Title: There She Goes [Short Story] Author: W. Bymeeh Rating: G E-mail: jhyunl@aol.com Website: http://members.tripod.com/jayhyun/sm/ *Author's Note: I call this is a lyrical story...inspired by and integrated with the song of the same name...the events fit with the song lyrics...there's no real plotline, rather just a peek into a character's mind...Of course it's a first season fic, so you get to see who Darien's thinking about *all* the time! *Disclaimer: The song, "There She Goes" by Sixpence None the Richer and the characters of Sailor Moon do not belong to me...*singing* There She Goes A vision of white, swirling in the mist. A voice laughing out, calling his name...sweet words of love spilling from her lips, for him. The loneliness dissipated...he was enraptured by her presence, caught up in the glory of seeing his princess once again. The moon shone brightly behind her...so brightly he could only see her beautiful profile...marred only by the fog that drifted in and out, blocking him from seeing her completely. She reached out a hand to him, as if trying to touch him...and he stretched out his arm to touch her. But they could not. He felt as if the world's most precious prize were at his fingertips, so tantalizingly close...and yet still out of his reach. 'Find the Silver Imperium Crystal...' a sweet voice called out in the falling darkness as the light dimmed. 'So we can always be together...' Darien's heart ached to be close to her, to discover who she was...his princess. Dizzily he reached out to her, finding nothing, left only with the unfamiliar desire to be with her always. There she goes There she goes again She calls my name No one else could heal my pain And I just can't contain This feeling that remains Her beautiful blue eyes shone with gratitude for him. So strange that she was thankful for *his* help, when all he did was tell her to believe in herself. She was so strong, Sailor Moon...and yet, she needed him. He swirled his cape around him and watched her turn, with new determination, back to the enemy. With unconscious grace she swung her moon wand in a wide arc above her head, and power naturally flowed from her to blast the enemy. She shone as brightly as a star in the dark night, once more the victor against those who would harm her world. He gazed at her, hidden from her line of sight, but still looked longingly at the brave girl who for some strange reason in the universe...depended on him. And yet she was the one who was so much more special than he... She greeted her friends with a victorious smile on her face, and then she glanced around. His heart jerked, knowing she was looking for him, and sadly watched the light in her eyes dim a little. And then she and her friends made their own exit, with Sailor Moon lagging before she leaped upon a nearby rooftop. He caught the wistful look in her blue eyes and sighed as she then disappeared from his view. So few moments, they had together... There she blows There she blows again Pulsing through my veins And I just can't contain This feeling that remains She angrily tossed her two long streamers of golden hair behind her, and turned away from him in an angry huff. He managed to catch a glimpse of her blue eyes, sparkling with anger at him, and he chuckled softly. She refused to look at him, and he rose to the challenge with a taunt guaranteed to make her face him once again, granting him another view of her eyes...so filled with life and light. She exploded, and Darien was a little taken back by the effect he had on her, but was secretly pleased that he had at least some place in her life...so full of friends, family, fun...love...unlike him. Trying to hide the inner pleasure he felt at being able to get a rise out of her...the klutzy, light-hearted, beautiful meatball head, who always had a smile for everyone...well, almost everyone. Unable to keep the grin back much longer, Darien forgot about his all-consuming mission...his duties as Tuxedo Mask...the princess he couldn't reach...the heroine he wished he could help further...forgot it all as he lost himself in an argument with a teenage girl who looked like she wanted to strangle him. There was something about her...she had just worked herself into his head, and refused to leave. Images of Serena laughing, having another klutz attack, chattering away excitedly with her friends filled his mind...and stayed there. There she goes There she goes again Racing through my brain And I just can't contain This feeling that remains He had never felt this way before. Every time he was in the presence of one of them...whether it was in a dream...or when fighting a youma...or when having another shouting match...he felt content. It was only when he was apart from one of them that the sadness that always hovered at the edge of himself dashed forward once again. A princess, a heroine, a crybaby...they all had the common knack of confusing and distracting him from all else around him...and yet he felt the strangest tie to each of them. As if each were a part of his life, his heart. And always, a feeling of longing for her. There she goes There she goes again Chasing down my lane And I just can't contain This feeling that remains ******************** *Note: I mixed up the verses to better suit the story, and deleted a single line that didn't fit really well. =) I love this song, it's so sweet! If you're curious about who "her" is in the last line of the story (besides the song)...it's open to interpretation. =) Oh yeah, I am *not* one to leave stories hanging...but "Forget I Said That" is written! It's all done! And I don't want to type it up! Wahhh...be patient, hehe. W. Bymeeh jhyunl@aol.com http://members.tripod.com/jayhyun/sm/
