Title: Strange Encounters Part: Five - Andy's Talk with Darien Author: Y2Raye Rated: G Email: meeko@maxim.net AN: Konnichiwa, minna!! Thanks for coming back again and again to read this fic that originally started out as three parts. Now it's five parts already--yeesh! Anyway, thanks Seriph-chan for your support. And thankies to Katelyn, Choko, and Dia for -their- support! One more thing--this is from Andy's point of view, okie? It also takes during the time Sunny and Serena are having their talk. *~*~*~*~*~*~* I watched as Sunny runs after Serena, yelling her name (no, not Sunny's name but Serena's!). I shrugged and said to myself, "Wonder where Dar is." Then, I saw him. Sitting in the little cafe on the other side of the street. Right by the window, too, so I had a perfect view of him. I nodded and waited until I couldn't see the two girls anymore. I mosied out of the apartment building casually, maybe a bit to caual for some people's liking, and glanced both ways down the street before crossing. Hey, no sense in getting run over by a semi, is there? I approached the coffee shop (AN: I said approach...now I have "Approach the Beautiful Morning" in my head...) and gently pushed the glass door open. It jingled lightly. I spied a woman and her child coming closer to the door so, being the gentleman I am, I held it open for them. "Thank you," the woman nodded and smiled. "You're welcome," I replied, now heading over to the table where my best friend was sitting. I sit down in the chair across from him but he doesn't seem to notice. "Hey, Darien," I said, placing my hands on the table. "Darien...Earth to Darien Hayes!" "Wha...?" Darien looked at me like I wasn't from this planet and goes back to looking out the window. "Darien," I said again, getting impatient. "What?" he asked, rather annoyed to say the least. "I think we need to talk about a certain blond-haired girl you know that you were just very mean too," I told him. "Why?" Ugh, Darien and his one-word replies. "Because," two can play at that. "Because why?" A-ha! It worked. "Because I know you're totally sprung on her." Darien just blushed and looked down at the table. "Where'd you come up with a crazy idea like that? I barely know Serena Davis..." I just gave him a look that read 'you have got to be kidding me' and shooed away a waitress who was approaching us. "Darien, you don't have to play 'Mr. Innocent' with me," I told him. "I know it, alright?" He gave in and told me about Serena and what he felt for her, how they'd met, and even why he was so mean to her. He also said that he definitely wanted to apologize. "I didn't mean for those things to come out...they just came and I couldn't stop them." "It's okay Dar," I patted my friend's back. "Every one expierences this kind of stuff. It's nothing to be ashamed off. Nothing to hide." "Easy for you to say," he muttered. "You have that girl that's in your medical class that's totally in love with you. You're in love with her. It's different between me and Serena, we really aren't even friends right now." "You can -fix- that!" I all but screamed at him. "That's what I've been trying to tell you!" "Andy," he said, rather embarrassed and nervous. "Don't have a conniption fit." That's when we decided to leave the coffee shop and see where the girls could've gone. Actually, according to Darien, where the girl went. He didn't know about Sunny talking to Serena and probably have a cow if he did. Darien knew that our best friend/little sister had -the- biggest mouth in the entire world. I decided not to tell him that tiny fact that she was with Serena. "Let's check the apartments first," Darien suggested. "Want to play Apartment Tag again, eh buddy?" I joked. "Shut up," Darien replied stiffly. "Just a joke..." We ran about town, talking about where Serena could be, how Darien's business was going, how my medical school classes were. We mostly rode in silence until I suddenly pointed and said, "There's Serena!" "You're right," Darien nodded and eased the car a bit down the street so the two gi--wait a minute. Had Sunny not found Serena? Why was the blond by herself? There should be a lavendar-haired girl with ner! Oh when I got ahold of Sunny tomorrow... "Let's go," I climbed out of the car and gently closed the door. I could head a soft click on Darien's side as we both made our ways down the sidewalk. "Stay here," he said and walked off alone. "But--" I began to protest. "Stay there!" he held up his hand to stop me. I stood, mad at Darien for leaving me behind and angry with Sunny for not talking to Serena. For not making Serena want to apologize. For not making her realize how good Darien and herself looked together. Sunny Ray was going to have it from me tomorrow. I saw Darien catch up with Serena, who turned her nose up in the air, jammed her hands into her jeans, and spun around on her heel. She began making her way to the gardens of the park. I heard Darien yell, "Wait up!" but Serena just ran faster. I thought I heard a muffled "Leave me alone!" but I wasn't positive. Soft footsteps neared me and I finally felt a tap on my shoulder. "Sunny," I said, not glancing back. "Andy, I tried. I got her to admit that she likes Darien as more than a friend. Then I tried to get her so we could go find you two and...well, she ran off. I tried to catch up to her but she's too fast," Sunny told me the story. "I believe you," I nodded. "It's all up to them now. Operation: SYS closed. We can't do anything else more than what we've done already without making a big mess of things." "I hear ya Andy. I hear ya." *~*~*~*~*~*~* Heehee...this one's the same length as the other one. I didn't mean for it to happen, but I guess it's all well that it did. That means Serena and Sunny spent just as time together as Andy and Darien. Well, maybe a little more...but that's besides the point.
