly. ‘If he’s that worried it’s a good idea that I stay awake, I don’t like to see him so upset, it makes me feel uneasy, and makes me feel as if I was in some kind of great danger or something.’ “Alright…Darien, I’ll stay awake…..”Serena said weakly even though she felt like she was about to fall asleep any moment. “Good….” Darien breathed a sigh of relief. “I finished making something to eat, you can say its dinner since that’s about what time it is. So, are you still hungry?” “Of course!” Serena replied somewhat sleepily. “But could you please help me the kitchen, I’m a little dizzy….and so sleepy….” Just as Serena finished speaking she began to lay back down on the bed and crawl under the blankets. “Oh no you don’t Meatball Head, come on!” Darien picked her up with ease and brought her out into the dimly lit kitchen, by this time Darien had set the table and placed two beautiful crystal candle sticks complete with cream colored candles out on the table, not to mention beautiful rose designed china. ‘This must be his best china, I wonder why he set it out for me’ Serena thought to herself ‘I hope she doesn’t think this is all too much, I just want her to have a lovely dinner, and I’m so worried about her. What might have happened if I hadn’t been there in the park, or caught her trying to sleep, I don’t think I could live with myself in anything happened to her.’ These troubled thoughts ran through Darien’s mind as he looked over to Serena and smiled nervously. “Wow Darien, it looks lovely, all this, for me?” Serena replied shyly. Darien nodded slowly as he pulled out a chair from the table and motioned for her to sit down. Serena gladly excepted and sat down happily. “I was hoping it wouldn’t seem like to much, I don’t get such wonderful company very often” Darien said somewhat bluntly. ‘I can’t believe I just said that’ Serena blushed and smiled to him meekly. ‘Wow, this is so romantic……….wait….Serena, why are you saying that, remember ENEMY……E…..N…..E…..M…..Y, that’s what Darien is, you’re enemy……he’s always teasing you, he can’t even stand you, you heard him, he hardly has company, maybe he just wanted an excuse for using such beautiful china.’ Darien blushed back and nodded as he turned back to the kitchen and returned with two plates full of something that smelled delicious. “mmmmm….Darien what is it?? It smells delicious!” “Ohhh, just a little something I whipped up,” Darien said smoothly as he winked at her causing Serena to blush once again. Darien laid before her a beautiful dinner, you know, the kind that just makes your mouth water…..where you just want to run out and get your own. Here, let me explain. Before her was a plate consisting of wonderfully seasoned chicken with a side of parsley and beside the chicken lay the most tempting side of fettuccini alfredo also lined with parsley. The smell was spicy and alluring, like a strong cologne or perfume. Serena licked her lips as she looked down at the food before her. Just as she looked up, Darien was walking in yet again from the kitchen with something else. He placed on the table, what looked to be fresh crescent rolls and in his other hand he place down a pitcher of some kind of fruit juice. Balanced under his arm he held a pitcher of milk that might have spilled if he hadn’t placed it ever so quickly down on the table. Serena’s eyes widened, she hadn’t eaten since lunchtime, which must have been a long time ago because her stomach was just screaming at her to eat something. Just as Serena was on the verge of drooling Darien smiled her and gave her the nod of approval to dig in. After dinner Serena and Darien settled into the living room and just chatted mindlessly. They really didn’t know each other that well so they spent their time getting to know each other. Darien’s thoughts remained troubled, Serena needed to go to the doctor for her head wound, but the storm hadn’t stopped yet. As Serena continued to chirp on and on about Rei, Ami, Lita, and Mina, her best friends she noticed another look of concern on Darien’s face, like the one he had given her when she had tried to go to sleep before. She began to really hate that look, wishing it would leave his face, because it scared her, and made her feel uneasy. Serena stopped talking as she felt herself grow even more sleepy and began to close her eyelids again. She had just started to try her decent back into dream land when yet again Darien shook her, not nearly as gently as before. “SERENA!!! ARE YOU THERE, SERENA, WAKE UP, SNAP OUT OF IT, YOU CAN’T GO TO SLEEP, PLEASE, SERENA!!!” Darien shouted at Serena. Serena opened her eyes again and looked into Darien’s terror filled eyes. ‘Why does he care what happens to me? Am I that important to him, all we do is fight and argue, and all he ever seems to call me is meatball head, or at least until today….’ “I’m okay Darien….please, don’t worry about me, I’m awake” She said as she plastered on a fake smile. She then nodded her head trying to prove that nothing was wrong, but when she did a surge of pain ran through her whole head causing her to wince in pain, she hadn’t felt any pain before. “Ohhhh…..my head…..it’s killing me……” Serena said as she brought her hand up to her head and closed her eyes. “Looks like your head has finally begun to feel that hard hit, hold on, let me get you an ice pack for your head. Sit here and I’ll go make up an ice pack right away,” Darien said worriedly as he stood up and walked into the kitchen after her ice pack. Serena must have had that ice pack on her head for 20 minutes, but it felt more like it had been there for hours. Her head was completely numb and she felt cold all over, but Darien wouldn’t let her take it off until it had been at least 30 minutes. She sat there on Darien’s couch pouting and listening to the soft music that sounded like some kind of jazz that Darien had put on for her to listen to as he washed the dishes. ‘All I want to do is sleep, this is so boring, and I can’t stand this thing on my head……what if I just slipped it off for just a second to let my head cool down…….’ As Serena thought this Darien popped his head out of the kitchen just in time to see Serena trying to take the ice pack off her head. “I don’t think so Meatball Brains, leave that right where it is, or I’m going to make you put it on again, but this time for an hour, how’s that sound” Darien said with a half smile. Serena’s hand quickly withdrew her hand from the ice pack and proceeded to whistle innocently pretending she had no idea what he was talking about. Darien laughed softly and finished up drying the dishes and cleaning up the dinner mess. Shortly after Darien returned to the living room taking off Serena’s ice pack and bringing it back into the kitchen to place into the sink. ‘Might as well not put it away yet, she’s probably going to need it again……..’ He stated as his eyes darkened slightly and worry began to creep back onto his face. On his way back to the living room Darien grabbed a warm comforter from his bed and brought it out to her to warm her slightly chilled bones, that were chilled so by the ice pack. When he came back into the living room he found Serena had shut off the music and was busily flipping through the channels of his TV mindlessly. ‘She’s just so cute…..look at that little pink smile on her lips as she watches the channels fly by’ It was just too much for Darien, she was so adorable that he just smiled softly and watched her. Then he brought the comforter over the back of the couch and wrapped ir around Serena who looked up at him startled for a moment until he smiled a loving smile down at her. She gladly excepted the blanket and wrapped herself in it the continued her channel surfing. He backed away from her and watched her intently. After a moment or two of blissful staring he headed toward the window to take a look outside. The rain was a lot less thick, and he was sure it would be okay to drive in it if he could just make it before the rain began to torrent down again. ‘She isn’t going to like the idea of going to the hospital, I’ll try and keep her calm and just kind of get her used to the idea, but either way, she’s going, someone professional has to check out that head wound.’ “Serena,” Darien said bearly loud enough to be heard. Serena turned from the brainwashing mindless television and looked up to Darien questioningly. “yes?” “The rain has cleared up some…….and…….I think I had better take you in to the hospital to get you looked at,” he stated simply. A flash of fear filled her eyes and tears began to fill them, she knew now that she must not be doing so well, and she was a little afraid of hospitals, at least when it came to staying at one. Then she simply nodded slowly, giving in, she decided that protesting would only further his insistence on going to the hospital. “Alright….I’m ready to go I guess…..” She said quietly. ‘YES! I was so afraid she’d fight me before she’d go, but thank god she didn’t, I didn’t want to deal with that when I was so damn worried’ “Alright Serena, I’ll get your clothes, they should be dry by now, meanwhile, get the rest of the way ready, be right back” “Alright Darien” When Darien came back he found Serena’s usual hairstyle neatly replaced to the way it had been before the storm had drowned it and had made some of her hair fall carelessly from her buns. He handed her her clothes and waited patiently while she changed in his bedroom. A few mischievous thoughts crosses his mind, but he only blushed slightly and shrugged them away. He didn’t need that on his mind right now. Then Serena walked ready to go and Darien walked to his coat closet pulling out a soft brown leather jacket (his favorite) and handed it over to Serena to put on. He then grabbed another of his coats, slipped it on himself and walked out of his apartment with a frightened Serena right on his tail. They pulled up to the hospital as the rain began to pelt down once again. Darien stopped the car the rushed out of his side running to Serena’s car door, pulling it open then taking her hand and rushing her into the hospital. By this time Serena’s head was pounding and she couldn’t even think straight. Darien brought her over to the side of the waiting room and placed a comforting arm around her, and unconsciously pulled her close to him. Serena looked up at him pain crossing her every feature; it just about broke Darien’s heart. She would have normally pulled away, but she loved the way they fit together....and no one else was there to comfort her, she would have allowed anyone to hold her.....right? Darien noted she didn't pull away and smiled to himself, he loved being so close to her, it made the tugging at his heart seem bearable as long as they could stay this way....if only for a little longer......his heart screamed out to her. Most of all, he wanted to keep her safe, and let her know, he was there for her. ‘She looks so scared….so uncertain, I wish I could take away all her pain and keep her safe next to me always….but most of all…..I hope she’ll be alright……’ Darien thought to himself. The nice looking older women who turned out to be the doctor walked out into the waiting room and surveyed the room for a moment. Noticing what appeared to be a happy young couple she turned to them. “Tsukino? Serena Tsukino? You’re next” Serena and Darien both followed the doctor as she motioned them to follow to a room behind the waiting room. She smiled at Serena and told her everything was going to be alright. When they reached the room the doctor turned to Darien telling him he couldn’t come in to the room while she did Serena's check up. “She’ll be alright young man, just a few simply tests and she’ll be out of here and doing better in no time” The doctor said as she nodded and smiled to Darien and lead Serena into the room. Darien nodded but didn’t seem very comforted by her words. As Serena was lead away he was forced to sit outside the room filling out page after page of paper work. *sighs* "I hope she's right.......well, here we go with the paper work....." An hour had passed when Serena was brought out of the room. By this time she was newly bandaged and held in her hands, many little prescriptions the doctor had told her how to use to take care of herself. It turned out she was going to be fine, but she did have quite a bump on her head that need plenty of attention. "Luckily it hadn’t been a concussion, but it may have become more infected if you hadn’t treated it when you did and having her stay awake was a very good percaution and was very intelligent of you young man, I think she has her life thanks to you" the Doctor said smiling. The hospital had tried to call her parents, but their had been no luck because the storm had knocked out most of the power in the city. It turned out only a small part of Tokyo had remained with power, Darien’s side of town, which happened to be 6 blocks away from the hospital. That was why both places continued to remain with electricity. When Darien and Serena reached back as Darien’s apartment, it was apparent that the storm was going to last far into the night. Darien had tried to make it to Serena’s house so she didn’t have to feel so tortured staying with him, but he had just barely made it 4 blocks away from the hospital before the rain had become so heavy they couldn’t see the road, but they could just make out where they were to just barely make it safely back to Darien’s Apartments. They both walked in slowly, Darien took both of their coats and put them away. I wonder if we’ll survive the night without killing each other Darien thought to himself sadly. Then Serena and Darien thought, almost in complete unison….. ‘This is going to be an interesting, and very long night……’ They'd never been more right. To be continued…….. ********************************************************* Hello again everyone, Golden Usagi here, please give me all the feedback you can on my story, I need to hear something about how well I’m writing or how awful I’m writing, okay?
