Disclaimer: I don't own Sailor Moon.
"Luna! Your brilliant!" Luna blushed and said, "Thank you
Serenity. I can go as soon as possible." Serenity sighed. "You'd
better be careful. There is a war going on down there, you know."
Luna nodded. "I promise I will. When should I leave?" "Tonight,
if you like." Luna smiled. "Thank you, my Queen." Serenity
laughed. "No, thank YOU Luna. And you know what else?" Luna
looked up. "I feel that Serena has some other help down there
too. I don't know exactly, but I think it could be the old
scouts." Luna gasped. "You mean you think they may have met-up?"
Serenity shrugged. "I don't know, Luna. I just have the feeling
someone is looking out for her. Just the same, I think she may
need you right now." Luna nodded and stretched her legs a bit.
"How will we go about it?" Serenity sighed and tapped her
forehead
slightly. "We'll make you look like a different cat. A stray.
That way you can go around without being noticed. That moon sigil
will have to go too. When you want to be revealed, you will."
Luna sighed. "You mean I have to go and lose all my fine looks
for a while?" Serenity laughed. "I guess your right. You are such
a beautiful cat!" Luna jumped on Serenity's lap. "What about when
I'm needed and I can't do anything as a cat? Go human?" Serenity
leaned back on the throne. "Yes, I suppose. I just hope you'll be
enough for now." "So do, I my Queen, so do I."

Serena stopped and looked up through the thick tree canopy.
She motioned for Darien to stop and rest. They had been trudging
through the forest all morning. It was time to eat and Serena
didn't want to get off course when the sun was directly over
head. They ate some of the berries they had collected earlier
that morning before they set out. She leaned against a tree and
sank down, drawing her legs in modestly. She was a mess. Worse
then when she was in Beryl's dungeon. She was eating and staring
thoughtfully into space when she heard Darien stand up. She stood
up too, looking at him strangely. "What is it?" Darien cocked his
head to the side. "I'm not sure. Wait. Don't you hear that?"
Serena cocked her head in the same direction Darien was. She
didn't hear anything at first, but then picked up on an almost
inaudible hum. "Another wave?" Serena shook her head. "I don't
think so. Why would she?" Realization struck her like a club.
Beryl knew! She knew who she was and where she was! Wait a
second. Maybe she was just being paranoid. She listened again.
There was certainly a hum, but it didn't sound like anything
natural and it didn't sound good. She dropped the rest of her
berries and craned her neck forward. The hum was becoming louder.
And it wasn't a humming anymore. Now it was more like a buzzing.
She strained to look into the forest in was thinner here, and she
could see for a ways. She almost turned around to say to Darien
that they must have only been imagining things when a glint
caught her eye. Something was moving in the forest, but it was
hard to tell right now what it was. It was swerving in and out
through the
trees. Instinctively, she grabbed Darien's hand. He looked at her
strangely. "I see something. I don't know what it is, but I don't
want to be in plain sight when it gets here." Darien nodded.
"What do we do?" She looked around them and her gaze rested on a
tall tree. "How are you at climbing trees?"
*****************************************************************
Darien soon finds himself scrambling up a tree after
Serena. She perches on a big limb and looks out into the foliage.
She looks tense, and he can see the straining in her muscles.
Crouching precariously on the thick limb next to her, he can hear
her breathing speed up and small beads of sweat gather above
her lip. Cautiously, Darien leans over to ask, "Serena, do you
see it?" She nodded silently. Darien inhaled sharply as he spots
something. When they draw closer, Darien sees that there are
four little metallic floating ships.(hovercraft) Each ship had
three enemy soldiers in it. He felt Serena nudge him. "What?"
She nodded at the first craft. Darien's heart jumped into his
throat. It was Will! The four crafts were in the formation of a
diamond almost directly before them. Directly under their branch
the craft last in the formation was staying perfectly still and
the soldiers were looking around. Darien felt his blood boil
when he heard Will bark out orders. "They are here! I know it!
Search the area." Serena was clutching the bark with angry hands.
"That pompous fool traitor!" She whispered at Darien angrily.
Darien felt the exact same way, but decided against wasting time
insulting his former friend. "Serena, they are bound to find us.
Got another brilliant plan?" Serena scanned the clearing and her
eyes rested on one of the nearest hovercraft. She smiled
mischievously. "I do think so."
*****************************************************************
Serena quietly stood up on the branch. The dense leaves hid
her from sight of the soldiers. Careful not to make too much
noise, she broke off a few small nuts from a twig. She looked
over at Darien. Good. He was in position. Serena felt a chill
crawl up her spine. She LOVED doing this kind of thing. She
picked a spot by the base of the tree and dropped the nuts. They
shook the bush and hit a rock. Enough noise, as Serena had
hoped, to get the attention of the nearest craft. The main
pilot, Serena supposed, eyed the spot where the noise had come
from. He veered away from the formation and inched over to their
tree. Serena could not help grinning, though she knew this would
take major concentration. Soon the hovercraft was directly below
Serena. She looked over at Darien and gave him a wink before
springing up off of the limb and into the air. If she missed,
the fall would almost certainly kill her. Luckily, she landed
right on top of one of the soldiers, and she fell far enough to
knock him out. One down, two to go! Thought Serena. It didn't
take long for the men to start shouting. She'd have to hurry.
The other crafts would be here soon. Jumping up, she knocked the
two soldier's heads together. Hard enough to leave them dazed.
Before the could gather their senses, she gave both of them a
shove and they fell to the ground. She looked over. They were
unconscious or worse. She hoisted up the other man and threw him
over the side. She ducked as a green energy beam lanced her
way,
missing her by inches. She fumbled with the controls, trying to
figure out how to maneuver the craft. She found a lever and
pulled on it. The craft lurched forward and Serena was thrown
back. She grabbed the main steering switch and brought it around
to the tree. Darien jumped down and landed hard on one of the
seats behind her. "Go! Go! Go!" Serena, frantic, screamed,
"What does it look like I'm trying to do?!" Darien, ducking
behind the seat screamed back. "Get us both fried!!!" She
ignored him and concentrated on steering the craft. She turned
away from the other crafts and pulled a lever she hoped would
make them go forward. To her dismay, it did the opposite. "Oh
%$#@!!!" They were backing up and fast approaching the oncoming
crafts. They were close enough that Serena could see Will's
face. Serena spun around and frantically searched the panel.
She fiddled with almost every button. Another put a hood over
the craft. They were now enclosed. One button fired a green
energy beam. "Any time now, Serena!!!" She fiddled with more
levers and buttons. "I'm trying!! I'm trying!!" Suddenly she
spotted a lever and yanked on it with all her might. The
whiplash was terrible. They lurched forward and Darien found
himself upside-down in the passenger's seat next to Serena. He
scrambled to sit up and Serena was looking back at their
pursuers. Darien righted himself and looked ahead. The next
thing Serena heard was "Tree! Tree tree tree treeeeeeeeeee!!"
Without looking forward, Serena yanked the joystick' to the
right. "Ahhh bank left! Bank left!! Oh Lord Serena watch where
you are going!" Serena was grinning. She seemed to have control
now, but that wasn't the end of the end of their problems. "They
are right on our tails!" Darien was looking back, which was
probably not the greatest idea considering that Serena was
driving, especially in her mood. "We'll lose em! Ha ha!!!
Aaaaaiiiiieeeee!!!!" Serena was laughing hysterically and howled
in excitement. She was grinning and laughing as she bent over
the joystick. "Serena! How are you going to do that?" Serena
just smiled and said, "I know the landscape. We are heading
north for the rough terrain!" The trees were thinning out and
rocks were jutting out from hilly sides. Serena swerved through
the trees and around the rocks. Without warning Serena
accelerated and barely missed a tree. Darien was very afraid.
"Serena are you insane?" She grinned at him. "Maybe!" Darien
looked back to check on their pursuers. "They're gaining on
us!!"
Serena ignored him. This was too much fun.
*****************************************************************
Darien is unsure of what to make of Serena's behavior. She
was scaring slightly, but in a way he liked her attitude. He
just prayed he would live through this long enough to become
king. Darien turned around, looking back at their pursuers.
They were flying in a V. Darien spotted Will. He was in the
craft in the center. He was crouched over the joystick, glaring
ahead. They kept firing, and Serena never stayed still long
enough for a hit. "Darien," Serena tugged on Darien's sleeve.
I'm going to try something." All Darien could think was, Oh no.
All he could though was a big dry plain and several large rocks
and ledges. They were weaving in and out through this and that.
They were suddenly out in the open. There was only an open
plane. "What could you possibly want to do besides outrun them?"
Serena, the craziness almost diminished, just stared ahead.
Darien turned around. All three were basically in a line now.
Serena pushed the accelerator even farther. They were going
around six hundred miles per hour. "Are you going to try and
outrun them?" Serena grinned. "Looks that way, doesn't it?
Darien, get ready to fire the weaponry." "What?" Suddenly,
Serena slammed on the brakes. The pursuers had no time to react
and blew past them. "Now Darien! Fire!" Darien, his senses
alert, didn't waste any time. He fired two single shots. Two
balls of flame came crashing to earth. Wait a minute. Only two?
Darien cursed himself. "I should've known he'd be too smart to
fall for that one." Serena nodded while pushing the accelerator
forward. They were slowly gaining speed. Too slowly. "Serena!
He's gaining!" Serena nodded and said, "I know. We'll take cover
in the trees. If we stay out here we'll be like sitting ducks."
Darien, sighing, said, "I hope this thing has harnesses so I
don't fly through that flimsy glass when you're driving." Serena
stuck out her tongue. Serena entered the forest and swerved
through the trees, gaining momentum. "Serena! I can't see him!"
"What??! What are you talking about?! He's there." Darien shook
his head. "No he isn't!" Before Serena could do anything, a beam
sliced through the small belly of the craft. Red lights were
flashing and they were spiraling out of control for a tree.
Serena felt the impact through every bone in her body. She was
thrown up against the front panel and hit her head. The last
thing she remembered seeing was the blood trickling down the side
of Darien's head. Then the world went black.
