Title: Strange Encounters Part: Four - Sunny's Talk with Serena Author: Y2Raye Rated: G Email: meeko@maxim.net AN: Kon'wa, readers! Thanks for staying in tune with this so long... I really appreciate it. It's my first multi-parter (this doesn't include "A Crystal Tokyo Christmas") and thanks for being patient. No, I'm not ending it now--I still have two or more parts to go! Heehee, it started out only three parts planned...it's like Stormlight's "Out of Blue", ne? Anyways, thanks to the following people for their continual support: Seriph-chan, Katelyn, Choko, and Dia. Oh, and a sidenote here--this is from Sunny Ray's point of view, okie? *~*~*~*~*~*~* "Got it. Operation: SYS is now in affect," Andy says mischiveiously (sp?). "Operation: SYS?" I ask, confused. "Operation: Say You're Sorry," Andy explains. "Oh." I nod and run after Serena. "Serena!" I call after my newly-found friend. "Serena!" The blond didn't hear me or just ignored me, either way Serena didn't acknowledge the fact that I was practically screaming her name. "Ugh," I roll my eyes and run faster after the two golden streamers. "Serena!" I catch her elbow. "Ser...e...na." "What?" Serena's voice was wavery. Her eyes glistened with unshed tears. "Oh, don't cry Serena!" I beg. Oh, please don't cry over Darien...I know he can be a jerk but, aw, don't cry! "I know he's a jerk," Serena replies. Oops...? Did I think out loud? Either that or the girl's a mind-reader. "Listen, Serena, I think we need to have a little chat. I think that someone needs to say their sorry to the other." "Tell -Darien- that he needs to apologize to -me-," Serena huffs. "Serena--" "Quit saying my name!" "Don't be mad with me, I--oh, Darien will kill me for this--Darien well, he sorta...is sprung on you. But you didn't hear that from me, got it?" Serena simply nods and cocks her head to the side, urging me on. Her eyes are no longer wet but are curious. "Well, let's go to the park, okay? I'd feel more comfortable there. What about you?" Again, Serena nods. So we take a stroll down to the nearby park, an awkward silence setling upon us. "Serena, how do you feel about Darien?" Serena shrugs and asks, "Why?" "I think it's kind of essential if you want to make things okay between you two again, if it ever -was- okay." "That's not really a question to be asking me right now..." "What do you -normally- think of Darien Hayes?" Serena sighs and glances at me, then up to sliver of moon hanging in the blanket of stars. "Quite frankly, I think he's a jerk right now. What I normally think of him..." she let it trail off, leaving my imagination to entertain me. "Go on," I urge. "I think..." she still hadn't taken her eyes off the moon. "I -like- Darien. Don't go blabbing it to him, got it?" I nod this time and wait for her to continue. "The guy is so contradictorial (AN: I have no idea if this is a word. What it means is he contradicts himself) though." I laugh slightly and grin. "I know. He can be a jerk one second and be the perfect gentleman the next." "Exactly. But I guess that's part of his charm..." I smile. "I used to have the -biggest- crush on Dar when I was in second and third grade," I blush. "Then I realized I shouldn't have a crush on my best friend," I shrug, "then I just hung out with him. Darien's a great guy beneath that dumb shell of his." "Uh-huh," Serena rolls her eyes. "Anyway. I'm glad you told me this stuff." "You're welcome," I tell her. "Ready to apologize or recieve one?" "I guess so..." Serena says, somewhat hesitantly. "Come on," I say, "I promise Darien won't hurt your feelings." "Okay," Serena says reluctantly. "But can we stay here for a while more?" "Sure." We wander aimlessly around the cobblestone paths, admiring the lake, the sky, the moon--Serena particularly seemed fascinated by the crescent moon. I heard her sigh longingly while we were leaning against the railing, gazing at the lake. "Isn't the moon beautiful?" she asks. "Yeah. I don't particularly like the night though...I'm more of a day person." "Hence the name." We giggle like junior-high girls and stare for a while longer, thinking about stuff. Finally, I say, "I think we should go find Darien and Andy." "Aww," Serena complains, "why? It's so peaceful here." "Don't you want to hear Darien apologize?" "..." "Serena?" "..." "Serena?!" I look where she used to be. She's no longer there but is running through the field and into the gardens. I sweat-drop and say, "Here we go again..." *~*~*~*~*~*~* Probably the shortest yet, but I needed this one this way. ^_^
