The Softest Snow FlakePart 2moonklutzmoonklutz@yahoo.comRat: G The Softest Snow Flake Part2 Serena walked away from the hill quickly. ‘Oh man… why did this have to happen now? Now of all times! ARRGGHHH!’ she screamed mentally. ‘I can’t let anyone else find out… the past is too complicated, to horrible for me to explain… The death of our friends, our family, our selves. I couldn’t stand to see them so sad… She sighed and turned the corner to the café. She stepped inside, removing her mittens and smiling at the warmth. It was always warm in the café. Warm and comforting. She ordered a vanilla milkshake and closed her eyes, deep in thought. Could she erase his memories? But she would have to use the crystal, and Ami would catch the readings on her computer, and then I’d have to erase all their memories and the nega verse would find out…. Serena sighed deeply. ‘Shit.’ The thought paused for a moment. ‘The snow is so beautiful…’ He closed his eyes and concentrated on her. He could usually find her with his mind before his eyes; after all, he had been using it to ‘accidentally’ bump into her for a long time… If a day went by when he didn’t get to see her smile he felt as though he had missed out on something and there was an aching sadness inside him. The only thing that seemed to be able to fill that sadness was her, Serena. The moon princess in his dreams eased it a little bit, Sailor Moon a bit more, but Serena… she was something special. He felt completely at ease with her, happy and calm. Like everything in the world had finally fallen into place and he could die happily… His eyes snapped open. She was drinking a vanilla shake at the café. ‘The snow is so beautiful…’ Darien immediately set out for the café. "Hey there meatball head!" he said cheerfully as he joined her in the booth. "Mind if I join you?" She eyed him warily, but smiled. "So that’s why we keep running into each other! I never knew you could use that!" she said laughing. "What? Where’d you get a crazy idea like that?" he asked nervously. "You aren’t guarding your thoughts very well Darien. You should be more careful around me!" She said, smiling brightly. "And here I thought you were the smart one!" "Serena! You’re as smart as anyone else!" he replied immediately defending her. Serena laughed again. "Never mind Darien. I need you to forget this morning… for everyone’s sake. It’s complicated and horrible and dangerous! Just promise me, you won’t say a word!" She said going from teasing to serious in a matter of seconds. ‘I don’t know if I could live without you…’ She looked away for a moment and then smiled brightly. "So! What are you doing today?" "Uh…not much. Why?" Darien was beyond flustered. How could she change emotions so quickly? It was amazing… "I’m bored and a friend of mine wants me to do homework, but I mean, who really wastes a beautiful day like this?" she said gesturing to the winter scene around them. "Yeah…" he agreed. "Why don’t we go sledding?" "Alright!" And Serena was herself again… funny, sweet, charming, naïve and childish. And he loved her for it. ‘As a friend!’ he scolded himself, guarding the thought well this time. They spent the whole day laughing as they zipped down the hill and trudged back up only to zip down again. They stopped for hot chocolate several times and all in all it was a wonderful day. Finally, as the sun was setting they parted and went their own separate ways. Serena sighed as she looked up at the star filled sky. They were shinning so brightly tonight, reflecting their light off the snow that shimmered on the ground below. The moon too, was shining tonight as brightly as ever. ‘Please say I’ve done the right thing mother…’ she prayed to the moon. She looked at it one moment longer before turning to sleep. She was in a beautiful garden again, playing with the flowers and butterflies and smiling serenely at the magnificent world she lived on. Then she was in a ballroom, dancing with him and talking to her scouts and her mother… And finally the balcony, a woman with fiery red hair in front of her. The balcony, her love dead on the ground. The balcony, a sword to her heart as she plunged it in and whispered her regrets to the world. Blackness. She sat up, shaking violently and breathing hard. ‘That dream again! Why can’t I forgive myself for what I did?’ She took several deep breaths to calm herself and slipped silently out of the bed so as not to wake Luna, who had crept in there at some point in the night. She glanced up, out the window to the moon. It was shining still with its brilliant silver light. A flash of darkness and the moon turned red, bleeding slowly away into nothingness as a cruel laugh echoed in her mind. ‘First the prince, then the princess! The universe will be mine!’ and it cackled malevolently before fading away. She gasped and blinked twice. The moon was still there, still silver and bright. Had it been another dream? No… it was to real for that, and she was Serena. In her dreams she was always Serenity. That’s how she told reality from dream and vice versa. ‘I just wish there was someone I could talk to!’ But there wasn’t, and there never would be if she had anything to say about it. She would kill Beryl herself and erase the scout’s memories as soon as she got the crystal. For now, she could only wait.To be continued.
