I wanna thanks my lovely editors, or revisers, whatever, Ariez ( Baka Haruka!) , Anna, and Jamie! Ariez writes GREAT digimon stories, so if you're into that, I'll give you the site where she is located. WARNING! This story *completely* changes mood, at first it's really mushy and crappy, but then it gets lighter as you go on. Kikai ne? Now, I know you know I do not own Sailor Moon. Chill breezes carried the perfumed aroma of nearby roses through the crisp air, enchanting the masculine, male figure who sat upon a wooden bench, perched on a grassy slope, overlooking the choppy waters of a small lake. Inaudibly the man sighed, looking around the lovely surroundings of Tentaino Park with intense navy eyes while ethereal rays of moonlight shined upon his ebony locks of hair. His gaze ineviatially rested upon the starry canopy above. Tentaino Park was the best place to go star gazing in the Minato-ku district. Somehow through a miracle of some sort, the modest little park found a place situated away from most of the city lights, giving it's occupants a beautifully clear view of the lovely stars. But despite all of the logical reasons, the stars simply seemed to shine brighter in Tentaino Park. Throughout the seasons, people visit Tentaino Park to look at various constellations in the night. Young couples often found their way to the park to go stargazing. The simple park gave literal meaning to 'love in the air' Several couples dotted the pathways that weaved through the grassy park, enjoying the stars shining brightly in the night sky and the soft moonlight upon the lake. Laughter twitted past the lone man's ears. He looked towards a happy couple walking side by side on the dirt path nearby. Loneliness flitted through his demanding eyes as he observed the happy pair. He found his mind to be filled with wistful thoughts of a golden haired angel. One with blue eyes that reflected the heavens and their entire splendor, rosy, flushed cheeks, and a brilliant smile that could put the sun's bright rays of light to shame. An angel with a flaring temper, and caustic insults, His odangoed arcade angel. A smile embellished his blissful expression, as his thoughts led him to the memories of his angel. Memories of her sudden klutz attacks, of her bizarre appetite, and her poor academic achievements 'My beautiful Usagi' ________________________________ Usagi Tsukino strolled down one of the many worn, gravel walkways that wound through the exquisite garden of Tentaino Park. The chill night air was laden with the delicate aroma arising from the multicolored blooms. Usagi smiled as the soft perfume of a rose permeated the soft air surrounding her. She ran a creamy hand over the sweet- smelling flower. Inhaling deeply, she lost herself in the abundant fragrances surrounding her. Unbidden, memories flooded her mind. Black, dark black, darker than obsidian, as shiny as a raven's feather, wispy black strands of hair that fell haphazardly over a strong, commanding brow. Straining to touch two turbulent blue eyes framed by long, dark lashes. Blazing eyes that plunged to the depths of an ocean abyss that glinted like the sunlight upon a still lake. Eyes that held mystery and unknown locked in their burning core. Eyes that had so often contained mockery and conceit. . And the strong smell of rose. The scent he carried with him always. The scent she had so often smelled when briefly trapped within his embrace, after a horrible bought of clutziness. Usagi sighed '*Briefly*, I wonder what would happen if everything were different. If we were *nice* to each other for once. . Maybe I should be nice to him, and see what happens' Annoyingly high-pitched laughter interrupted her train of thought. Usagi spun around towards its origin, only to see a couple enthusiastically and unappropriatly showing each other their, rather passionate, affection. Red stained her pale cheeks 'Perhaps I should go outside' ___________________________ The lone man looked to the stars as his mind pondered every heavenly aspect of his tenshi odango. A foolish smile still spread out upon the relaxed planes of his handsome face. 'My perfect little Usa' As quickly as it had appeared, his good mood disappeared, irony replaced the dazed expression in his eyes. 'Hardly *mine*.' the man smiled bitterly 'Why would she even bother with me?' 'How could she get to me so easily, how could she get to the icy Mamoru Chiba's emotions? All those years of ignoring my emotions hardly seem to make a difference, I don't think anything could affect my feelings for her' He let loose a bark of bitter laughter, then looked sadly down to the verdant grass that grew copiously around the bench. He spoke outloud, his head tilted towards the stars "I saw her and something just hit me. And despite all my attempts to push it back, her beautiful visage accompanied me throughout the rest of the day." Mamoru sighed, hoping to ease his aching soul. Slowly he swung his head up to gaze at the panoramic beauty of the starry sky. "I came here to look at the stars, not moon over a girl like a lovesick teenager" he muttered. Something struck him '*Love* sick? Am I *lovesick*, am I in love?" Inrcredulous, he pushed the thought back into the nooks and crannies of his mind, leaving it for another day's contemplation. "I'm not a very emotional person, how could I know what love is? How would I know anything about loving Usa?" The shaky tones of his ,usually smooth and assured vioce, only made him all the more nervous. Fear crept into his heart ' Even *if* Usa did return my feelings, how in the world would I know how to show her my affection?' His heart insisted he felt more for his beloved Usagi, then he would care to admit. Trembling,he reached for the black binoculars laying beside him on the wooden bench. He placed them over his eyes, adjusting the focus ever so slightly to get a better view of the celestial bodies. 'Might as well start with Usa-er-Ursa Minor' Mamoru stood up in order to fully scan the sky for the seemingly elusive constellation. (:Just in case you don't know, Ursa Minor is the little dipper, Ursa Major is the Big Dipper:), his concentration fixated completely on the midnight sky. 'It's such a clear night, the stars seem to stand out more in the sky, really beautiful' Mamoru sighed heavily "But not as beautiful as my Usagi." Mamoru heard a soft sigh, and supprisingly realized that it was his own. "I wish she were here" A quote from an old English class flew to his pursed lips. His voice barely heard over the chirping crickets "When stars illume the sky, I gaze upon each orb of light, And wish with every will and might That thou wert by. " A voice, like the twinkling of elated bells, spoke quietly from behind him "Sugoi, that's pretty. Who is it by?" Startled beyond rational thought Mamoru jumped around to face the intruder of his peaceful solitude.'It's her' There stood his angelic odango atama. Even the shadows of the night could hide her beauty, haloed in the splendor of golden hair. "Odango, what are you doing here?" Despite his attempt to sound scornful, Mamoru's vioce shook. Frustration flited through his mind at the recognizable tenderness in his own vioce. Mamoru braced himself for yet *another* bitter diatribe from this angel. None came. "I just felt like taking a walk through the rose gardens." Usagi let out a heavy sigh " You know, just to clear my mind." she pointed a slender finger towards the origin of the aromatic perfumes wafting through the air. "Sate, that poem was really nice, where did you hear it from?" Mamoru was shocked, his cruel guise crumbled, and he found himself without a mean word to throw at her. So he stuttered the simplest reply he could utter "I heard it in my eighth grade English class, I forgot the author" Usagi nodded, her nose wrinkling in distaste "I can usually remember the poems, just not the dead guys who wrote them" Mamoru chuckled nervously at her expression, his mind grasping for a rude comment, a mean gesture, anything that would make her go away, anything that would make those twisting knots in his stomache go away... "You like poetry?" he scoffed Usagi chose to ignore his disgusted tone, keeping her vioce sweet "Some of it, the stuff that I can understand. I like it when the poets play with the words. They sorta make them shine." Usagi shrugged "I never thought *you* would be one to appreciate the art of poets, more of the art of video games" Mamoru commented Usagi pushed away the anger beggining to rise in her stomach "Well, that's always my number one hobby, but I like to have backups" she joked. Mamoru shook away his puzzlement, and focused on formulating another cruel statement. "Too bad those backups aren't useful in the *real* world. But for one who spends her life with her head in the clouds, it's no suprise" Usagi's obstinance began to decade away into anger, desprately she clung to her strong will, forcing herself to maintain her sweet demeanor.'I WILL be nice!' "The sky starts at your feet.Think how brave you are to walk around" Usagi smiled charmingly, victory flashing across her light eyes. Mamoru caught his bedazzled mind away from her alluring beauty. "You? Brave? Foolish was the term I was looking for" Usagi glared "You have an attitude problem Mamoru-san. What the world needs is more false cheer. And less honest crabbiness" the warmth in her vioce was quickly receeding. The hurt from Mamoru's words began to chisle at her resolution. Cold icy slivers seeped into her heart, chilling the thoughts of him that had so recently warmed it. Mamoru grinned broadly, sarcasm written across his handsome features. His blue eyes held the guise of spite. "What the world needs is less Odangoes like you" Usagi could feel her resolution slipping away into a masive sea of hurt, and the desire for revenge. Hateful words weighed on her tongue, dying to be released upon the man. Silently she walked over to the bench Mamoru was on and sat herself at the opposite end. Considering the small length of the bench, there wasn't much space between the two. Nervousness gained fast rule over Mamoru. His stomache churned, his palms began to sweat, his mind raced. His arms ached from the strain of refraining from wrapping the girl in his embrace. His hand itched to bury itself with the mass of her golden hair. Mamoru gripped the egde of the bench tightly in an attempt to quell the ridiculous impulses. His glanced at her illuminated profile through the corner of his eyes. Tender apologies rushed towards his stubborn lips as his mind puzzled over her peculiar attitude. 'What's with her? No insults, no Mamoru-baka's, nothing' His mind snapped from his heavy contemplating 'Nothing's wrong with her, right?' His mind and heart battled. His concerned gaze studied her features more lengthily, her innocent beauty aglow in the pale moonlight. Mamoru forgot himself and impulsivly gave in "Why are you being so nice Usagi?" he asked. Usagi coul have danced. No disgust, no contempt, just a simple question. Her pause worried Mamoru, all panic and nervousness washed away with a tide of concern. "Daijoubo ka?" Usagi was stunned 'He sounded... concerned, even...even worried. Mamoru Chiba is worried about me?!' Turning, she smiled at the man "Daijobu Mamoru-san, arigato" Mamoru smiled in answer to her happy expression. His mind grappled with his desire to remain kind towards her. Despite the wellspring of frightning emotions that her presence brought on, he wanted to have her close to him. Usagi looked up at the clear sky "So what are you up to Mamoru?" "I came here to stargaze" Usagi nodded "Hai, it's really nice tonight isn't it" Her sigh cut through the still air. "I don't know any of the constellations, so I really don't stargaze that much" Mamoru looked at the wistful expression across her face "Oh, sate, I could show you a few " Delighted suprise lighted Usagi's pale face. "Really?" she asked, her vioce rising several octaves. Mamoru grinned at her show of enthusiasm. "Hai" Mamoru turned his head to search the sky for a familiar constellation, his movements causing numerous black locks to fall across his forehead. Quickly Usagi brushed them away, her warm palm barely caressing his cool forhead, fire on ice Shakily Mamoru formed a smile "Arigato" Light flashed through his oceanic eyes as they seized a familair constellation. Quickly he raised a tanned arm to point out his discovery. "Do you see that buch of stars right there?" Concentration filtered into Usagi's bright blue irises as she scanned the heavens near the area he pionted to. Slowy he crossed the distance between him and her, settling himself right next to her petite frame. "The ones that make a Y shape." he informed Usagi's eyes searched the night sky. "Iie, where are they?" Mamoru heaved a sigh and took her own slender arm in his hand, pionting to a small patch of satiny sky. "It's right there" Usagi could feel her pulse race. The strong scent of roses and spice encompassed her senses. His firm grip gently cradling her arm, sending waves of warmth through her. Snapping out of her short daze, she focused on the sky. "Oh I see it!" Usagi giggled "What's it called?" Mamoru smiled and brought her arm down to rest at her side, much to Usagi's disapiontment. "That's cancer,the-" "Crab" Usagi finished for him, looking impishly into his eyes. An astonished grin spread across the tight planes on Mamoru's face "Hai, how did you know?" Usagi blushed and looked down into her lap. "Oh, it's this American thing, oya ma, uh... it's like a bloodtype or something... you know? Usagi groaned a his look of confusion. "It's my ... horoscope, hai, my horoscope. I read about it in a magazine." Mamoru shook his head in distaste "I'm not really interested in that kind of thing" "Oh, I don't take it seriously!I just do it for fun" Usagi laughed "You see, it's really a bunch of crud. But it's still fun" Mock seriousness lit Usagi's face. "That is, unless you're an onjisan, like you Mamoru" (Onjisan means Grandpa) Giggling, the girl jumped off the bench, barely avoiding Mamoru's vengefull hands as he lunged at her. Bursts of laughter plaughed his ears as he fell in a heap on the ground next to the bench. Smiling, Usagi stuck her tongue out at the young man attempting to rise from the grassy ground. "Just wait!I'll get you back for that remark Usagi" came his disgruntled remark. The giggling girl burst into a fit of laughter "You?! Mr. Onjisan ? I think not" Usagi gasped for breath "Why don't you sit down and rest your poor aching bones?" Mamoru glared daggers as he managed to rise from the ground. Usagi backed farther away from the fuming man, closer to the gradual decline of the small hill they were on. With lightning quick movments, Mamoru tackled Usagi, sending the two toppling over the side of the hill A mass of arms and legs rolled down the hill, finally coming to a rest at the bottom. Usagi giggled as Mamoru tried to escape from their entagled embrace, his clumsy movements only tying the two up even more. "Poor Onji-sama, did you hurt your back? Daijobou ka?" Laughing, she tried to free her pinned arm out from underneath Mamoru's chest. Abruptly Usagi's laughter stopped as her hand pressed on Mamoru's chest, her long tapered fingers barely feeling a rapid pulse beneath the cotten of his shirt. Usagi blushed and looked up into his eyes. Mamoru felt the world dance around them. Her lithe body was pinned and tangled with his, her hand resonating warmth as it rested over his speeding pulse. A haze seemed to spread throughout his mind, urging him to simply close his eyes and submit to the overwhelming desire to kiss her. 'What would it be like to kiss those soft lips?' Suddenly Usagi managed to pry herself away from their tangled embrace and pulled herself into a sitting position. "Gomen nasai Mamoru-san, but we were quite tangled up for a minute there." Mamoru laughed "Hai, we were" Usagi glanced at the hill " I remember when I was little, I used to roll down hills like that with my brother. We would have races to see who could get to the bottom first." Usagi grinned "I bet I could beat you" Mamoru laughed, his vioce carefree "I hate to disapiont you, but we, I mean *I* am too old for games like that" "You're just saying that because you know you'll lose" "You're right, I *would* lose, I wouldn't be caught dead rolling down a hill" Usagi stood up "I bet you'd lose if you tried! You're probably afraid" Mamoru pulled himself up next to her "I could win if I tried!" he insisted Usagi folded her arms across her chest "All talk! I bet you'd fall on your face" "Don't mistake me for you Odango!I would beat you" " Hah! Onjisan, you couldn't beat my grandma!" "But I could beat you" "Lets see about that!" Usagi cried as she ran off up the hill. Mamoru tore off after the girl. ______________________________ A much more breathless Mamoru and Usagi sat at the bottom of the hill, thirty minutes later. "See...I... told...you...I'd....win" Usagi panted Mamoru manged a wheezing cough "Hah! You....only won... a few of them. I...won the most" Usagi choaked "You... couldn't beat....me in a ....game of rock...paper...scissors" Mamoru scratched his arm vehemently, glaring at the limb "Darnit, this grass itches" he muttered as he scrathed the other arm. Usagi giggled, scratching her knees . Realizing what she was doing, she furrowed her brow "Hey, you're right, it is pretty itchy" Mamoru rubbed his reddening arm "This is getting pretty insuferable" The blonde girl nodded in agreement while scratching the length of her legs. "UGH!!" she jumped up "I can't take this!" she cried, while briging up her knee to scratch it. Mamoru dug into his tan arm with his nails "Stop itching!" Usagi commanded her knee " This is all your fault Mamoru" The man looked up at her in shock "All *my* fault?! How in the world is it my fault?" Usagi looked at him as if the answer was obvious "If you didn't beat me all those times, then I wouldn't of kept on insisting we race again so I could beat you!" Mamoru sputtered indignance "Wh-what?!! This whole thing was your idea in the first place!" A frown creased Usagi's face "You're supposed to be smart, you were supposed to stop me" Mamoru stood up to face her "Why do *I* have to?" "Because I can't stop *myself*!" she cried, while scratching both knees at the same time "This is probably from the combination of our sweat and the rough grass pollen" Mamoru noted "Like knowing *why* we're itching is gonna help us stop" Usagi scoffed "Well, Mamoru, since you're the smart one it's your job to figure out how to stop this itching" Usagi complained, turning away from him and the loathsome, grassy hill. "You're pretty smart yourself, why don't you think of something Usagi?" Usagi whirled around to face the man. "*You* think *I'm* smart?" shock and disbelief was written all over the blonde's face. Mamoru sighed , giving his arm one last futile scratch. "Hai, Usagi, you're a pretty smart girl, you just don't apply yourself to school. There are a lot of smart people who don't do well in school. Your bad test scores just show that you don't want to spend the time studying" Usagi glared at him "Hypocrite! Why'd you make fun of me then?!" "I-I don't know, I just, it was the only thing I could think of to say." A starled laugh erupted from Usagi's throat "Iie, Mamoru, it seemed to me that you had A *LOT* to say, a little *too* much in fact. It's not exactly a privilage to be insulted by the Great, High and Mighty Mamoru Chiba. Despite what you might think, there were times when the things you said hurt me a bit, well, maybe a little more than a bit.... maybe a lot" Usagi's strong sopranic voice cracked with pent up emotion. Her glossy eyes dropped to the ground, in attempt to push back unwanted tears Impulsivly she reached down to scratch her leg once more. Suddenly she felt herself in Mamoru's strong, encompassing embrace. His strong arms compulsivly tightened around her form "Gomen ne Usagi". Gulping, he stepped away from her. His hand reached up to caress her cheek, ignoring all the panicked affects of her nearness, and the itching sensations, he leaned forward to brush his lips gently across her smooth cheek. Usagi was at a loss for words. Mamoru pulled back, and looked into her heavenly eyes, sorrow, and regret filling his own. "Usagi, never, in a million years, would I want hurt you in any way. I just never thought...Usagi, you *do* mean... a lot to me...despite, what you may think. I just.... have a hard time expressing it" His confidence lost, Mamoru pulled his eyes away from hers, to look down at his feet "I just want you to know.... that you are...important, to me... even if it doesn't seem like it" Absentmindedly he rubbed his arm. "I mean, who else will let me tease them without hitting me?" He joked, atempting to wriggle out of the uncomfortable moment. Usagi could feel a blush rise to her cheeks while her heart did several startling jumps within her chest. "Mamoru.... you're important to me too" Suprised, Mamoru chanced a look at her face " Really? You don't hate me?" Usagi laughed "Iie, no such luck, Mamoru-san Mamoru could feel his heart pound at his ribcage Hesitantly he gazed into Usagi's eyes. Heavenly lapis met bewitching navy. Warm tingling bolts of electricity raced through their veins. Usagi could feel her knees grow weak as Mamoru pulled her closer into his arms. The park and everything else vanished. It was just the two of them, together. Slowly, he leaned closer to her, his mouth only inches away from her own. Usagi shivered as she felt his warm breath upon her lips. Bursts of cool water collided with the two. With strangled cries, they ran out of the line of fire, water dripping from faces. Usagi groaned, pushing a wet curl from her face, the clicking of the sprinklers echoing bitterly in her ears. 'So close!' Turning, Mamoru looked upon the rotating arches of water cascading down upon the hated grass. 'Why??' The besodden man looked towards his equally soaked companion, A laugh made it's way from his throat. The poor girl was drenched, her loose shirt clung to her back and her skirt, weighed down by the water, swished madly about her knees. Usagi sent a hearty glare in his direction while wringing the water out of a long pigtail. "What? You look just as bad as I probably do" Mamoru chuckled "My lovely Odangoed one, you look very pretty, I assure you" Usagi stared at the insane man. Hurridly, she walked over to him and pressed her hand to his forehead. "No, no temperature. Did you hit your head on a rock when we were racing down the hill Mamo-chan?" Smiling, Mamoru reached up to grasp her hand in own. Usagi gasped as he brought it to his lips and brushed it with a gentle kiss. "Now I know for sure that you're insane ,Mamoru" she giggled Mamoru dropped the precious hand and chuckled. "Very funny Odango" Usagi hit him squarly on his shoulder "Don't call me that" Mamoru grabbed her hand, and held it to his chest. "What would you prefer o' mighty one?" He brought her hand to his lips, and delicately kissed the tips of her fingers Mamoru grinned evilly "You wish for another cutsy nickname?" Usagi glared "Odango Atama is more annoying then 'cute'" "I beg to differ!" Usagi's eyebrow arched delicately " Hah! I can't think of any that would be worse" Mamoru's eyes glinted at the challenge "Howabout some of those American nickames? Muffin?Cupcake, Fluffy..." "Fluffy's a dog's name!" Usagi interjected "All the better! As I was saying... Muffy, Snoogly Poo,Intsy Woo, Pumpkin, Sugar Pie, My fuzzy wittle bunny!" Mamoru furrowed his brow in mock concentration " That's it! From now on, you are my fuzzy wittle bunny, or Usako" Usagi sucked in her breathe and tried to regain composure. "You baka" Mamoru melodramitically pretended to be offended " Well! Here I am, being nice, giving you a sickeningly sweet nickname, and you stick with the same old, tired, 'Baka'. Usagi flashed a toothy grin "Fine, you asked for it Mamo-chan" "Excellent! Now we have the power to make people sick with just a few simple phrases, we'll be exiled from Tokyo in no time" Mamoru wrapped a strong arm around Usagi's waist. "Well *Usako*, what do you have to say about our impending doom?" Usagi pulled away from him," I say....tag! You're it!" laughing, she tapped him on the shoulder and darted away into the sea of sprinklers. "Usako, you couldn't beat me at rolling down the hill, how do you think you' re going to beat me at tag?" Mamoru yelled, tearing off after the laughing blonde. Usagi's laughs echoed through the park. "All those morning marathons to school paid off, Mamo-chan!" Mamoru grunted, he was soaked, more so than before. Jet streams of water frequently collided with his body as he attempted to catch the girl, who was way ahead of him. Usagi glanced back to the wearied man "Oya ma,Mamo-chan! You're out of shape! Better start excersicing or else you're gonna get fat!" Mamoru paused and checked his stomache. "You're one to talk, you human vacum" he shouted, and resumed his chase, running even faster then before. Suddenly, his foot slipped out from underneath him. Mamoru gasped as he flew backwards. Pain lanced through his mind as he felt something hard connect with his head. Dizziness flooded through his senses as darkness engulfed his vision. ______________________________ Pain. The sensation rushed through his mind, slashing cruelly through the darkness ruling over it. The sweet whisper of potpurri wound it's way through his concious, easing his disoriented senses.(:Remember the S movie minna? :) Comforting warmth soothed the throbbing at the back of his head. His senses picked up the feel of a pillowy body beneath his head. Timidly he opened a heavy eyelid. Worried blue eyes swam into his vision. Mamoru groaned, his hand winding back to rubb a large bump on the back of his head. Usagi gasped "Mamo-chan?" "Hai?" Suddenly, he was hit, rather harshly, by the back of Usagi's hand. "Baka! Don't scare me like that!" Reality slammed into the groggy man with another slap. "How could you just *collapse* there, leaving me to *drag* your ungrateful rear up this STUPID hill, just so you wouldn't have to regain conciousness in the midst of a bunch of sprinklers!" Mamoru looked around, and realized that he was indeed back on that bench, laying in Usagi's comfortable lap. "And then I got really worried 'cause your head just seemed to be a rock magnet while I was trying to get you up here, I mean every step I took, it seemed that you were inventing new ways to hit your head with something" she continued breathlessly "And then when I finally got you up here I just cried, because you look SO awful and I was so worried I'd have to drag you through the city, trying to get you to the hospital, and that rocks wouldn't be the only thing your head would slam into" Mamoru smiled. "And *now* you're smiling at me, looking like the baka you are!" Usagi huffed, pushing Mamoru off her lap and into a siting position. "Arigato Usako" Mamoru whispered, grasping her indignant face in his hands, and turning it towards him, "I appreciate it" Usagi looked breathless "Well... I...it was the least I could do...I mean after all..." Mamoru smiled and brought her face closer to his own "Just how many rocks did you make me hit anyways?" Usagi's embarressed reply was quickly halted, as Mamoru brought his lips to hers. Usagi felt her world melt into happiness as he just barely brushed her lips before pulling away. "Usako" He breathed, his face barely centimeters away, his blue eyes burning with an unreadable emotions. Usagi blushed as she felt her stomach flip and twist agonizingly. She tried reply, but her mouth didn't seem to work, it was still tingling from the feel of his lips upon it. "H-hai?" he voice was raspy and barely audible. Mamoru looked away. He found himself trembling And suddenly, Mamoru found that he was afraid. To his own suprise, not only afraid of Usagi turning him down, but also afriad of her not. And the poor man was even more astonished to find, that it was more the latter then the former. 'Oh Kami-sama' Mamoru looked at Usagi. His eyes drank her in. Her hair was wet, and falling out of its customary odangoes to cling to her face and stick stubbornly, to her slender neck. Her eyes were suspiciously bright and rimmed with red. And her clothing was ruffled and muddy. She was a soaking mess. But for all the world, with the moonlight glittering upon her wet hair, and the blue in her eyes sharply contrasting to the red around them, Mamoru thought that she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Mamoru inhaled sharply. He felt like a man caught up in a flood. A flood that he couldn't understand or stop. He was overpowered, and driven by the force and ardor of his emotions. And Mamoru knew that he loved her, really truely loved her, ever since that fateful test paper. He couldn't deny it, and now, he didn't want to. And he knew that it wasn't good enough to keep her at a safe distance, where she couldn't get close enough to hurt him. 'I'm not afraid of loving her anymore' "Will you come here with me again, tomorow? I mean... we could pack a picnic, or rent a rowboat... or something..." Usagi gasped "L-like a ...date?" Mamoru smiled shakily "Sate, that would be what I was thinking of" Joy blossomed within her, filling her so completely. But something halted it. Puzzlement overtook her "Doushite?" Mamoru's heart froze, the sparkle in his eyes died. "I mean...why....why are you asking me?" Mamoru smiled in relief His lips brushed her ear "Because I love you"he paused as he heard her sharply breathe in. " You fuzzy wittle bunny" Usagi gave a shaky laugh "I like Usako better, Mamo-chan" He chuckled and turned his head to meet her brilliant eyes "So do I" His arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her lithe body against him. "So howabout that date?" Usagi rested her head on his firm shoulder "Just make sure you wear your bullet-proof vest when you come to pick me up" she commented. Mamoru tightened his hold on her. Usagi sighed and bought her head up to meet his eyes. "I love you too Mamo-chan" Happiness diffused through his intense eyes. Usagi felt an encompassing warmth spread through her. Mamoru leaned down and captured her lips once more. Usagi gasped as his mouth gently caressed hers. Overwhelmed with the heated emotion bubbing up inside her, Usagi wrapped her arms around Mamoru's strong neck, and buried her fingers in the silky strands of ebony hair. Mamoru smiled, barely, against her lips, enjoying the wonderful sensation of her feminine frame, wrapped in his arms. Slowly he lifted his mouth away, and nuzzled his head in the crook of her neck. Usagi came out of her daze as he pressed soft kisses into her neck. And the happy couple realized, with a peaceful sense of certainty, that the world was breathtakingly lovely, as they sat under the celestial glow of the stars. Because I was your soul's happiness, Joy ruled the day, and elation the starry night Bad, terrible, or catastrophic?
