The Weekend That Changed Everything (Title subject to change) By Michelle (m_mckague@hotmail.com) Rating- PG/PG-13 (later parts) Author’s Notes- Okay, this story is different than my usual ones. Notthat I have usual ones, okay it’s different than all usual ones. This onefocuses on Serena and Darien, but they aren’t Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon. But, there is a twist coming. Something will happen. Oh, and even thoughthey were never super heroes most of the gang managed to meet up. There aresome differences. Raye is Serena’s cousin and Luna is Serena’s sister.Mina’s with Andrew, Lita with Ken, Amy with Greg, Raye’s with Darien, Serenadated Chad, Luna and Artemis are human and married, and Molly was married to Nephlyte or Maxsfield Stanton, but when he died she married Melvin. Also, although they’re friends are friends Serena and Darien have never met, they just kept on barely missing each other. Oh, and Luna’s 29, Andrew,Greg, Artemis, Ken, and Darien are 34, and Chad is 30, and the scouts are 28.I don’t know how old Molly or Melvin are, probably 28, they don’t havebig part yet. They’re only mentioned in this part. Actually the othersdon't show up yet either. It's strictly Sernea and Darien in Pt1. I tookminor details of this from “Masquerade” by Crystal Heart and “Falling inLove” by Julia. Both those stories rock and I’d recommend going out and readingthem as soon as possible, you won’t regret it. I got her being a lawyer andhim a doctor from “Masquerade” and the idea of them being in love even thoughhe’s involved with Raye from “Falling in Love.” Part One- A Magical Weekend Serenity “Serena” Thompson couldn’t believe she was doing this. A relaxation seminar just wasn’t the kind of thing the 28 year-oldlawyer regularly did. It just wasn’t like her. However she had been seriously stressed lately and her friend Amy Anderson had suggested she go.Serena had reluctantly agreed. Now she was standing in the lobby of the Ceder Oaks Inn about to fillout the personal information survey that would be passed around to all. They had all been urged to use a nickname or an alias so to make this weekend a real getaway from their normal lives. Serena decided to useher childhood nickname of Rena. She looked at the form and sighed, she had a feeling this would be along weekend.* * * * * Endymion “Darien” Shields looked around the lobby of the Ceder OaksInn. This wasn’t his type of scene he decided right away. However, his friend Andrew Peters had been right when he had toldDarien that this was just what he needed. Darien admitted he had been tostressed lately. The 34 year-old surgeon had just begun a demanding job at Boston Mercy as a cardiologist and it had been a very stressful few months. He looked at the survey and wondered what nickname he could use. Finally he decided on plain old Dare. He put the form in the bin with the others and looked at the other participants. After a minute his gaze narrowed down on a pretty young woman with blond hair. She looked about as out of place as he did, he decided to take a chance and go talk to her.* * * * * Serena sighed as she looked around. She stuck out like a sore thumb in this crowd in her pale bluebusiness suit. She just hoped the weekend didn’t turn out to be a waste of time. Just then she felt a tap on the shoulder. She turned around to lookinto the most dazzling blue eyes she had ever seen. “Hello.” She said softly, taking in the rest of the man’s appearance. He was gorgeous. He had thick black hair, a dazzling smile, and one ofthe best bodies she had ever seen. And to top it off he looked as out ofplace as she did. He was wearing black slacks and a dark blue shirt with thetop button undone. All and all he was the best looking guy she had everseen. “Hello.” He said softly. “I’m Dare.” “Rena.” She introduced with a smile. “If you don’t mind me saying so you don’t like this is your kind ofthing.” He commented. She laughed. “It’s not. I’m a lawyer. You?” “A doctor.” He told her with a smile. Serena smiled and glanced around. “Why don’t we be naughty and skipthe first session? We could go get coffee.” She suggested. “A great idea.” Darien told her, taking her hand and leading her outof the lounge.* * * * * Four hours later the pair walked back into the Inn after having missedthe first two sessions. “Want to do it again tomorrow?” Darien asked her. “Definitely.” She smiled up at him as they reached the door to herroom. Darien studied her for a minute. She was easily the most beautiful he had ever seen. She had longgolden hair she wore n a thick braid, beautiful blue eyes, and the sweetestsmile in the entire world. She looked like an angel. On impulse he leaned down and kissed her softly. She automatically responded, her arms winding themselves around his neck. After a minutethey pulled apart each breathless. “Wow.” She commented softly. “Yeah.” Darien agreed. “I’m sorry Rena, I....” “It’s okay.” She told him. “I wanted it to. Dare, I’ll be honesttonight was the best time I’ve had in over a year.” “Me too.” He agreed. She didn’t say anything just smiled and disappeared into her room. He watched her go, knowing that now that he had found her he couldn’t lether go. *What about Raye?* A voice inside him asked. Darien paused as he thought about his girlfriend of eighteen months,he liked her but it was nothing compared to what he felt for Rena afterknowing her for four hours. He resolved to break it off with Raye as soon as possible, it wouldn’tbe fair to her to continue seeing her if he felt this way about someoneelse. * * * * * Serena got ready for bed in a blissful daze. She was in love. Yes, cool, collected, calm Serena Thompson had fallenin love in less than four hours. It was ridiculous, yet so very real. She loved Dare, she didn’t evenknow his last name yet she loved him. She was beginning to understand what her friends all felt. Amy had a serious boyfriend, Lita Kingsley was getting married nextsummer, Mina Ashton was in a long time relationship with her childhoodsweetheart, her sister Luna was married to the love of her life, her friend MollyBaker had found love twice. The first time with her husband Maxsfield who haddied and now she was married to an old friend of hers and Serena’s. EvenSerena’s cousin Raye Hillington was in a serious relationship. At least Raye was serious, she had confided to Serena that she wasn'tso sure about her boyfriend. He was apparently a very cool man, but Serenahad never met him. She had always been busy the times Raye had arrangedmeetings with there other friends. She shook her head and climbed into bed. She would let Raye worryabout her own problems and concentrate on herself for once.* * * * * Two days later Serena and Darien prepared to go their separate ways. They hadn’t made it to one session, they had spent the entire weekend ineach other's company. Darien handed her a slip of paper. “I know part of the charm of the weekend was that it was a break from reality, but I can’t let you go.” Serena smiled and handed him her own slip. “I know, I couldn’t either. My real name and phone number are onthere. Call me sometime.” “I will.” Darien told her sincerely. Before he could stop himself he leaned down and kissed her again. She responded just as she had that first night, and when they finallypulled away they were both deeply affected. “I’ll talk to you soon.” Darien promised as he walked to his car. She nodded and watched him go, knowing that he would. She could feelit, there had been some sort of magical connection between them. * * * * * Thank you, Michelle
